Andrey Geshel, the director of the Service center of Jet Infosystems company, considers that customers show the greatest interest in projects using machine learning. In addition, according to him, demand for solutions for reduction of output speed of a product for the market grows, especially from retail and the financial sector. The popularity of multicloud platforms, solutions on containerization and cloud-native of development grows. Big development is also gained by the open source systems and their support.

However there are factors interfering rapid growth of the listed directions, Stepan Tomlyanovich considers. Among them a shortcoming of qualified specialists, demand for whom exceeds the offer and also the different level of readiness of the companies for digital transformation.

The leader in the Russian market of IT services is Lanit. Revenue of the company in this direction for 2018 reached a point in 60 billion rubles (height of +18%). The first five also included Rostelecom *, AiTeco, Croc and Jet Infosystems. The share of Top-5 makes 61% of revenue of all participants of rating of the largest IT service providers.

At 40 participants of rating at the end of 2018 positive revenue development is recorded. Five companies reduced the income. Dynamics of five more is unknown since their revenue for 2017 is unknown.

Assessment at the end of 2017 - data of IDC

On July 12, 2018 IDC provided results of a research of the Russian market of IT services at the end of 2017. According to estimates of the company, the volume of the Russian market of IT services increased in US dollars in 2017 by 20.7% and was $5.16 billion. In ruble expression in comparison with previous year the market of IT services grew by 5.1%. The difference in growth rates is explained by strengthening of Russian ruble in relation to US dollar.

IDC note that despite relative stability in economy, about implementation of this or that project customers still approached decision making very thoughtfully and carefully. First of all projects which allowed to reduce costs were in demand and to increase performance.

Such approach favorably affected first of all a segment of services of consulting and customization of software, the become one of the most dynamic in 2017. At the same time the increasing number of applications is consumed by customers through a cloud that helps them to predict better operating expenses and increases efficiency. As a result, the segment of a hosting of service and administration of software continues to hold firmly the first position on growth rates in the Russian market of IT services.

The strengthened ruble helped software makers and the equipment to increase sales volumes that has a positive impact also on services in a support and maintenance. Further penetration of mobile technologies, the systems of analytics, Internet of Things and artificial intelligence increases demand for solutions and services in the field of security and also custom software development.

In spite of the fact that the concept "digital transformation" entered a lexicon of IT specialists for a long time, understanding and awareness of need of "digitalization" of business came to customers and IT service providers only recently, notice in IDC. Therefore digital transformation, and together with it and the announced state program of digital economy will become the pacing factors stimulating market development of IT services in the next years believe in the companies. According to TAdviser, the Russian market of IT services at the end of 2016 in ruble expression grew by 4% and reached volume in 306.4 billion rubles.

At the same time Stepan Tomlyanovich, the CEO of Fors-Centre razrabotki (FORS Group) company, believes that at the end of 2016 it is possible to draw a conclusion not only on stabilization in the Russian IT market, but also on its explicit expansion, on strengthening of positions of the domestic IT companies.

According to analysts, the total size of the market of IT services exceeded $4 billion. At the same time their share for the last few years significantly increased — from 20% up to 25%. It is possible to tell that the market of IT services becomes more mature.

In the Russian market service companies often play a role of integrators, not only selling services in development and support of the software, but also installing someone else's software products. Their share in sales of these products in domestic market from 2013 to 2016 increased from 19% to 36%.

It is possible to assume reasonably that turnovers of the Russian industry of custom software development will continue to grow not at smaller rates, than in 2016. The expected economic recovery and also the next wave of implementation of new technologies which ripened for mass use will work at domestic market on growth of the industry. The import substitution gaining steam will play a driver role too.

In general the software turns from category of a product into category of service. The software companies enough in large quantities reduce a share of income from sale of licenses and increase a share from sale of services in the SaaS model, - Stepan Tomlyanovich tells.


2017 for the Russian market of IT services became year of growth and changes. One and all market participants polled by TAdviser speak about the positive dynamics exceeding last year's. In general, according to TAdviser, growth of volume of the domestic market of IT services to 325 billion rubles (+6% by 2016) will become a result of 2017.

Telling about a situation in the market of IT services most of respondents of TAdviser mention the term "transformation". However its value is interpreted by experts in different ways. At the same time both customers, and their requirements, and the IT companies "are transformed".

Valery Sokolyuk, the technical director of Asteros, notes that in 2017 the same economic conditions remained, as the previous year, but the Russian business already adequately adapted to them. According to him, the market of IT services was transformed first of all due to demand for the services reducing the IT infrastructure charges increasing the customer base and allowing to make quickly strategic decisions.

Alexander Semyonov, the president of Corus Consulting Group, considers that the market of IT services actively grows and this growth will continue also next year. However, according to him, the market strongly changes and the main transformation of this sector is connected with the fact that it will be harder and harder to separate IT from business.

