Such corporations as Adobe, Workday, LinkedIn and Salesforce, implemented this model, having given to clients an opportunity for many years to use applications in clouds. For most of us this model is associated with a subscription for applications and entertaining content. But now case is not limited to them. The companies see in it such advantages as acceleration of innovations and deepening of customer relations, responding to their wish about bigger flexibility. The companies unroll new model, replacing with it traditional business methods, winning competitive struggle, reducing attraction costs of clients, increasing the operational efficiency and profitability, increasing income and cost[1].

Really, the companies which passed to XaaS begin to grow five times quicker and pay to shareholders 7% more. It is clear, that there was a shift. If before the companies were focused on development of the best products with the best functions, then now they should make transition from orientation to products to the organization of the activity based on the platform. But they should think also of broader categories and to transform everything — from marketing and finance to corporate culture.

Eight most important recommendations which the companies should implement are included below, making a start from the platform that successfully grow using XaaS:

  • check financial opportunities of the market, their influence on economy and clients of the company. Prepare scenarios of use, justification of total amount of investments and the step-by-step plan that your new strategy of creation of products led to positive financial results. It does not matter, if you go mad on metrics to show economic effect and to estimate availability and use of the platform;
  • use people of different type in the network. Now your network or an ecosystem becomes more open and extensive and can attract more wide range of persons. Your products and the platform should be intuitive, attractive and simple in use for any audience. Showing understanding of cares and alarms of each of these people, using sympathy for them in marketing, it is possible to gain effect of the multiplicator which is quickly scaled and allows all end users to apply your platform and becomes more loyal;
  • solve problems. Your platform will have a core of opportunities/services in which use clients are interested most of all. But it is important to differentiate them on unique problems which she solves. It is necessary to take care that your products met specific needs. It will have huge value for creation of supporting services and solutions;
  • ensure safety and confidentiality. In model "as service" everything is open and public that allows to create new innovation applications. It is performed through API, or interfaces of protocols of applications. Doing more than your API public or opening their code, you allow bigger number of developers to create new delightful applications on your platform. However it is necessary to pass to it only after confidential data protection is provided. And each opened API should pass careful test previously;
  • you aim at long-term stability, but not at short-term compromises. Everything, from products based on the platform before new processes, needs long-term strategic vision which gives preference to long-term opportunities before fast short-term prizes;
  • focus on customer service. Irrespective of the fact how your platform develops, it should provide the best customer service what is only possible, and intuitively to react to requests of clients. Now clients demand service on formula 24×7, and you should be to it ready;
  • optimize due to use of different models of monetization. The payment can be levied in the form of an income share, for a subscription, call volume, bonus access, monetization of data, etc. Your method of monetization can change in process of scaling of the platform. And at first you perhaps will only pay developers for creation of API;
  • stimulate change of culture. Transition will be successful, only if it it is accepted and supported by all commands in the company and out of it. It should become a part of DNA of the company.
