He also noted that the liquidity of a portfolio of the corporate credits issued by means of artificial intelligence is at the positive level, he noted.

Sberbank actively implements artificial intelligence in operating activities. The profit share which is provided by these technologies by the beginning of June, 2019 makes 30–40%. This indicator is going to increase to 50–70% in the nearest future, Vedyakhin on PIEF of 2019 said.

Earlier  the head Sberbankagerman Gref  spoke about reduction up to 70% of middle managers after system implementation with artificial intelligence. Most of such employees send for retraining and leave in bank.[1]

Agreement with Rambler Group on implementation of priority projects

On June 06, 2019 Sberbank reported that together with Rambler Group signed the agreement on operational partnership on implementation of priority projects, in particular, connection of the Rambler Group resources to Sberbank of ID, priority use acquiring and promotion in network of bank online movie theater Okko.

Within connection to Sberbank of ID of the party intend to provide information and technology exchange for authentication of users at access to information resources of Rambler Group. Thus, it will be possible to visit the websites Rambler Group by the uniform login and the password for the Ecosystem of Sberbank.

The parties also agreed about priority use of acquiring of Bank if it will be commercially reasonable for Rambler Group.

According to the agreement, in June the project during which in a number of bank departments in Moscow it will be offered to visitors to get acquainted with Okko also starts. Employees of the bank will tell about opportunities of online movie theater and, in case of interest from client side, will help to issue a fact-finding subscription on special conditions. Also the decision to include Rambler Group services (tickets in film network and a subscription to a basic packet of Okko) in the pilot package digital offer of bank for clients was made.

In the annual report for 2018 published in April, Sberbank told about the first results of work of the innovation laboratories created in bank at the end of 2017 and 2018. Laboratory blockchain

On the basis of blockchain technologies Sberbank developed the solution for carrying out repo transactions based on the Russian legislation and the English legal practice. The repo is a forward transaction on sale or security purchase with the obligation of the subsequent redemption or sale of their certain packet through some term.

Besides, in 2018 the solution for reconciliation of the fact of delivery of factoring transactions was translated to the Hyperledger platform and also testing of solutions for implementation of transactions with mortgages, to guarantees and letters of credit based on the MasterChain together with Fintech association was held.

Laboratory of cyber security

Sberbank developed prototypes of AR points with biometric identification on the person for physical security, the system of the entrusted providing and exchange of digital documents for citizens of the Russian Federation, a workplace prototype a fraud analytics in VR. Sberbank could not tell TAdviser at the time of the publication as these technologies will be applied.

IoT laboratory — Internet of Things

In 2018 the prototype of "A smart barrier" allowing to perform journey and payment of the parking through Bluetooth the channel of phone was developed. Also the concept Smart VSP (VSP - department, where are provided services of financial institution) allowing to raise the security level and comfort of clients and employees and to cut down operating expenses was developed.

Laboratory of artificial intelligence

Sberbank created library of the analysis of tonality of text customer appeals using technologies of deep training and visualization and also the general library of creation and testing of the recommendatory systems. The first implementation of an algorithm of the meta-training significantly accelerating and simplifying development of standard models was developed.

Besides, new methods of interpretation of neural networks are developed, researches of use of the AI tools in medicine are started.

Laboratory of virtual and augmented reality

The prototype of the virtual assistant using technologies of augmented reality was developed, development of the VR exercise machine for remote training and the VR platform of the presentation of the real estate is initiated.

Laboratory of gamification

Sberbank developed the system of game achievements of the employees increasing performance to 50%, said in the annual report of bank. The new system of levels for the loyalty program "Sberbank Thanks" and also a concept of development, motivation and training of employees for an intelligent system of management of bank is developed. In addition, the prototype for training of young people of generation Z in a game at the stock market is started.

Laboratory of robotics

Sberbank developed, patented and started testing of robotic section of recalculation of cash. The bank says that feature of its implementation is the joint activity of the robot and the person allowing to increase labor productivity three times. Besides, experimental delivery of bank values using the unmanned aerial vehicle was carried out.

The laboratory of robotics conducts own researches in logistic and personal robotics, integrating new hardware solutions with opportunities of the systems of artificial intelligence developed in Sberbank.

