The agreement on creation of consortium on development of an ecosystem of developers and decision makers for DWH

2018: The list of DWH producers for performance of the Yarovaya Law

In July, 2018 the prepared Ministry of Industry and Trade list of the Russian producers storage systems (DWH) whose products can be used by telecom operators for execution was published Yarovaya Law. The document in response to the appeal to department was received by the head of consulting company "Orderkom" of Dmitry Galushko.

By July 20, 2018 domestic manufacturers of DWH for performance of the Yarovaya Law by telecom operators  the following:

According to Kommersant, the Yarovaya Law became effective on July 1, 2018, however on July 20 yet not adopted some bylaws. In particular the Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications did not provide change to rules of storage of voice information.  It is supposed that in this document it has to be specified "the priority of the Russian equipment manufacturers is registered".

However operators did not begin to wait for the authorities and began to buy components. So, the first significant batch of DWH is already shipped under the contract to MegaFon, the president of NCC Alexander Kalinin reported the edition. 

Dmitry Galushko considers that there is not enough power of the Russian producers for implementation of the Yarovaya Law. Besides, according to him, after adoption of rules of certification the equipment will have to pass tests. For example, in case of the order on SORM of 2014 from the date of its publication before issue of the first certificates there passed two years and four months.[2]

2017

The 1st half-year: 230 PBytes (-23%) for $126.8 million (-32%)

On September 29, 2017 analysts IDC published some results of a research of the Russian market storage systems (DWH). Sales of this equipment in the first half of the year were reduced by a third, despite rapid growth of a segment a flash arrays.

According to estimates of experts, in January-June, 2017 were supplied to the Russian market by DWH with a general capacity of 230.2 PBytes that is nearly 23% less than an indicator of the same period of previous year. Total revenue of producers from implementation of such solutions decreased by 32.4%, having made $126.8 million.

Recession is caused by decline in demand for traditional disk storages whereas shipments of the systems constructed only on arrays a flash memory without use of the turning hard drives in the first half of 2017 jumped by 86.5% in terms of money and reached 23.7% of total.

According to the analyst of IDC Mikhail Popov, the flash arrays is offered by valuable advantages to any clients therefore at all producers the number of requests of specifications grows.

Also follows from the report of IDC that in the first half of 2017 earned Hewlett Packard Enterprise (23.3%) from deliveries of servers to the Russian Federation most, and supplied most of all equipment in terms of the general capacity — Hitachi Data Systems (28.6%).

The maximum growth of deliveries was shown in terms of money by Huawei with increase by 242.4%. The same company became the leader in growth of cumulative capacity delivered to DWH — for 45.8%.

2016

On March 23, 2017 analysts IDC published the research report on the Russian market storage systems (DWH). Its volume in terms of the capacity of drives increased more than by a third, but in money growth was almost not.

According to the experts, in 2016 to Russia external disk storages with a general capacity of 663,002 terabyte were delivered that is 35.7% more in comparison with the 2015th. In money the market rose by 0.5%, to $382.77 million.

Such dynamics in IDC is connected with decrease in average cost of terabyte and changed preferences of customers who selected the equipment of a mid-price segment is much more often than cheaper and expensive solutions.

The largest producers of the external DWH supplied to the Russian market at the end of 2016 call the companies Dell Technologies Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) Hitachi Data Systems, IBM and NetApp. Many vendors showed modest dynamics, and only at Oracle and Huawei growth was measured by two-digit indicators.

Market shares of vendors for 2016 are not called. In the report it is only told about a 38 percent indicator leading Dell for the fourth quarter.

The second quarter

On October 3, 2016 the analytical company IDC provided the updated EMEA research Quarterly Enterprise Storage Systems Tracker in which among other things reflects a situation in the Russian market storage systems (DWH). In the report experts noted what EMC is in the lead not only on revenue, but also on the capacity of the released equipment.

According to these IDC for the second quarter 2016, to Russia external DWH with a total amount of 154.4 PBytes was delivered that is 60% more, than the previous year. In money the market grew for this period by 23.2% to $98.45 million.

According to Popov, in the first quarter 2016 the segment of the hybrid systems appeared more traditional solutions on cost, and in the second quarter this trend amplified.

In the analytical report of IDC it is also reported that EMC Hewlett Packard Enterprise Hitachi Data Systems, IBM and NetApp to which share more than 90% of deliveries in terms of money fell became the largest producers of storage systems in the Russian market in April-June, 2016.