It is obvious at the level of the world market of IT services and same it is visible in the Russian market. All existing technologies – general penetration of state services, development of a blockchain as key tool for interaction implementation, and other – lead growth of popularity of cryptocurrencies to the fact that traditional businesses, from banking services to telecommunications, become the same IT service providers, as well as system integrators and IT consultants.

Market development of IT services in the future in Russia will depend very strongly on whether will be able to support the existing IT companies business of the clients by new technologies, without remaining in an old paradigm of automation of the current business processes. A task of IT suppliers - to offer a set of products and services, using which customers could create new offers for the end customers. We already see examples of the international vendors which create strategic alliances with the biggest customers for development of similar services, - he tells.


Dmitry Vedev, the marketing director of IT Group, calls 2017 year of "careful" growth and changes. Though growth was also not too considerable – by estimates of the company it is 6-7%, it gave an explicit positive signal for market participants, Dmitry Vedev considers.

But structural changes which are caused both technology, and economical political factors became more important trend, in my opinion. This transformation leads to the fact that, despite modest general growth rates, there are donor segments which lose volumes and there are segments recipients which quickly grow.

In terms of technologies the advancing growth of cloud services (both public, and private) which, let and from low base, grow at two-digit rates is visible. And though volume indicators of the market of cloud services are still not too considerable to dominate over "old" IT services, in the long term 3-5 years we can expect volumes, quite comparable with them, - the marketing director of IT tells.

Cloud computing and services remain a main growth driver of the market. So, according to a recent research of iKS Consulting, the market of cloud providing in Russia in 2016 grew, in comparison with 2015, by 29.7%, and an IaaS segment - for 43%, this growth will remain in the next years, - he adds.

Nevertheless, the idea to turn large capital costs into the managed operating costs attracts interest both of an enterprise, and of representatives of small and medium business.

It is obvious that first of all it is reaction to need to reduce capital costs which in the existing economic conditions not many are able to afford. If to judge Croc on a cloud, then customers translate there and core-systems. Besides, customers, especially the B2C-companies, passing to "digital" model of business, dictate strict requirements to a cloud. In particular, they are not ready to wait if the website is loaded longer than 3 seconds because their consumers are not ready to wait. They want convenient mobile application because their clients can leave to the competitor at whom it is more convenient. Other important trend of the Russian market is a turn of demand towards implementation services or development of the solutions substituting western. On August 24, 2017 the IDC analytical company published the second part of an annual research of the Russian market of IT services — Competitive Profiles and Analysis of Leading IT Services Players in Russia, 2017. In the report it is said that market size in dollars was reduced by 4.5%, however continued to grow in rubles.

According to experts, in 2016 the total income of suppliers from sales of IT services in Russia reached $4.31 billion against $4.52 billion the previous year. Experts note breakthrough of IBS from the 12th on the 7th place in the rating of the largest suppliers that was promoted by accomplishment of several large contracts in public sector. As a result revenue of the company from rendering IT services rose in a dollar equivalent more than by 30%.

The group of CHEEKS is recognized by the leader in IT consulting (from market shares of 14.1%), in network integration and consulting (9.5%) and also won first place in the macromarkets of project services (8.3%), services of support and training (7.2%).

Preliminary data for 2016

Based on a research, in US dollars the volume of the Russian market of IT services was reduced in 2016 by 5.3% and was 4.27 billion dollars. In ruble expression in comparison with previous year the market of IT services grew by 3.6%.

The negative phenomena in international policy still had a strong impact on financial markets and, as a result, national economy in 2016. In turn, it negatively affected also investments into large infrastructure IT projects. First of all clients aimed at increasing business performance at the expense of already installed products and solutions that in turn, led to increase in demand for services of audit of IT infrastructure, business and IT processes of the organizations and also their communication with installed applications and services.

Further penetration of technologies of the third platform, first of all, of mobile technologies and Internet of Things, resulted in the increased demand for services of IT security and custom software development which got support including due to state policy of import substitution and also the best adaptation of the Russian developers to the Russian realities and the legislation. Noticeable growth of interest in cloud computing is caused not only desire of customers to save on infrastructure, but also the fact that the increasing number of applications and services is provided through a cloud.

Digital transformation which already has a noticeable impact both on private, and on the state organizations will become the main driver of the Russian market of IT services for the next five years. Development of "the smart cities", further implementation of the state information systems, tools of predictive analytics and mobile applications, personalisation of services, all this will move forward and the market of IT services. Already now many vendors and system integrators displace the business more and stronger towards IT services which share in their revenue continues to grow.

Results of 2015: The crash of the market for 34% to $4.52 billion

On August 30, 2016 the analytical company IDC published short results of a research of the Russian market of IT services. Its volume noticeably fell in dollars, but increased in rubles, and IBM and SAP promptly increase revenue from IT services in Russia.

According to these IDC, in 2015 30 of 100 largest IT service providers in the Russian market are the international companies. IBM and SAP showed the best results, having increased revenue in rubles by 40%.