In Sberbank for the end of 2018 on 53 processes program robots functioned, from them 30 processed 100% of industrial volume of transactions, and on 23 processes 50–80% of industrial volume were processed. Speed of separate client processes due to robotization grew at 4-10 times, claim in Sberbank. In bank the competence from 200 experts in robotization of processes was created.

Sberbank announced on February 25, 2019 the plans to algoritmizirovat 99% of the currency transactions during 2019.

Automation of conventional processes saves the most valuable resource — time of our clients and employees. It will also allow to find more time for large deals, transactions in illiquid hours, to transactions with rare currencies which will still require manual transactions — Andrey Shemetov, the vice president of Sberbank, the Head of Department of global markets.

As noted in bank, during 2018 the number of client transactions with currency which are processed by robotic algorithms, grew from 50% to 90%. In 2019 it is going to raise this indicator to 99%. At the same time change of number of traders did not happen, but in territorial subdivisions the bank achieved significant optimization of labor costs of the employees who were engaged in starting "manual" transactions.

As of February, 2019 Sberbank also actively uses algorithms in operations with stocks and considers the possibility of development in other assets.

The new technology platform of Sberbank - is more than DevOps, Big Data and artificial intelligence

In the annual report for 2017 Sberbank reported on development of the new technology platform. The platform which development began in 2015 consists of three principal components: "Single Frontal System" (SFS), "Platform of support of business" (PPRB) and Factory of data. Transfer on it of clients, products and data is planned by 2020.

As of the middle of 2018 operations on the new platform are performed in the pilot mode, said in the report of Sberbank. Some time old and new platforms will work in parallel. It will allow imperceptibly for clients and without loss for bank to pass many stages of difficult migrations.

By a present situation we created a basis of a technology platform: completed the formation technology a component of a core and created building tools of business services which belong to a business hub. Now we move in several directions at once including because big scales of our business require many efforts and time for implementation of changes, - Sberbank in the annual report notes.

Within creation of the new platform more than 500 projects are implemented.

Single frontal system

In 2017 the new version of the EFS 7.0 platform with higher level of reliability and performance due to support of the mode of deployment in multibank architecture and the Stand-In mode providing increase in fault tolerance and seamless updating of functional subsystems of the platform was developed. Also mass implementation of new target development process of EFS using "work benches of development was begun. Sberbank explains that it will allow one command to implement solutions for all channels, as much as possible to pereispolzovat already implemented objects and services, to reduce number of errors due to auto-generation of standard functional units and also to reduce time of training of new employees.

Besides, in 2017 the bank defined the quality standard of the EFS platform. Its accomplishment is controlled on 12 metrics. Use of the standard cut quantity of errors on a test stage by half and allowed to achieve that 50% of errors are eliminated within 8 hours.

Platform of support of business

In 2017 improvement of internal processes of work of the platform of support of business was carried out. For example, the cluster of the platform was expanded on 160 nodes that it provides data storage in the geodistributed mode. Also in the platform the mechanism of fault tolerance and reliability was implemented, recovery of its working capacity without data loss in case of an incident is provided, the interface of integration with Factory of data, the technology and basic application services of a core of the platform necessary for product factories are implemented, application development tools are expanded.

End-to-end process of DevOps is applied on a technology core of the platform, basic platform services, the client module and the module "Transfers of PPRB".

Among changes which happened in a platform business hub - key services "Uniform Profile of the Client of Physical Persons and Legal Entities (EPFYuL)", "Uniform Product Catalog and Rates", "Dynamic Pricing", "Service packages", "Access Control to Data of the Client", "Online Compliance Control" were implemented. Also Sberbank implemented decision making process using machine learning and artificial intelligence.

One of platform components - product factories. In 2017 Sberbank brought into commercial operation factories "Trade Acquiring", "Trade Financing and Documentary Operations", functionality of Zalogi factory on mortgage objects (the real estate, the equipment and transport, goods in turnover, cars) and completed the circulation of functionality of maintaining agreements of acquiring, trade and service points and POS terminals. The bank brought several product factories into trial operation.