EMC also returned itself leadership in total capacitance of the shipped devices thanks to 121 percent growth on this indicator. The company also won first place on rates of increase in revenue in the market (almost for 45%).

Putin charged to ministers to handle an issue of release of the Russian software and the equipment for data storage

The law signed by the Russian President on July 7, 2016 obliges telecom operators and the Internet company since July 1, 2018 for half a year to store the maintenance of calls and correspondence of users that law enforcement agencies could get access to them. The law will force operators and the Internet company considerably to increase the capacity of the data centers. First quarter

On June 30, 2015 analysts of International Data Corporation (IDC) provided results of a research of the Russian market of the external data storage systems (DSS). In the first quarter deliveries of these devices in terms of the general capacity rose almost twice, and Hitachi Data Systems became the leader in this indicator.

According to data of the research IDC EMEA Quarterly Enterprise Storage Systems Tracker, in January-March, 2016 the volume of the Russian market of external disk storages reached $90 million, having increased by 7.1% in comparison with the same period of last year. Total capacity of the shipped equipment during this time increased by 89.6%, having been 141.2 petabyte.

According to estimates of experts, in 2015 deliveries of external disk storages to Russia made 480,539 Tbyte in capacity expression that is 1.6% more, than the previous year. In money the market was reduced almost by a third to $380.9 million.

The Russian market of external DWH was rolled away to the level of 5-year

Such dynamics is caused by decrease in average cost of terabyte and the growing popularity of the medium-priced equipment.

The 4th quarter: 193 thousand Tbyte for $134 million, the leader of EMC

According to IDC, in the fourth quarter 2015 to the Russian market it was supplied external systems of data storage for the total amount of 134.36 million US dollars by total capacitance 193,390 terabyte.

In comparison with the same period of 2014, the capacity of the delivered external systems of data storage increased by 20%, supply rate in terms of money, in US dollars, was reduced by 21.8%.

Based on a quarter the EMC company became the leader of the Russian market of external systems of data storage, having occupied 30.4% of the market in capacity expression, practically without having changed a market share in comparison with the same period of 2014. The maximum growth of the delivered capacity was shown by Hitachi Data Systems company in the fourth quarter, having delivered to external systems of data storage by cumulative capacity honor by 5 times bigger, than the previous year. Deliveries of the systems of Hewlett Packard Enterprise and NetApp also increased in comparison with the same period of 2014 against the background of decrease of the activity of deliveries of other players of the market.

Cumulative capacity of the delivered external systems of data storage shipped in the fourth quarter 2015 almost for 64% exceeded total capacitance of the storage systems supplied to the Russian market quarter before. Increase in number of data did not allow the companies to save on storage systems. In total for 2015 calendar year to the Russian market it was supplied external systems of data storage with a cumulative capacity of 480,539 terabyte for the total amount of 380.90 million US dollars. For 2015 the market of external systems of data storage grew by 1.6% in capacity expression, having reduced in terms of money by 32.6%. Similar dynamics became possible thanks to decrease in average cost of terabyte inherent in the industry and the changed preferences of customers that selected the systems of a mid-price segment much more often than the systems of an initial and highest price segment.

The five of the largest suppliers of the Russian market of external systems of data storage at the end of year was created EMC Hewlett Packard Enterprise IBM, Hitachi Data Systems and NetApp. Annual financial results were reduced at all players, only at Dell and Hitachi Data Systems reduction did not exceed 10% of a barrier.

2014

Based on 2014 the total volume of the market of disk storage systems of data exceeded $565.15 million (+2.2% by 2013). The size of the disk capacity of DWH supplied to the market was 472.87 petabyte (+33.4% by 2013). The Russian market of external disk storage systems of data in the fourth quarter was in terms of money reduced 2014 by 12.4% in comparison with the same period of 2013, at growth of a total quantity of the disk capacity supplied to the market by 8.7%, the IDC company reported.

During the reporting period to the country more than $171.78 million are delivered disk storage systems for the amount, total amount exceeded 161.11 petabyte. Leaders of the industry according to the results of a quarter did not hand over positions: EMC HP IBM also HDS control nearly 80% of the market.