The market leader became Lanit which considerably outstripped on total revenue from sales of IT services of the closest persecutor — the company Technoserv. The five of the best to which share fell about a quarter of the market also included the companies Croc, ITG and I-Teco.

According to experts, in 2015 sales of IT services in Russia made $4.52 billion that is 34% less than an indicator of year prescription. In ruble expression rise for 4.7% took place.

Crisis is a two-edged sword. On the one hand, the companies include a regime of economy, try to cope with tasks to the maximum.

"Partly it is correct. But the main thing here ‒ not to cross line, to save common sense as it is possible to receive such damage from actions of incompetent employees that it will exceed saved. Losses can be enormous: as stated, greed occasionally brings to poverty", - Andrey Geshel, the director of the Service center of Jet Infosystems company explains.

Therefore (and it is the reverse of the medal) crisis contribute to the development, optimization, search of more effective schemes and mechanisms of service of IT infrastructure, establishment of the necessary balance between the cost of IT services and their quality and reliability.

"It is just the positive moment, - Geshel considers. - Besides, the IT and outsourcing partner is more reliable than own staff which can begin to leave in large quantities if the employer is not ready to raise them salary, and in crisis it, as a rule, absolutely is not ready to it".

For Softline as integrator crisis was expressed not in decrease in a flow of requests from clients, and in high-quality change of approach to them, Vladimir Turlachev, the head of IT outsourcing and technical support of Softline says.

"Present client requests mention not only the IT infrastructure and technological level of service expected by the client, they are more focused on business effect. Said about it long ago, but still a year ago this trend was not so explicit. Now it is possible to speak about the shift of accents in the field of technical support and IT outsourcing as about the come true fact", - he is sure.

Crisis became growth period for AMTEL-SERVICE.

"For AMTEL-SERVICE 2015 crisis year became year of opportunities and rapid growth. Services of IT outsourcing and service support became a key vector of development of the company and the main direction of business, - Dmitry Koshkin, the director of commercial department notes AMTEL-SERVICE. - Services of IT outsourcing are one of the most perspective directions of the Russian IT market. Before crisis a number of the large western companies having own representations in Russia traditionally adhered to the following scheme of work: they signed the centralized contract with large western integrator which performed support of the equipment or the system of vendor. Operation of the contract extended worldwide, including to Russia. After sharp jump of currency rate, payments in the invested currency became unreasonably high for many in Russia.

"In new conditions the Russian office of the western vendor had to look for alternative option on behalf of the local integrator having sufficient competences for replacement western", - Nikita Dergilev, the director of service and outsourcing of Technoserv company notes.

The situation and from the Russian side changed. For example, the Russian banks, the telecom companies, large industrial enterprises before crisis preferred to work under the direct contracts with the western vendors, getting technical support and services. Still quite recently the western producers acted in local market as direct competitors for the Russian integrators. Now large business was unrolled towards the Russian integrators and offers them major problems, aiming to receive necessary services in former volume, but also at the previous level of financing of projects.

"To achieve such result of the company go on less severe conditions at signing of the contract. New approach from business gave to the Russian integrators more freedom. They had an opportunity to look for solutions and to try to obtain the necessary quality of providing service", - Dergilev considers.

Demand sources

The greatest demand for IT services and IT outsourcing in 2014 was observed from industrial enterprises. It is explained by desire of the companies to increase release of domestic production during an era of sanctions, and, actually, capacities of the enterprises.

Respectively, the release of the Russian products has an impact on retail, especially in a segment of own retail of manufacturing companies. The IT is perceived by retail as the effective instrument of increase in competitive advantages, Alexander Rakhmanov, the CEO of CORUS Consulting Group considers.

The public sector in 2014 strengthened the positions as main driver of IT services. "This trend is caused, according to us, by need of ensuring high-quality providing IT services to users, end of stages of implementation of IT systems. Besides also transfer of many earlier "paper" processes to a bed of information systems affects", - Alexey Frolov, the head of department of management of IT services of LANIT-Integration company believes.

However use of IT services depends first of all not on specifics of activity of the company, and on an economic situation of the enterprise. For example, customers whom crisis avoided increased consumption of IT services, often changing requirements to KPI and setting new tasks. At the same time, the enterprises of fuel and energy complex because of drop in oil prices froze investment budgets within which IT projects were implemented.

"If to speak about forecasts until the end of the current year, then the situation in a segment of IT services for the energy industry enterprises will hardly change. The course of the oil companies towards increase in efficiency of activity which providing will require implementation of the innovative solutions and products can become one of potential drivers of growth of the companies rendering IT services for the oil-extracting sector", - Andrey Gnezdilov, the commercial director Parma Telecom (ITPS group) considers.

Demand for IT services decreased in the companies which have financial problems, Yury Panchenko, the associate director of the Service center for production organization of Jet Infosystems company confirms.

Not all customers could be reoriented in 2014 from platforms of foreign vendors on domestic and therefore continued to be calculated for services in dollars or euro. Such situation can change in 2015.