Factory of data

In 2017 the key systems "Factories of Data" for work with Big Data on Hadoop technologies – Cloud of Data and Laboratory of Data were implemented and put into commercial operation. To the middle of 2018 into "A cloud of data" information from 34 systems containing data from internal and external sources is loaded. In 2017 on the basis of the data coming to Cloud the first show-windows with information on physical persons and legal entities were created. Show-windows represent data warehouse cuts in the directions.

Also the first data domains of the Uniform Semantic Layer (USL) of Factory of data were created.

By 2020 we are going to provide receipt in Cloud of all data demanded by consumers, to output all data, necessary for business, in a format of show-windows and to complete creation of ESS, - Sberbank in the annual report notes.

Based on Laboratory of data experiments and researches of data, including on creation of infrastructure for work with data science as the models using methods of intelligent data analysis are conducted. The bank calculates that this work will allow to support implementation of its initiatives in the field of artificial intelligence.

Sberbank and 1C signed the agreement on cooperation

On May 24, 2018 godau on St. Petersburg International Economic Forum Sberbank and the company "1C" signed the agreement on cooperation in the field of integration of the products and services for corporate financing, financing of investment and export activities and also other banking activities and services. The agreement was signed by the senior vice president of Sberbank Anatoly Popov and the director of the company of 1C Boris Nuraliyev.

The agreement determines the long-term strategy of the parties by providing to clients modern technologies of the protected electronic exchange of documents, allowing to improve and develop access for users to bank services of Sberbank directly from accounting and ERP systems of 1C.

Sberbank and 1C company cooperate in the field of integration of the products and information systems. Many clients of Sberbank successfully use a possibility of carrying out payments and obtaining statements directly in the programs "1C:Enterprise 8", increasing safety of data exchange between programs of 1C and Sberbank Business Online Internet bank. Also clients of Sberbank have an opportunity to hand over the reporting of borrowers from 1C: Accounting 8 in bank "in one click", automatically creating necessary reports of the accounting system and easily sending them to bank via secure channels of communication.

Sberbank entered consortium on development of Internet of Things

Sberbank was included into consortium of Competence center of wireless communication and Internet of Things. Among its participants there is the Skolkovo institute of science and technologies (Skoltech), Atomstroyexport, Gazpromneft, the Russian space systems, Phillips and others. The consortium also included about 10 universities and research centers conducting the corresponding developments.

The competence center will initiate researches in the field of Internet of Things, to implement results of scientific developments in business, to promote an output of products and services to international market and also to develop standards of the industry and educational programs. The consortium is going to invest in scientific research 90 million rubles in 2018, and to 200 million rubles — in 2022.

Among potentially interesting to Sberbank following directions of development of technology Internet of Things: "smart building", "smart shop", "smart city" and eHealth. In several bank departments projects of collecting of telemetered informations and remote control are already implemented. Also interests Sberbank development of the concept of Bank of things — automatic payments which can enter different devices without participation of the person.

To provide the market with the personnel, the Center will develop training programs in the field of Internet of Things for bachelors, masters and graduate students. Some programs will be implemented together with foreign universities: the agreement on cooperation was already signed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA) and the Technical university of Munich (Germany).

Development of a neuronet for assessment of a commercial real estate

As it became known in February, 2018, Sberbank developed service on the basis of algorithms of deep machine learning for mass assessment of the commercial real estate acting as one of the most popular types of pledge. For the choice of the most suitable analogs the neural network processing information on characteristics of an object, its location, pedestrian traffic, price zoning and also proximity more than to 200 categories POI is used (point of interest, interest points).

Service automates routine process of selection of objects analogs, leaving to specialists a bigger stock of time for expert work. As a result terms of evaluating are reduced from several days to minutes at simultaneous increase in its quality. Besides, due to use of a single platform the methodology and approaches to assessment is unified.

As of February 9, service covers 36 largest cities of Russia with the population more than half a million people and is used for assessment of street retail objects. Sberbank plans its expansion for other segments of a commercial real estate.


Software updating brought down the platform of Sberbank Cards

Gref noted that 40% of losses of transactions — big failure, and 50 minutes — rather long period for such incident. According to him, during failure a system passed into standby mode of functioning.