In 2014 growth of cumulative capacity of disk storage systems of data considerably outstripped growth of number of the accumulated information. This fact, according to experts of IDC, reflects aspiration of customers - to be prepared for possible adverse development of events and the planned reduction of budgets in 2015. The general economic situation, fluctuations of currency rates and gain of the competition for the account of appearance of new players and technologies, significantly affected financial results of year, leveling market growth in terms of money.

Third quarter

In the third quarter 2014 the cost of external disk storage systems of data (DWH) delivered on the Russian market exceeded $114.38 million, the IDC company reported in the quarterly research EMEA Quarterly Disk Storage Systems Tracker. The general capacity of space of storage exceeded 103.7 petabyte.

Comparing to the last quarter 2014, researchers point to growth of the market of DWH by 22.3%, in capacity. In financial expression, in comparison with the same period of 2013 - recession for 4.8%.

  • after panic reaction to imposition of sanctions against a number of big customers and large-scale growth of purchases from other consumers the situation began to be aligned against the background of satisfaction of the main demand;

  • reduction in cost of ruble and rate fluctuation of currencies demanded review of priorities in distribution of IT budgets of many customers;

  • entry of new players into the market, their orientation to initial and average price segments set many Chief information officers thinking on the development strategy of DWH in the organizations.

According to the results of this quarter EMC companies, HP, IBM and NetApp controlled more than 80% of the market of DWH, the leading positions were left by Hitachi Data Systems.

First quarter

According to the quarterly IDC EMEA research Quarterly Disk Storage Systems Tracker, capacity external storage systems, supplied in the first quarter 2014 to the Russian market, was more than 83.1 petabyte. Aggregate value exceeded $117.76 million.

Results of the first quarter speak about moderate growth of the market of DWH by 3.5% in terms of money. At significant growth - for 35.3%, in capacity gigabytes, in comparison first quarter 2013.

Mikhail Popov, the senior analyst of IDC, considers that significant annual growth is noted against the background of:

  • the continuing decrease in average cost of gigabyte - result of evolutionary development of technologies of storage and gradation for less expensive types of memory for drives (from SLC to MLC, eMLC, TLC).
  • some decrease in level of an annual margin in the channel
  • reductions of number of active players in the sales channel
  • changes of corporate strategy of IBM that contributed to the development of interest of customers in solutions of other suppliers.

Leaders: EMC HP Hitachi Data Systems and IBM - they control more than 80% of the market DWH.

2013

IDC predicted that for all 2013 the Russian market of external DWH will grow by 7.1% in comparison with last year, its volume will be 597.6 mln. dollars on income, but then will begin to slow down up to 2017, setting a trend for all Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). Deliveries to a corporate segment (large and very big customers) which dominated in purchases of external DWH approach saturation, and customers of small and medium business will select cloud services of storage because of their low price, flexibility and more and more convenient administration.


In total at the end of 2013 the Russian market of storage systems grew by 11.4% in comparison with previous year up to 473.4 petabyte. In terms of money market size was reduced by 5% to 734.2 million dollars. Demand was reoriented on solutions of the average level. Delivering solutions of the highest segment was in terms of money reduced by 30%, delivering solutions of initial level was reduced by 9.8%, however delivering solutions of the average level grew almost by 17%.

The companies remain leaders in supply rate among suppliers EMC IBM, HP and Hitachi. Together they hold more than 81% of the market though it should be noted that this indicator was five points less than the previous year.

The fourth quarter

According to results of the research IDC, in the fourth quarter 2013 storage systems with a total amount of 181.8 petabyte were supplied to the Russian market, the aggregate value of which was 253.8 million dollars.

Third quarter

The total revenue of producers of the external data storage systems (DSS) in Russia reached $105.3 million that in annual terms means decline by 11.3%, IDC in the quarterly research IDC Russia Quarterly Storage Tracker reported.

Leaders among suppliers, on supply rate, as well as last quarter - the company EMC IBM, HP and NetApp, they keep more than a half of the market under the influence. The total capacitance DWH supplied to the market about 68 thousand Tbyte - is 1% more, in comparison with 2012.

Analysts note that falling of total revenue happens against the background of decrease in average cost of gigabyte and final cost of the solution, nevertheless - the competition among producers grows and considerably the proposal of the players of the market who were earlier looking outsiders in a total amount of deliveries grows.