In 2014 the enterprises actively used service model at integration processes, in mobile application development, technical audit, expanded technical support, etc. TAdviser Report notes that the "pro-active" model of rendering services comes to the forefront while reaction upon breakdown ceases suit customers.

"Big customers began to pay close attention to status monitoring of corporate systems, resources and services and also costs for their operation. As a result of the enterprise actively invest in specialized management systems of IT which reporting information allows to make more exact and optimal decisions on support and development of IT in the conditions of crisis", - Alexey Frolov says.

The forecast for 2015

In 2015 the market will be supported by the "raskonservirvoanny" projects frozen earlier. Nevertheless, at the end of year TAdviser Report expects negative dynamics at the level of 8.5%. It is connected with the heavy first half of the year which many customers spent for adaptation under new conditions, review of budgets and shift of priorities for benefit of cheaper services which are not requiring large-scale reengineering of processes.

In 2015 the enterprises want to receive qualitative IT services for smaller money, than it was, for example, in 2013-2014. The escalating competition in the market of providing IT services, most likely, will lead to considerable improvement of quality at insignificant reduction in cost.

It is possible to designate the second half of the year thaw for the market of IT services. "A number of projects on which and our clients, and we as suppliers of a complex of IT services, lays great hopes started with the middle of year", - Olesya Lachugina from Galaktika corporation says.

Revival of the market in the second half of the year 2015 was noticed also by Vadim Kozyrev, the head of development of infrastructure decisions of department of computer systems of I-Teco.

"At the beginning of a year significant market recession both in a segment of works, and in a segment of sales of the equipment and software was observed that it is possible to explain with some care of customers at expenditure of budgets. Already in the second half of the 2015th we predict rather positive growth of the service industry because of the expenses postponed in the first part of year", - he says.

Nevertheless, growth at the end of 2015 is waited by none of respondents of TAdviser of experts. "During crisis the main focus is placed on maintenance of the existing state of affairs in IT, and smaller attention is paid to their development. The separate earlier planned projects continue to be implemented, but their budgets or volumes are significantly adjusted", - Frolov from Lanit notes.

"Most likely, in general the domestic market of IT services will drop by 10-12% in comparison with 2014. The number of projects will grow, but the amount of financing will not give feed to growth", - Olesya Lachugina considers. Stepan Tomlyanovich, the CEO of FORS group company also agrees with it. He speaks about falling of the market according to the results of the first half of the year for 10-15%. Similar indicators can be scaled also for all year.

"At customers is less and less spare cash therefore all aim to cut down as much as possible expenses by optimization of use of already available resources. Conditionally speaking, they want to receive the same volume of services, but for smaller money, at the same time trying to do as much as possible by own efforts", - Tomlyanovich adds.

Assessment of IDC

In July, 2014 analysts of IDC predicted growth of the market of IT services by 4% provided that there will be no escalation of the Ukrainian conflict and expansion of the western sanctions.

As a result according to the company, in 2014 the Russian market of IT services reduced volume in dollar expression by 15% and made $6.57 billion that in a ruble equivalent was expressed by a gain for 2.2% because of sharp depreciation of ruble to dollar.

The cumulative segment of system integration still is the largest in the market of IT services of Russia, its share of 42%, and the share of a cumulative segment of outsourcing services increased almost up to 18% and it is connected with low rates of decline in demand for such services.

Financial institutions were spent most for IT services in 2014, they are followed by the state organizations, close the three of the enterprise of the sector of telecommunications and mass media.

The forecast for 2015

2015 will become heavy for most of IT suppliers in Russia, and significant changes in the field of purchases and consumption of information technologies will create new opportunities for certain suppliers and business models, analysts consider.

According to Alexander Prokhorov, the research manager at IDC probably the current economic downturn will be more long, than in 2008 - 2009, but crisis – time of opportunities for those IT service providers who quickly react to change of an economic situation, is capable to optimize costs, to reorganize business processes, to involve highly skilled IT specialists and the whole collectives more available during this period. Such strategy, the analyst considers, will help not only to endure crisis, but to increase a share in the market.

2013

Data of TAdviser

By estimates of TAdviser, the Russian market of IT services and IT autsorsingarynok [2] in 2013 reached the volume of 297 billion rubles (taking into account cloud services; without cloud services - 286.030 billion rubles) that for 14% it is more than 2012 (then the market grew by 8% in relation to 2011 and made 260.339 billion rubles, in 2011 – 241.18 billion rubles). These data include as the main services rendered by the IT companies (consulting, system integration, the software installation and the equipment), and cloud services and, as stated above, IT outsourcing services.

The forecast of TAdviser for 2014 made no more than 10% of growth for the Russian market of IT services and IT outsourcing. In the second quarter 2014 the stable rate of IT market reeled because of the foreign policy implemented by the Russian Federation. It is not about specific sanctions which were imposed against Russia by the western economic partners, and that perspectives of many projects and partnership with the western companies appeared questionable if the situation will be aggravated though the hope for implementation of the "soft" scenario remains.