On December 8 in the evening Sberbank warned that a part of clients could face restrictions when carrying out "some operations" with cards.

Before in performing transactions according to cards Sberbank warned the clients about similar difficulties on November 30. The credit institution then explained the incident with technical reasons.

Sberbank provided new IT strategy on TAdviser SummIT

The senior managing director of the Technologies block Sberbankapavel Hodalev at the TAdviser SummIT conference which took place on November 29, 2017 told about a current status of IT in Sberbank and new technology strategy.

In 2017 in Sberbank there was creation of the trimodalny organization. Hodalev explained that Gartner has a concept of the bimodal organization: when the cascade methodology of development and Agile-approaches are combined. In turn, Sberbank selected the Run directions (support of the current processes and transactions), Change (replacement of the current bank processes by more effective) and Disrupt (creation of new processes and products for competitive advantage). For management of all this also the Governance direction was selected.

In the Run direction in Sberbank the big strategic program of increase in availability of critical IT systems comes to the end. For four years the bank invested in that technology windows and windows of idle time of such systems were measured for hours a year, Hodalev noted.

Development the Agile-expert in Sberbank became the important direction. The purpose of bank – to transfer all Change direction to Agile, and in 2017 there was an important milestone – about 7 thousand people from IT and business jointly work now in the Agile mode, closing retail business, corporate business and what belongs to creation of strategic platforms.

In 2017 Sberbank also began development of platforms in the Disrupt direction: 3 innovation laboratories are constructed.

From other significant things – on the way to that the bank became the technology company, in it the institute of CDO (Chef data officer) and institute of CDS (Chief data scientist) is created. These are the centralized institutes - one works for management of corporate data models and synchronization of how data flow from a system in a system, and the second is responsible for creation of models which then are used in projects on artificial intelligence.

Development by Run, Change and Disrupt blocks is also provided in it. In the Run block there is a place of robotization for automation of workflows and to machine learning. These technologies, expect in Sberbank, will give the greatest exhaust both in a back office, and in IT to release people from inappropriate transactions – "martyshkiny work".

In Sberbank centralization of banking systems was carried out about two years ago earlier, and the centralized banking system, but when this project was complete is created, it turned out that it will not be enough under the growing volumes of business and plans for further business development, Hodalev noted.

Then the bank began creation of own bank platform. In the nearest future in Sberbank expect to reach stability of this platform at the level of 99.99% of availability.

Among plans of the Change block – start of own bank platform, implementation of new versions of online bank and mobile application. In plans also – total DevOps and transition from highly specialized work to work of commands.

We consider that in work of commands - that following level of efficiency which we cannot receive now, just giving to people other rules of the game. With it we go to Sbergile, - the representative of Sberbank noted.

In terms of the Disrupt block - piloting of platforms and services of an ecosystem Sber# and creation of 8 laboratories with new focus. Before laboratory were focused on a research of new technologies and if there was something attractive to business, then technologies suggested to give to business for creation of technological solutions. Now the specific objective will be set for each laboratory – to issue industrial result.

Regarding the Governance block there are development plans for data management – development of competences which in bank never were, and reduction of the direction of data to uniform model.

Concerning employee development in Sberbank go the way concepts of "T-Shaped people" - in fact, it is a synonym of "the universal soldier", Pavel Hodalev explained.

We try to leave highly specialized engineers and specialists to more universal soldiers because only such universal soldiers can in a command be effective, - he explained.

Speaking about the near-term outlook, Hodalev noted that for 2018 one of key projects – start of new data center in Skolkovo which will become the key location of infrastructure of Sberbank. Also until the end of 2018 total transfer of development in Sbergile is planned. Development of 8 laboratories which it was mentioned earlier, - among priorities for 2018. With development of the innovation component the bank will approach emergence of a new position at the level of board members – Chief innovation officer.

The TAdviser SummIT conference took place in Moscow on November 29, 2017 and attracted more than 400 participants. Principal themes of an action are IT plans of the largest companies and state departments of Russia for 2018, perspectives of development of digital economy, IT products and services. The plan of replacement of call center agents for artificial intelligence in 3-5 years

The head of Sberbank added that already now some services of bank work practically in the automatic mode. According to him, 99% of solutions on the credits to natural persons are accepted automatically, without participation of staff of credit institution.