Positive dynamics does not accompany the market of external systems of data storage in Russia any more - it is not one of that the few where positive dynamics is noted. The general deterioration in an economic situation of Russia became an origin of the hardest situation in a number of IT market segments that had a noticeable impact and on the market of DWH.

The second quarter

In the 2nd quarter 2013 the market of external DWH in Russia of dews on units of percent, income increased by 4.5% in comparison with the same quarter a year ago that became the weakest result since the beginning of financial crisis. EMC saved growth by units of percent thanks to success in a segment of DWH of initial level and average power, despite sales reduction of high-end of systems. IBM also grew by 6.1% in comparison with the same quarter a year ago, at HP income dropped by 15.7%.

Two last vendors managed to find right balance between solutions with legacy and new architecture and to compete successfully on average a segment, but their sales to DWH of initial level and high-end of systems decreased. Deliveries of Oracle sharply grew - over 300% in a year - as result of a number of successful projects, including Exadata implementations.

Suppliers in category "Other" in total showed very good results in Russia this quarter - on the market of DWH vendors of servers successfully moved ahead. Dell relied on inexpensive disk memory of direct connection (DAS), and Fujitsu reaped the fruits of the efforts (verticalization, partnership and purchases) in foreign markets (especially in Europe).

Economic stagnation (the decreasing GDP and negative growth of industrial production) and political tension made the contribution to deceleration of the market of DWH in Russia. Most of all it affected expenses of a public sector and small business. As for the positive moments, infrastructure projects for the Olympic Games, further expansion of DPCs of suppliers of Internet services (ISP) and implementing solutions for Big Data helped the market to support growth.

First quarter

Total amount external DWH, sold in the market was about 59 thousand Tbyte - 15.1% more, than in 2012. The companies EMC IBM, Hitachi and HP still hold upper positions in the rating of supply rate, behind them more than 83% of the market.

The market of external systems of data storage, the IDC company in the another research - one of the few in our country noted that it saves positive dynamics. But it is difficult to compare its growth even to indicators of year prescription from what in IDC draw a conclusion: the general deterioration in an economic situation of Russia became an origin of extremely difficult situation in other segments of the IT market that, in turn, has more and more noticeable impact on the market of DWH.

Alexander Zagnetko, the program manager of the researches "Corporate systems" IDC, noted that such indicator as the annual growth of volumes of the set capacity of external DWH in crisis 2009 in Russia made nearly 18% that is explicit more, than in the first quarter 2013. At that time, and the cost of carriers was quickly reduced, and the need for placement of large volumes of these customers was not so sharp, than today. The analyst notes: "In our country there was extremely disturbing situation in the IT market. Even the budget items connected with systems and applications vital for business are exposed to reductions".

2012

The fourth quarter

Revenue of producers external storage systems (DWH) in Russia in the fourth quarter exceeded $179 million that in annual terms corresponds to growth by 17.2%, the company IDC Russia in the quarterly research IDC Russia Quarterly Storage Tracker drew a conclusion.

During the fourth quarter 2012 in the market of Russia it is sold, in the amount, about 100 thousand Tbyte of disk capacity. In comparison with the same period of 2011, growth was 34%.

The corporation EMC heads top three as a part of which HP and IBM. The market share of corporation came very close to 50%.

Growth of interest of the Russian assemblers of the equipment in a segment of storage systems is observed: actively the product range extends, supply rates of DWH of different types grow.

Use of DWH in virtual environments spreads, it is one of the top global trends. Russia here not an exception, noted IDC - growth significantly advances dynamics of deliveries of servers to virtualization infrastructures in this segment.

Third quarter

Growth of the Russian market external storage systems (DWH) in the third quarter year on year was 2012 19.2%, at the total revenue of producers of $119 million (2 quarter - $105 million). The total capacitance of the purchased systems reached 65.8 thousand Tbyte. In comparison with the same period of 2011, growth of this indicator of consumption was slightly less than 30%.

Nearly 80% - such is in terms of money general share of market leaders: EMC, HP and IBM.

The market of DWH in the world, and Russia in particular, moves towards to new calls, experts of IDC in a quarterly research note. Today it becomes more difficult to users to be guided in enormous arrays of unstructured data, and technologies of the concept of intensive model of development of infrastructure offered now are extremely expensive therefore success of the network resources implementing new approaches and algorithms in work with content looks quite logical.

