ISO 15926-1:2004

ISO 15926 is the standard of submission of data on lifecycle of installation of continued production. This representation is specified by means of the generalized conceptual data model suitable as a basis for implementation in databases or data warehouses of joint use.

Prerequisites

Information concerning engineering, to construction and operation of plants of continued production is created and changes throughout life of the last a set of the different organizations. Reasons of economy, security and also environmental protection require availability of such information to owners and operators of the equipment, contractors and regulatory bodies in the consistent integrated form. This requirement can be met by means of a task in the specifications ordering structure and value of data which the organizations and specialties involved in all stages of lifecycle of installations jointly use.

Requirement of increase in price efficiency of installations of continued production conducts to the business practicians depending on effective integration and joint use by information on installations of continued production in a machine-readable form. These business practicians turn on the following.

  • Needs of many users cover more, than one traditional group of descriptions. Two examples of that: security and also environmental protection.
  • The parallel engineering requires parallel promotion of construction work with ensuring availability of a project status in an electronic machine-readable form for other actions of engineering, planning, acquisition and supply.
  • From standardization of the specification of components considerable cost reduction is expected. For simplification of inclusion in projects of installations and data on such specifications should be submitted to requirements to them in a machine-readable form.
  • In the past transferred (from the designer to the customer and builders) data on projects of installations were often limited to project drawings and documents on paper. Work with this information at management of activity and modifications of installation was limited to manual processing, or data had to be transferred to the format suitable for required application. The machine-readable form of the project of installation and data on the equipment increases economy and effectiveness of an operational stage (lifecycle) of installation.
  • The exact and provided in a machine-readable form data on utilization properties of installation for its lifecycle are very valuable to optimization of the forthcoming modifications of installation and for design of new installations on the basis of the experience got with already existing.

Using a consistent context for data definition, the data applied in different aspects of lifecycle of installation can integrate. It allows to integrate data, to jointly use them and to exchange them in a machine-readable form.

Purpose of ISO 15926

Purpose of this Standard is assistance of data integration and support of actions and the practician of lifecycle of installations of continued production. For this purpose in this standard the data model defining value of data on lifecycle in the uniform context supporting all groups of descriptions which production engineers, equipment engineers, operators, maintenance engineers and other specialists can have in relation to installation is specified.

Traditionally the data connected with installation of continued production focused on some separate group of descriptions at some point. Such data usually were defined and followed irrespective of other user groups that led to duplication of data and contradictions in data and also to impossibility of joint use by them neither in the organization, nor with business partners of the organization.

This data model is designed for application jointly with handbook data, i.e. with the standard copies of classes submitting data, the general for a number of users, installations of continued production or both those, and others. Support of certain actions of lifecycle depends on application of the relevant handbook data together with this data model.