Transition to electronic interaction with state agencies

The Government of the Russian Federation supported offers of PJSC Sberbank on transition to electronic interaction of banks with state bodies.

The amendments adopted at the request of the first Deputy Prime Minister I.I. Shuvalov in the Order of Government No. 1471-r open access to banks to 20 new document types and data on physical persons and legal entities using the system of interdepartmental electronic interaction (SIEI). The corresponding doument are published on  the official Internet portal of legal information.

"It is about tax statements, constituent documents from Tax administration, data on the real estate from Rosreestr, accounting records from Rosstat. It will allow clients of bank next year not to request paper documents from state bodies to open the bank account, to obtain the credit. Banks will receive documents directly from state bodies, at the same time the data containing personal data will be provided in bank with the consent of the client. It is a big step to fast  paperless financing of business" — the vice president of Sberbank Andrey Sharov noted

Staff of Sberbank received the status of developers in community Apache

The command of the program of creation "Platform of support and business development" of Sberbank received the status of open-source developers of community Apache Software Foundation (ASF). Sberbank reported about it in the annual report for 2016 which appeared in April. They had an opportunity to develop open source components of a technology stack of platforms Apache.

"The platform of support of business development" of Sberbank-Technologii company provides revolutionary transformation of all applications of Sberbank entering Core Banking circuit. In development the newest technologies of distributed computing in memories and operations of applications with large volumes of data in real time –In-Memory Data Grid are applied.

Sberbank told TAdviser that all about 1500 developers are involved in drafts of the platform of support and business development, but not all of them participate in open source projects. Sberbank noted that open source projects in general – the direction, rather new to them, therefore so far the bank defines strategy, a format and volume of participation in each specific project.

Among projects of Apache on which Sberbank as of spring of 2017 - Apache Ignite is focused (the universal platform for the distributed in-memory of calculations), Kafka (the distributed platform of stream processing and data transmission).

Also the bank participates in the WildFly project (Java the EE application server) which develops with assistance of Red Hat.

Sberbank considers participation in open source projects Spring, ZeroMq, Akka Hadoop, Ceph, ReactJs, Activiti and some other.

Part from these projects have high degree of a maturity and strong community therefore the issue of formats of participation of Sberbank in them will be surely discussed, added in Sberbank.

Saving more than 1 billion rubles at tenders on testing of automated systems

At the end of February - the beginning of March, 2017 Sberbank summed up the results of two tenders on execution of works on functional and stress testing of automated systems. Totally both purchases consisted of 20 lots, and their total initial cost equaled nearly 3.5 billion rubles[1][2].

Participants of tenders became known in November, 2016. Submitted applications for the tender for stress testing of the crucial systems (Mission & Business Critical) to the company Luxoft Professional Aplana, ITs I-Teco "Technoserv of AS" Performance Lab. "Bell Integrator", AT Consulting and Jet Infosystems.

In different lots of this tender (only 9 lots) contractors were offered to check work of core automated systems, systems on the platform BPM, the systems of type CRM and BI, automated systems on management of the credits, risks and investments, processing and so forth. The total ceiling maximum cost on all lots was 1.34 billion rubles.

On functional (manual and automated) submitted testing of systems applications of 13 companies for 11 lots of tender: Aplana, "Technoserv of AS", BFT, ITs "I-Teco" Smart Group "Technologies of quality", Performance Lab EPAM Systems Lanit Auriga, AT Consulting, Diasoft and Bell Integrator.

In this tender contractors were offered to carry out inspections of automated systems of a core, automated systems like FrontEnd, the processing systems, CRM and BI systems, credit automated systems, automated systems on the SAP platform and others. The total ceiling price on all lots was 2.13 billion rubles.

On each lot in documentation the necessary number of staff of specialists in functional or stress testing made a reservation. So, for example, for stress testing of automated systems on management of the credits the contractor had to have not less than 40 relevant employees in the state, and for functional testing of BI systems there were enough four specialists.