"Looking back at the way which is taken place the market in 5 years it is possible to draw interesting conclusions, – the program manager of the researches "Corporate systems" Alexander Zagnetko considers. – During this time the cost of one gigabyte in corporate DWH was reduced more than by 7 times, expenses of users increased by only one and a half times, and the total capacitance delivered in a quarter to DWH increased almost by 14 times. Yet technological capabilities for further reduction in cost of storage are not browsed by high rates and there are no bases to consider that budgets of customers considerably will rise IT. At the same time, there are hardly reasons to doubt that volumes of the processed and stored data will continue to increase promptly. All this means that already in the nearest future the industry will enter new, extremely difficult period of the development".

The second quarter

Revenue of players of the Russian market external storage systems (DWH) in the II quarter 2012 reached nearly $105 million that in annual terms corresponds to growth by 27.3%, analysts IDC of Russia in the report of Quarterly Storage Tracker reported. Consumers in the II quarter external DWH was purchased by total capacitance of 53.9 thousand TB. Growth on this indicator in comparison with the same period of 2011 was slightly less than 70%.

More than a third of the market in terms of money holds EMC. Another 43% of sales in total are the share of HP solutions and IBM, and two of these suppliers finished quarter with almost identical indicators of revenue.

As expected, dynamics of reduction in cost of storage per one gigabyte does not look any more as impressive as before. In a year this indicator was reduced less than by 25% (for comparison, rates of its falling were more than 40% three years ago).

Suppliers continue to increase intensively number of instruments of optimization of storage in the products. These efforts are shown in distribution of different technologies, from virtualization of DWH before new approaches to integration of SSD in multilevel storages. At the same time the customers who do not have the considerable budget on IT are not spoiled by attention of the largest players. In this niche, as before, systems collected – often directly users – on the basis of the most inexpensive solutions prevail.

Developers of storage systems

Conditionally all producers DWH it is possible to separate into world leaders (brands "A"), other large manufacturers (brands "B") and local (local) collectors. Until recently a limited set of the solutions which are based generally on architecture of DAS (Direct Access Storage) or SAN (Storage Area Networks) on the basis of the Fibre Channel protocol was presented at the Russian market of DWH.

The companies from the first group gained the greatest authority in the market. They locate a wide partner and service network worldwide, invest huge amounts of money in new product development and marketing, have billion financial turnovers (in particular, in the sector of storage systems), etc. The main share of sales of external disk DWH, as in quantitative, and in terms of money is the share of products of world leading manufacturers (A-brands).

Leading world developers DWH:

The market of DWH endures rough rise, and naturally on it the series of merger of independent developers by large players proceed. In particular, Dell was purchased by Compellent Technologies, before HP absorbed company 3PAR (having bargained with the same Dell at all), EMC attached Kazeon and Isilon Systems to the product line.

As DWH are inseparable from computing resources, it is no wonder that many largest global manufacturers of storage systems are at the same time and leaders in the server market. From the listed above producers only three are engaged only in DWH - it is EMC, Hitachi and NetApp.

From the DWH producers provided in our country we will note the companies which belong to class "B" mentioned above.

The concept of public clouds gaining popularity has an impact on a segment of DWH. Owners of public clouds are less inclined to payment a brand award that[3] can open ample opportunities for producers of the second echelon, niche or new players[3].

Domestic manufacturers of disk DWH (for example, DEPO Computers company) collect the systems based on components of foreign producers, including Microsemi (before Adaptec), Chenbro, Falconstore, Intel, LSI Logic, Lustre and others. In general are delivered to DWH of local production mainly in small projects. Besides, it is important to note that in a segment of DWH the resistant tendency to replacement of the domestic companies by world is observed.

Important difference of the systems of A-brands from DWH of local production is presence at them of the special software intended for recovery and data protection, backup, remote control and monitoring, "information lifecycle management" (Information Lifecycle Management, ILM), diagnostics, etc. software with similar functions develops also a set of the independent companies therefore it can be purchased separately. Of course, in the absence of problems with compatibility.

The cost of DWH very strongly depends on functionality and additional options – expansion units, type of hard drives, service maintenance etc.[4].

2011

In 2011 the volume of expenses on external DWH in Russia exceeded 460 million dollars. According to the forecast of IDC, the market of DWH in general will continue to develop enough in high gear, and the segment of secondary storage devices will show higher rates of growth and will remain among the priority directions for investments among all categories of the corporate equipment.