Anyway, the public sector was already considerably unrolled for benefit of the domestic equipment and software that is dictated by reasons of national security, and, so many new projects in this area, including on replacement of the existing systems and solutions will follow that partly compensates outflow of IT expenses in other sectors.

In structure of the Russian market of IT services cloud services showed the maximum growth rate though still occupy rather small share. So, by estimates of TAdviser, in 2013 the Russian cloud computing market reached of 10.97 billion rubles that is 50% higher, than in 2012 when the market made of 6.38 billion rubles (+70% by 2011). The share of cloud services generally "pie" of the market of IT services and IT outsourcing in 2012 made 2.5%, in 2013 – 3.7%.

Separately the IT outsourcing segment, by estimates of TAdviser, in 2013 made 60.88 billion rubles that for 15% it is more than 2012 (52.94 billion rubles). In the general revenue breakdown of IT service companies in 2012 20.3%, and in 2013 – about 20.5% were the share of IT outsourcing.

Growth of total revenue from implementation of other IT services was the slowest: it made in 2012 5.1%, in 2013 – 12%. 77.2%, in 2013 – 75.8% were the share of such services (system integration, consulting and other) in 2012.

As Irina Semyonova, the marketing vice president of Maykor commented, on the Russian market of IT services which year shows the steady growth especially noticeable against the background of cost reduction on the hardware.
"In our opinion, last year for IT services will not be an exception - the general dynamics will be positive. The Russian market of IT outsourcing, in turn, grows not only quicker than IT market in general, but also the IT services quicker developing. In other words, IT outsourcing – one of drivers of the market", - she noted.

However, some respondents of TAdviser of market participant, arguing on results 2013 and perspectives of 2014, expressed restraint. For example, Vladislav Anufriyev, the development director of outsourcing Jet Infosystems said that at the end of the 2013th the companies on a number of segments became more careful in the expenses. "The similar situation is observed at the moment practically at all", - he noted.

Vsevolod Egupov, the head of ICT sales department of the solutions T-Systems CIS (T-Systems CIS) considered that growth in the market of IT services is, but it is insignificant.

"Now it is a high time to think not of scale-up problems, and profitability. At the time of crises or stagnation of world economy focus is displaced", - Vsevolod Egupov said.
"Growth is not noticeable, no more than 5%. Big costs for holding the Olympic Games in Sochi affected reduction of financing of other state projects in the field of IT. Still reserved demand in sectors of Enterprise, SMB, Soho is available", - solidary Alexander Shchipkov, the development director of Borlas concluded with it.

IDC Data

According to the report of Russia IT Services 2014-2018 Forecast and 2013 Analysis of IDC company, the volume of the Russian market of IT services in 2013 grew almost by 8% and was $7.7 billion (269.8 billion rubles at the rate of the Central Bank for July 24, 2014). In 2013 analysts of IDC predicted that the market of services will grow on average for 12% a year, however the indicator had to be lowered because of deterioration in economic country situation and a capital outflow, the researches manager of IDC Alexander Prokhorov explains.

IT services occupied 22% of all IT market of Russia, the representative of IDC Sergey Loginov noted. Proceeding from these digits all Russian IT industry earned in 2013 about $35.15 billion (1232 billion rubles at the rate of the Central Bank for July 26, 2014).

Shares of IT services on types

The Segment of outsourcing services showed the largest growth in 2013 - its share made nearly 17%.

Most actively the hosting of infrastructure services grew. In 2013 it rose almost by 43%. High growth showed the "Hosting of Service and Administration of Software" subsegment.

Analysts noted rather rapid growth of outsourcing in Russia, concerning other types of IT services, but its share is significantly lower than in the countries of the West. The largest domestic companies prefer to be guided by internal IT resources.

The market of IT services of the Russian Federation slows down rates of development and active growth in a segment of cloud services - in SaaS sector, an exception. Some providers SaaS showed business growth many times as business of Microsoft in the market of cloud services in Russia grew, business of Salesforce dynamically developed. The number of domestic developers continues to grow in this sector of the market.

In 2013 financial institutions were in the lead on level of consumption of IT services, they were followed by public sector, telecommunication and media companies.

In July, 2013 IDC lowered the forecast of growth of the Russian market of services, estimating its cumulative annual average growth in 2013 - 2017 about 12%. However, despite decrease in growth rates, the market will save positive dynamics in the next years, Alexander Prokhorov, the research manager at IDC considers, construction of new data processing centers, implementation of cloud services, distribution of mobile technologies, including due to construction of LTE networks will continue.

"The market of IT services will be supported by long-term state projects and also the projects aimed at improving competitiveness, first of all in bank, telecommunication and retail sectors", - the analyst predicted.