At the end of February, 2017 the bank determined winners by the majority of lots of both tenders. The remained lots were played at the beginning of March.

Within two tenders the greatest amount of contracts is recorded at Aplana company - about 620 million rubles. This company managed to win three lots on functional testing of systems. Further I-Teco - 592 million rubles, the amount of three lots follows. On the third place - Performance Lab - 383 million rubles, the amount of six lots.

Validity period of the general agreement on each lot makes 12 months from the date of its conclusion.

The general decrease on all purchases was more than 1.2 billion rubles. About 543 million rubles managed to be saved on tenders on stress testing and nearly 700 million rubles - at tenders on functional testing of systems.

For testing of information systems Sberbank held similar competitions in 2015. Then, the total initial amount was about 1.9 billion rubles.

Nearly a half of this amount was won then by Aplana company - she won eight lots for 940 million rubles. For the total amount of 520 million rubles won against I-Teco five lots. Four lots for 203 million rubles were won by Bell Integrator company. Luxoft won in two lots for 144 million rubles. Jet Infosystems won lot worth 89 million rubles.

Change of heads of the IT block: Nikita Volkov instead of Vadim Kulik

At the beginning of 2017 the Kommersant newspaper with reference to several sources reported[3]that the deputy chairman of board Vadim Kulik leaves Sberbank. According to the edition, it was discharged of coaching of the Risks direction. To it worthy tasks were not in the technology block for which Kulik was also responsible.

The Technologies block after Kulik's leaving is globally supervised by the first deputy chairman of board of Sberbank Lev Hasis. Instead of Kulik Nikita Volkov before directing development and maintenance of banking information systems in the Technologies block was appointed the head of the Technologies block.

Besides since February, 2017 the vice president of Sberbank Teymur Shternlib was appointed the senior vice president, the head of directorate for development of digital business. It replaced Mikhail Ehrenburg working in Sberbank since 2013.


Results of development of IT in 2016

In the reporting of Sberbank in 1 quarter 2017 it is told about the main results of development of information systems in 2016. The bank successfully executes strategic initiatives which purpose is creation of a technology platform and transformation in the technology company by the end of 2018, is told in the document.

In particular, Sberbank did a great job on ensuring high reliability of the systems. Among important milestones of this work there is an organization of georeservation of services of contact center, creation of a core of a new highly reliable local computer network, work of customer services at performing transactions in online stores, transfers, issuance of credits, service through remote links in the Stand-In mode 24 × 7 during incidents and technology works.

Idle times of critical automated systems of DPC Southern port do not exceed 1.6 hours a year. This DPC is certified according to the program Tier Certification Operational Sustainability, Uptime Institute, the GOLD level.

High-critical services of transportation of data between automated systems of Sberbank are transferred to the functioning mode 99.999%, i.e. idle time of a system makes no more than 5 minutes a year. It provides the continuity of providing the main services to private and corporate clients.

In the Sberbank Online system the pilot block for employees was selected, in which there is a testing of new versions "Sberbank Online" before large-scale replication that minimizes risks and reduces an implementation time.

In Sberbank end-to-end production process and resource planning are implemented thanks to what control of start and project implementation amplified, average project duration from 30 was reduced to 18 months. New implementation process of not project tasks allowed to reduce the term of their implementation by 1.9 times. The satisfaction of internal clients in the field of implementation of an IT component of projects grew by 3.8 times, implementations of not project tasks – three times.

In Sberbank agile-transformation which consists in transition to the agile development method, received the name Sbergile began. Sbergile-commands are provided with basic automation, process of iterative development of services is developed.

In Sberbank uniform management process to operating rooms and IT production, incidents and technology standards is created.

The number of function of maintenance of client transactions is reduced by 13%. The regional centers of maintenance of client operations in Khabarovsk and Voronezh are transformed. Maintenance of IT transactions is provided in all time zones.

Basis of the changing IT landscape of Sberbank should become the technology platform which will act Wednesday, of the ecosystem providing functioning of business and allowing participants to interact and create value. The technology platform will include infrastructure, data and means of their processing and the analysis, the application, a development tool, API, said in the reporting of bank.

