In Gartner terminology, the analysis of business processes (BPA) is such field of activity and business modeling where professionals in a certain sphere of business (business users, business architects, analysts of business processes) and IT analysts conduct joint work over architecture of the existing business, conversion and improvement, including analyzing processes and structure of the enterprise, supporting the initiatives of improvement of business processes.

The majority of the BPA tools, in combination with BPM (Business Process Management), can be used for development and deployment of business processes in the working model of business of the enterprise. Most of suppliers of BPMS (Business Process Management Suite is a business process management packet) has tools of the analysis of processes, design and modeling tools.

Gartner does not consider these tools as a part of the market of BPA and data on this market prepare separately. Nevertheless, the BPA models created by business architects and analysts amplify in cooperation with other participants of modeling. Therefore suppliers of BPA tools which give additional opportunities in the direction of BPMS get some additional benefits in a magic quadrant for solutions of broader spectrum.

By Gartner estimates, profitability of the market of BPA constantly grew, on average from 13% to 15% within the last two years. The size of the market of new licenses of the products BPA, their supports, in 2009-2010 was $415 million and during 2010-2011 grew almost to $440 million that, according to analysts of the company, shows the encouraging signs of an exit from a crisis situation of 2009.

Forecast for the near future

The predicted annual average growth rate of income of the market of BPA during in 2012-2013 will be, at least, 14%. Positions of vendors

According to Gartner calculations, a share of revenues of Casewise in the market of the BPA tools from 2.8% to 3.2%, iGrafx share from 3.3% to 3.7%. The marketing message of Mega company was not as expressive as at her competitors, as a result the supplier is mentioned less than expected analytics of Gartner though the result is improved.

The low cost and ease of use of Microsoft Visio caused the greatest number of implementations of the BPA tool from Microsoft. According to Gartner, revenues of vendor from Visio were about $180 million (40% of total income in the market of the BPA tools).

MooD International market share by calculations of Gartner from 3% to 3.5%. At Nimbus the expected share of income of the market of BPA makes from 3.0% to 3.2%. OpenText-Metastorm holds strong positions in North America and region of EMEA, but for clients in other regions it is very difficult to receive the corresponding skills of use of its product. The share of BusinessGenetics makes from 2.3% to 2.6% of the market, according to Gartner.

Expected income No Magic is from 2.2% to 2.5% of the market. Revenue of vendor grew in 2010 and 2011, but the seller needs to promote more aggressively a product to become more, than just small market participant, Gartner considers. A share of QPR – from 2.5% to 3% of the market of BPA. Sparx Systems - from 2.2% to 2.5% of a share of income of the market.