2012

By estimates of TAdviser, the Russian market of IT services and IT outsourcing in 2012 made of 260.339 billion rubles that for 8% it is more than 2011. From them 6.38 billion rubles were the share of cloud services, 52.34 billion rubles - of IT outsourcing, other 201.019 billion rubles - of other IT services, including implementation consulting and system integration.

The amount of the Russian market of IT services, according to IDC in 2012 grew almost by 11% and was $6.58 billion - in comparison with results of 2011 indicators of 2012 speak about considerable decrease in rates. System integration - the largest segment of the market of IT services of Russia, its share - 28.5%. The Segment of development of the custom software was slightly reduced (26.3%). It should be noted that, on terminology of IDC, the market of IT services does not include IT outsourcing which is considered separately.

Outsourcing market, according to IDC, in 2012 grew up up to 15.7%. The amount of outsourcing of IT systems (The services provided on the long-term agreement according to which the client transfers a considerable part of the IT infrastructure to complete management or property) increased from outsourcing market subsegments in 2012 almost for 60%. Dynamics of growth of this subsegment is affected by the western companies.

In the annual status report on the market of services in Russia, of August 22, 2013, by prime vendors - Competitive Profiles and Analysis of Leading IT Services Players in Russia, 2013, as the market leader of IT services, at the end of 2012, the Research Firm IDC selected NVision - it significantly improved the positions due to merge to SITRONICS. Among the leading suppliers: IBS, CROC, LANIT, Technoserv. Cumulative share of top five in the total amount of the market of 29.5%.

In the banking sector of economy the CROC company became the leading service provider, and in the state and telecommunication sectors NVision is in the lead.

In a research continuation of consolidation of IT services in the Russian market in 2012 is noted. Analysts consider sign merge of NVision to SITRONICS, expansion of the IT outsourcer of MAYKOR and note the aggressive growth of the competition on many segments of the market, including in outsourcing.

2011

According to TAdviser, the Russian market of IT services and IT outsourcing in 2011 reached of 241.18 billion rubles from which 3.95 billion rubles were the share of cloud services, 46.03 billion rubles - of IT outsourcing, and 191.2 billion rubles - of other IT services, including implementation consulting and system integration.

According to the report of IDC of July, 2012, the amount of the Russian market of IT services (without IT outsourcing) in 2011 grew by 27.2% and was $5.94 billion. Despite rather slow growth, system integration remained the largest sector of the market of IT services in Russia last year from shares of 28.5%, having only a little outstripped the sector of development of the custom software. The share of outsourcing grew slightly, having made 14.2%.

At unusually high rates in 2011 the segment of installation and support of the equipment grew that was connected with large-scale projects on implementation of the equipment in large DPCs in the banking sector. At the expense of it the share of services of installation and support increased up to 19.4%.

According to IDC, in 2011 financial institutions were the main consumers of IT services still, they were followed by the state and telecommunication companies. Expenses on IT grew in all industries, at the same time most dynamically demand for IT services grew in sectors of insurance, professional services and health care.

On September 3, 2012 IDC published the second part of the report of Competitive Profiles and Analysis of Leading IT Services Players in Russia at the end of 2011.

According to the published data, new top five of IT services in the Russian segment there were companies Croc IBS Lanit, Technoserv and EPAM Systems (EPAM Systems) (according to earlier read data, IBS which Croc, Technoserv, Lanit and Epam Systems followed was the leader of this segment).

As reported TAdviser in IDC, the cumulative share of top five of the market made about 28% of the market of IT services in Russia which total amount (taking into account the offshore and the subcontract) is predicted at the level of 6.89 billion dollars. In the amount turnover of top five made more than 1.947 billion dollars. At the same time a year ago this indicator was at the level of 24.6% - 1.329 billion dollars.

According to analysts were in the greatest demand of the IT service among banks where the company became the leading supplier CROC. In the state and telecommunication sectors the companies LANIT and Technoserv respectively became leaders.

The Russian players save the leading positions in the domestic market, considerably advancing on an annual turnover in the field of IT services of foreign competitors. NR company which was the only foreign company in the list of the leading IT service providers before left top ten. Nevertheless, the involvement of the foreign companies into the Russian projects continues to grow thanks to emergence of the increasing number of partnership between the Russian and foreign suppliers.

Russian market of IT services of 2009-2011

According to IDC, the Russian market of IT services in 2010 reached of $4.7 billion (+30% to data of 2009). According to Asteros, the volume of the Russian market of IT services at the end of 2010 was 4.1 billion dollars. Unlike more optimistic estimates of the analytical agencies, according to Asteros, growth of the market of IT services was modest and was no more than 15%.