Sberbank actively applies the latest technologies to creation of the innovation services and services. In particular, methods of work with Big Data are used in development universal a chat platform for messengers of Telegram the Messenger and Facebook. The pilot of a system of biometric identification on the basis of a retina for self-service devices is carried out.

At a project startup "Payment on biometrics in retail chain stores "Alphabet of taste" the closed testing for the staff of Sberbank on a fingerprint is held. The pilot on development of a mathematical model of management of collection and cash in devices of self-service of Sberbank which is urged to reduce idle time of devices is implemented and to save on optimization of the stored volumes of cash.

The Program of "Automation of risk management systems in financial markets" begun 4.5 years ago is successfully complete. Systems for control of limits of market and credit risks, establishment of limits on financial institutions are created. Control systems of market orientation and independent verification of the prices are implemented. The uniqueness of this IT program for Russia that still there was no positive experience of the solution of similar tasks, is considered in bank. As a result during creation risk infrastructure about 360 million rubles were saved.

Sberbank implemented an automated system of monitoring of credit requests for identification of fraudulent activity from corporate clients. A system processes in memory data bulks that allows to make checks in real time.

The bank automated an underwriting quality control system. The creation of tools of risk analysis planned until the end of 2017 will allow to improve quality of the loan portfolio and to provide maintenance of the high level of examination.

The pilot on deployment of the international card processing center was successfully complete. BPS-Sberbank of Republic of Belarus became the first client.

Sberbank introduced the system automating collecting of arrears at a stage of late collecting including using mobile application of the collector.

"The personal account of the investor" which gave them access to viewing a remaining balance on brokerage accounts, marginal indicators, the register of transactions, information on input / funds withdrawal, the movement of securities between customer accounts was created.

The database of Mobile bank SMS service is translated to a new high-performance resource for keeping of loading in 18 million entering SMS from clients in day.

The portal prototype for external partners of Sberbank is created, service with the open interface (API) is published and will deploy the management tool lifecycle of API for connection of partners Sberbank Messenger and also the publications API of corporate services and involvement of new partners.

The new processing channel of multimedia messages in contact center – Text chat is created that will cut down expenses on payment of telephone traffic and will reduce growth rates of load of operators.

Sberbank implemented at itself technology of "direct calculations" that allowed to register payments in the settlement system of Sberbank in real time. Thus, time of passing of payment between clients of Sberbank was reduced from 45 to 6 minutes.

The simplified diagram of consideration of appeals of corporate clients therefore up to 50% of financial claims decide in one day was entered, addresses on self-collection decide within an hour. The maximum time of consideration of appeals of corporate clients does not exceed two days.

The policy on quality management of data is created, the training program, unique for the Russian market, on work with data which the first there underwent 80 top managers of Sberbank is developed.

In Sberbank new business – monetization of data appeared. The basic product portfolio of Sberbank on the basis of aggregated data is built. The first bargains with external clients on products on creation of model of tendency to purchase and segmentation of the customer base for targeted campaigns are concluded.

The Open Data portal – a unique information product on the basis of Big Data technologies which provides aggregated data to economic activity of the population and business is started.

In Sberbank innovation laboratories which have an average term of development of a prototype of the innovation product no more than five months at the moment are created.

As key development plans for a technology landscape Sberbank planned implementation of all basic technology services of the IT platform and business services for private clients for 2017, development of an ecosystem of technology partnership of Open API, implementation of algorithms of artificial intelligence and machine learning for tasks of Sberbank, connection not less than two businesses of an ecosystem.

Government experiment: what state services for business are prepared by Sberbank

Sberbank develops the whole range of services for business in the context of cooperation with the state, told TAdviser in bank in December, 2016. According to bank representatives, within "the government experiment" Sberbank works on technology of remote registration of the enterprises, remote opening of the bank account and to connection of bank client.

It will allow to register in 2017 the companies, to open the account and to connect bank client without arrival to tax and bank, I use the cloud electronic digital signature and bank identification. This technology will allow to save to business not less than one million hours a year, - told TAdviser in Sberbank.

The second direction is connected with an exception of a request of documents at the client which state agencies have in electronic form, regarding credit process of legal persons and SP.