Against the background of EMEA region supply rates of external DWH to Russia are selected with the most considerable growth rates not only in terms of money, but also on such indicator as total capacitance of the purchased systems.

Both in the market of DWH in general, and in a segment of external systems of storage by leaders at the end of 2011 there were companies EMC, HP and IBM. Among a set of problems which customers face two main are selected, to some extent connected among themselves: need of placement of promptly growing volumes of heterogeneous data and navigation with quick access to relevant information. Development of tools for the solution of such tasks during the work with Big Data as, for example Data mining Intelligent data analysis, for the present does not allow to speak about break in this area. As well as cloud storages, virtualization DWH and technologies of deduplication it is impossible to consider as a panacea though these solutions and allow to increase return from investments into IT. It is enough to tell that in 2011 expenses of users on DWH grew almost by one and a half times.

The fourth quarter


The total revenue of producers external storage systems (DWH), supplied to the Russian market in the fourth quarter 2011, exceeded $152 million that corresponds to growth by 64.5% in comparison with the same period of the previous year. It is said in the next report IDC.

Consumers external DWH by total capacitance of 72.5 thousand Tbyte was purchased. Growth on this indicator in a year was more than 145%. In the Russian market of external systems of data storage the EMC company is in the lead. Its share in total sales made 39%.

In general in 2011 the market of DWH showed impressive dynamics, according to IDC. Its volume in terms of money grew by 50%, and the cumulative capacity of the systems which were purchased by the Russian customers increased by 160%.

  • Everything is more leveled an edge between servers and DWH. A part of processes which support was performed in the past by servers is assigned to storage infrastructure now and vice versa.
  • Russia remains the country in which the share of equipment expenses prevails in IT budgets so far. However, despite decrease in specific weight of costs for the hardware in the developed countries, it is not necessary to expect noticeable reduction of cost of ownership of IT as in most cases cutting of costs for "iron" is blocked by growth of expenses on management systems and support.
  • Interest in the different systems of structuring and data analysis increases. Need to analyze trends, to trace the new factors influencing competitive environment and to perform planning influences IT ecosystems more and stronger. Huge arrays of unstructured data, uncountable backup copies and a shaft of the entering information cause concern in customers. Construction of hierarchical storage systems, policy of prioritizing of data and new carriers, such as corporate SSD, not always cope with growth of volumes of the aggregated data.
  • Practically there are no doubts that in process of formation of the market of cloud services there are more and more customers, especially from a segment of small and medium business, will show to it considerable interest, hoping to reduce costs, IDC considers.
  • In 2012 suppliers of DWH will continue to work on increase in utilization of the solutions using software tools. Technologies of virtualization and deduplication in this segment will extend more and more widely, to some extent repeating stages of evolution of server platforms.

First quarter

The total revenue of producers external storage systems (DWH), supplied to the Russian market in the first quarter 2011, exceeded $71 million that in annual terms corresponds to growth by 48%.

Consumers external DWH was in the first quarter purchased by total capacitance of 26.7 thousand Tb that corresponds to growth more than for 129% year on year, said in the report of IDC.

In the Russian market of external systems of data storage the company is in the lead EMC. Its share in total sales made 37%. In terms of money the market shares of top three which in addition to EMC go HP and IBM, reach 80%.

Results of quarter confirmed the made earlier optimistic forecasts of development of this segment of the Russian IT market, experts of research company consider. Demand for DWH remains very high.

Though some players complained of the failures in supply chains caused by an earthquake in Japan and predicted possible growth of selling prices of the products, the cost of storage continues to fall. In a segment of external DWH it already fell lower than $3 for GB. Nevertheless, growth rates of volumes of the processed and stored information are so considerable that revenue of producers continues to increase.

At the same time, if to speak about domestic specifics, it should be noted that the behavior of many customers is defined by aspiration instantly now to complete all significant projects on development of infrastructure. During the election period selection of budgets, approval, planning and implementation of any initiatives, as a rule, appears questionable, the document says.

The attention of leading manufacturers is drawn even more often by a segment of SMB. Considerably it is caused by the fact that the number of big customers in our country is rather small, however also the fact that development of technologies allows to bring to the market more and more available solutions with serious functionality is obvious, analysts of IDC consider.