Actually, 2010 became year of "Renaissance" for the Russian market of IT services. It completed the whole era which is marked by the following facts:

  • "Golden Age" of implementation ERP remained in the past. The peak of implementation of classical ERP systems (for automation of basic functions of the enterprise) fell on 2007-2008. This segment considerably contracted in crisis not only because of an adverse economic conjuncture — correction was inevitable. Nevermore the segment of classical ERP systems will reach the volume of 2008. It will be recovered by 2012, but due to implementing solutions of related classes — CRM BI and so forth;

  • IT outsourcing did not show dizzy growth. This segment was an unambiguous favourite on which the IT companies in the last 5 years did the largest rates. The expected extreme growth of the direction of IT outsourcing in Russia did not happen. However its potential still remains high — attractive this segment does development of new services which will be in the long term demanded, for example, services in the SaaS model;

  • The technology of virtualization subdued Russia. According to the experts Asteros any DPC which is under construction in our country does not do without technologies of virtualization.

According to IDC if to speak about structure of the consumed services, then the share of system integration in 2010 decreased a little, however this category of services remains to the most demanded. The highest growth rates were shown by consulting. It is connected with changes in an economic situation and, as a result, with updating of IT strategy, relevance of security issues and also the need for more active involvement of external experts.

According to IDC, the financial sector came out on top on consumption of IT services in 2010, having pressed public institutions. On the one hand, led the budget deficit which caused freezing of a number of projects in a public sector to it. On the other hand, fast recovery of banks after crisis had a considerable impact on an alignment of forces. The highest growth rates were shown by the sector of retail.

2009

The first five places in the market of IT services in the rating of IDC were taken by domestic companies IBS, Croc, Technoserv, Lanit and EPAM Systems (EPAM Systems) (in decreasing order). The American Hewlett-Packard (HP) got the sixth place. IBS saved the market share of IT services more than 6%. In a segment of implementation of business applications of IBS it is called the absolute leader, its share makes 17.5% here.

Indicators of 87 companies were analyzed, and not revenue of players, but costs from clients for works of participants of rating was compared. Total sums include also offshore developments at the expense of what Epam positions were strong. Without foreign customers this company was not among leaders.

The total share of the first five made slightly more than a quarter of the market – 26%. With such indicator in IDC call IT services strongly fragmented segment in comparison with another, studied its analysts. The share of HP makes 3% and is approximately twice lower, than at the leaders of the rating on the volume of IT services. As explained CNews in IDC, the company managed to rise to the sixth place in rating at the expense of contracts for support of infrastructure of customers.

Considerable part of the means spent by the companies for payments of HP fell on support of the systems made by the American vendor speak in IDC. "If other IT services at the end of 2009 sank, having lowered revenues of system integrators, then not to avoid support of the equipment to customers anywhere, all of them will equally pay for it", - add analytics. It should be noted that HP not the first time gets in Top-10 of the Russian rating. In 2007 the company took the 8th place approximately with the same share in 3%.

Despite significant reduction, the share of services of system integration still remained the greatest, are sure of IDC. All functional segments suffered from crisis, at the same time expenses on services in support of the hardware and applications were reduced in a smaller measure as many large organizations, first of all banks and telecommunication companies, could not refuse them. Most costs for services in the field of IT training, development of the custom software and complex strategic outsourcing decreased.

In general, expectations of the Russian IT community concerning increase in volume of services of outsourcing during crisis were not met, consider in IDC. The cumulative share of outsourcing in 2009 grew less than by one percent, having made 13.3%. At the same time demand for different forms of outsourcing in 2009 significantly differed. If the share of complex long-term outsourcing (information systems) was reduced, then the share of the simplest form of outsourcing (service of computer and network equipment) increased.

At the end of 2009 the state and financial institutions remained the largest consumers of IT services in Russia in 2009. Their shares from the total costs of IT services in the country made according to 19.1% and 18.6%.

At the beginning of crisis there were concerns that the banking sector will experience serious difficulties and its share in the total costs of IT services will decrease. However thanks to the help to the largest Banks of Russia from the state and also strong dependence of financial institutions on services in support of crucial IT systems, the sector share in the total amount of the market of IT services not only was not reduced, but even grew a little. On the third and fourth place on demand for IT services there were telecommunication (13.0%) and power (12.9%) companies.

2008

According to IDC, in 2008 the most demanded rendered services of system integration to which share more than 20% of the market fell.

Local IT service providers still hold the leading positions – in top ten there is no foreign company, speak in IDC. The Russian integrators have closer relationship with local customers, especially in public sector and in defense industry, and often act as general contractors in large strategic projects. The foreign companies, as a rule, render services as subcontractors in similar projects.

The state organizations (19.2% of the total costs of IT services in the country) and also financial (16.9%), telecommunication (13%) and power (12.9%) the companies were the largest consumers of IT services in Russia in 2008, according to IDC.

All consumers of IT services it is possible to divide into two categories differing by opportunities of investments and understanding of need of informatization. The first are those who, buying IT services, buy image (brand). The second purchase means for development, and often — for survival.

Investing in IT, the companies can be guided not so much by increase in efficiency of the business processes how many on development of image. In this case they use the invited IT consultants (only from the companies with a world name) to add own brand, to show financial opportunities and the identity with world leaders. A price factor here actually do not matter.

The companies of other type, ordering IT projects, first of all solve pressing problems of cost reduction of production and optimization of corporate management. Such consumers very carefully calculate both costs, and benefits which are created by work of the consultant, aim to choose the last often from among "" — Russian, knowing that domestic consultants feel better (feel) problems of the local enterprises.

Also among consumers of IT services it is possible to select the following types: rich large enterprises which management sees for informatization the place in general strategy of development of the company; rich large enterprises which management does not see big advantage of the order of IT services; medium-sized enterprises for which informatization is a current problem; medium-sized enterprises which it is similar similar large do not see need for the order of IT services; small enterprises which it is normal further the 1C: Accounting installation do not go.

Treat the rich enterprises creating the main share of turnover of the IT market or those who are going to enter the world markets and it is necessary for them "for creation of the person" to have the modern systems, or those who prepare for sale (like Svyazinvest) and to them himself needs also to raise the price. Is, however, and such who do not pursue any of these two aims, just their management is rather progressive to understand that if not to make now, then it can be late tomorrow.

However, many enterprises of this level stand on rather conservative positions. At different forums and the presentations which like to carry out the IT companies it is often possible to observe approximately such picture. Behind the long story about a product where it is implemented what results and problems of the project, the question quite often follows: "How after implementation the customer's products fell in price?" The logic is clear here: if you say that informatization reduces costs, so it reduces cost value, so, it should affect profitability somehow. But as informatization lasts not one day, cost value already manages to grow for absolutely other reasons and to notice effect of informatization quite difficult.

Concerning other types of IT services of scepticism it is even more. What means the order the enterprise of the IT service? It means that it signed the agreement with the IT company, then some people came, long went, talked to internal IT specialists, watched something, studied, and then issued volume of pages on 200 with the recommendations. And even if the IT company worked well, revealed real problems and made competent recommendations which are clear to employees of internal IT department, to inform of sense of the done work the top management quite difficult. Quite another matter, if the order of the IT service becomes with the purpose to withdraw some money from under taxation. In this sense of the IT service it is not worse than the others. And though we do not know sizes of the market pseudo of IT services, nevertheless, like that exists, and consumers on it are too. Moreover, its existence only increases scepticism of consumers because a priori it is hard to say what IT firm got used to work for rollbacks and what renders really informative services.

Usually are meant by the large rich enterprises such where two conditions are at the same time satisfied: existence of difficult business processes and big turnovers. If the consumer has difficult business processes, and there are no resources for reduction them in an order, then such enterprise is not rather significant player in IT market. Moreover, such enterprises, as a rule, are depressive and steadily move to bankruptcy. If to take average firms consumers, then from them the same, as at large unless turnovers are more modest also than opportunities less. On the other hand and business processes it is simpler.

Medium-sized enterprises are quite dynamic in IT market, they experiment with new products more often, send the employees for training more often, care for the information infrastructure better. To that there are three reasons. The first: it is extremely important to enterprises of this plan to keep in the market and to win new niches, to become, eventually, large. It stimulates to search new, including information, solutions. The second: it is less than bureaucracy, it is less than policy, so, decisions are more simply and quicker made. The third: many have no Soviet background, therefore, less developments of stagnation, more dynamic thinking at heads. Such enterprises, though cannot compete with large by quantity of the money spent in IT market, nevertheless make the considerable, and, above all growing its segment.

The forecast for 2016-2018

In the long term growth of a segment of medium business in structure of customers is expected. It is necessary to expect that also the number of clients in regions which will actively consume IT services will grow up. Besides, long time representatives of medium business took a waiting attitude and were skeptical about IT outsourcing.

"Five more – had to be explained seven years ago to clients of benefit who are capable to give IT services, to show efficiency on specific cases and to decompose all costs subject to optimization on shelves. Today clients already understand everything and in search of instruments of overcoming crisis address suppliers at once", - Olesya Lachugina notes.

It is possible that in so long term the cloud model of rendering IT services more will be widely adopted. Now it is not demanded because of the shortage of DPCs, not development of standards, the insufficient capacity of channels, communication and on some other the reasons.

"Over time, when these problems will be solved, not only private, but also public clouds will be able to enter firmly our life", - Stepan Tomlyanovich considers. "The Russian companies, looking at trends of development of the world market, even more often consider options of migration of a part of business functions in clouds or integration of the local systems with cloud solutions and applications. We see great interest of clients to these projects and solutions", - Alexander Rakhmanov said.

Most likely, that by this time domestic suppliers will have finished products and solutions capable to press import vendors. According to Stepan Tomlyanovich, import substitution can cause certain changes in structure of the market of IT services towards increase in a share of consulting: transition to a new product is always the analysis of what is, and what the customer wants to receive a miscalculation of risks, completion and setup of a system. However now the segment of development of import-substituting software of any notable influence on dynamics of the market of IT services does not render.