Alexander Zagnetko, the program manager of researches of IDC "Corporate systems", considers that "literally before our eyes" there is the next transformation of model of data storage.

According to him if in the middle of crisis implementation of new approaches was, as a rule, postponed, then today more and more active promotion of integrated solutions in which integrates program and the hardware and also virtualization, "washing out" of physical infrastructure, generate new opportunities and new calls.

"In particular, cloud offers, further development of the concept "IT as service", bring to the new level of a security concern and compatibility and also impose more and more serious requirements to development of telecommunication networks", - he concluded.

2010

Results of year

According to the new research IDC under the name Russia Enterprise Storage Systems Market 2011-2015 Forecast and 2010 Vendor Shares, in 2010 the total revenue of suppliers of DWH in Russia approached pre-crisis value and reached $399 million.

According to the forecast of the company, the market of DWH will continue to develop enough in high gear, and the segment of secondary storage devices in terms of money will grow in five years almost by 75%. Three leading DWH producers did not undergo changes. Almost 80% of deliveries to the Russian market, the report says. in total are the share of EMC, HP and IBM.

Volumes of the created, processed and aggregated data promptly grow. Huge unstructured arrays, uncountable backup copies and a shaft of the entering information cause strong concern in users.

Construction of hierarchical storage systems, policy of separation of data on degree of the importance and new carriers, such as corporate SSD, not always cope with those tasks which arise at customers. Tape libraries are considered as one of possible methods of cost reduction on storage again, IDC reports.

Not less also data protection problems are particularly acute. Very many consumers express concerns, rather possible vulnerabilities of IT infrastructures, both own, and outsourcing.

The share of expenses on the hardware of infrastructure decreases. However in Russia the role of the equipment remains very considerable, in particular because most of owners is not ready to concede control over IT assets to external providers of services.

By words ' Alexander Zagnetko', the program manager of the researches "Corporate systems" IDC in spite of the fact that cloud services still are in a development stage, this segment will have "a huge impact" on the market of DWH in the near future. "The producer which in a year will not be able to give to the customer the clear answer to a question why to buy the equipment if with minimum flows it is possible to organize data storage in a cloud, will meet great difficulties", - he concluded.

Third quarter

The total revenue of producers external storage systems (DWH), supplied to the Russian market, in the third quarter exceeded 2010 65 mln. dollars that is 25% more, than quarter before and for 59% exceeds results of the same period of 2009.

To consumers it was in the third quarter delivered external DWH by total capacitance of 18 thousand Tb. that corresponds to growth more than for 150% year on year. In the Russian market of external systems of data storage the EMC company is in the lead. Its share in total sales made 33%. The closest competitor – HP – holds 29% of the market.

In the market there are more and more systems in which solid-state carriers (SSD) are used. Noticeable reduction in cost of data storage when using DWH about SSD mentioned for the last year nevertheless does not allow to speak about price competition with more traditional HDD yet. Despite some notable technology advantages which solid state drives have their implementation goes rather low rates so far.

First quarter

The total revenue of producers storage systems (DWH), supplied to the Russian market, in the first quarter exceeded 2010 48 mln. dollars that is 35% less, than quarter before, but for 60% exceeds results of the same period of 2009 IDC (by data).

To consumers in the first quarter were it is delivered to DWH by total capacitance of 9 thousand Tb. that corresponds to growth by 103% year on year. In the Russian market of external systems of data storage with a big separation the EMC company is in the lead. Its share in total sales made 38%. The closest competitor – HP – occupies 22% of the market.

IDC notes the increasing distribution a flash systems of the corporate level and connection protocols on the basis of Ethernet. Taking into account noticeable reduction in cost of data storage in the modern systems, to the forefront when choosing specific products even more often there are such factors as access rate to information, security and compatibility.

2009

Influence of crisis in 2009 was felt in all segments of the IT industry. Despite great interest of the Russian customers to DWH, in 2009 recession in the industry exceeded 40% in terms of money. Nevertheless, DWH of the corporate level remained extremely demanded solution – the total capacity of the implemented systems of this kind grew by almost 20%. As soon as in the industry of IT there were signs of stabilization, IDC recorded noticeable growth in sales of DWH. New technologies and approaches to architecture of storage systems allow the increasing number of customers to receive reliable and productive DWH at reasonable price.