The specified innovations will promote reduction of number of the documents requested from the client and, as a result, will allow to reduce dates of receipt of borrowing facilities and will reduce the level of a loan interest rate and also will lower operating costs of clients on visit of departments, - bank representatives explain.

In Sberbank gave TAdviser as an example receiving from FTS and Rosstat of tax data, statements from the state register of the rights to real estate and transactions with it from Rosreestr, etc.

Since January, 2017 the new credit program of the Ministry of Agriculture will earn. Instead of a difficult procedure of subsidizing, producers of agricultural products will be able to obtain soft loans in participating banks of the program under 5% per annum at once, added in Sberbank.

Earlier the first Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Igor Shuvalov who supports this idea spoke about a possibility of rendering state services for business based on Sberbank. In more detail about it is in the block below.

Sberbank can become provider of electronic state services

The government considers Sberbank as the possible platform for rendering state services. It follows from a speech of the first Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Igor Shuvalov at a congress of Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RUIE) on December 19, 2016[4].

We try to experiment with Sberbank, we will create new platforms in order that they were convenient for a small and medium entrepreneurship, but also for a large entrepreneurship too. We pass to judgment of the fact that, maybe, through the platform of Sberbank to get and execute certain public services, – Shuvalov told during the performance.

The Deputy Prime Minister noted that in power yet not all are ready to the idea of an output of a part of state services for perimeter of state agencies.

For us it is not absolutely usual formats, especially so far for those who are connected with control and supervising activity in the government. And for them when these functions go to an electronic form through electronic platforms, it is a format rather new, – he said.

Shuvalov reminded that now the president's team of Sberbank of German Gref works on transformation of bank in an ecosystem. The supervisory board of Sberbank approved the plan for creation of a financial ecosystem in November. It including provides implementation of the concept of the open code and embedding in the platform of Sberbank of different partners. As Gref spoke, creation of the platform should be complete by the end of 2018, and the final decision on creation of an ecosystem will be made during the adoption of strategy of bank for 2019-2023.

The most part of what will be created within an ecosystem will have a direct bearing on entrepreneurs, Shuvalov noted during the performance at a congress of RUIE[5].

Earlier, at the beginning of December, the president of Sberbank German Gref noted that the bank works on creation of digital business, and comes for interaction with[6] more and more]. Sberbank can create "joinings between the state and services of bank" both on federal, and on regional levels, Gref explained. Then he spoke about support of this initiative by Shuvalov.

In November Sberbank provided one of the first services created together with the state (with Rosreestr), - electronic registration of the real estate purchased in a mortgage. Creation of similar services can lead to reduction of tens and tens of thousands of officials, Gref said.

Sberbank began hunting for specialists in a blockchain and Big Data

Sberbank needs the qualified IT specialists, the head of bank German Gref reported at the beginning of December, 2016 during "direct line" with employees, reports the Prime agency.[7] For them in bank there are possibilities of the serious wages rise.

Gref noted that the bank needs, in particular, specialists in the field of Big Data and also a developer blockchain. According to him, pros in these directions will have high value in bank, and, unlike other employees whose salary is regulated and is limited to the market, to these specialists the bank is ready to raise significantly salaries in process of accumulation of their competences.

Let's say those who are engaged in the analysis of Big Data. And there the skill level, of course, has very serious value for the work pay level. And there is, of course, also an opportunity to increase the competence, and, respectively, very seriously grow on the work pay level, – Gref reported.

Also it concerns specialists in the field of a blockchain. In bank the laboratory on a research of this technology, laboratory on artificial intelligence, etc. is created.

All these expert branches, of course, will be paid absolutely differently in process of promotion in the professional competence of those people who work there, – Gref told.

German Gref mentioned more than once that he considers blockchain technology very perspective therefore the bank is ready to invest in their development.

For the last year Sberbank showed big interest blockchain technology. Since fall of 2015 he actively undertook its studying, and at the end of September, 2016 announced the first international transaction through the new platform on its basis. The bank was included already into several consortia, engaged in development of this technology: in particular, in September, 2016 joined Hyperledger into which the largest players of world financial market and the leading IT companies enter (London Stock Exchange, SWIFT, Moscow Exchange, IBM, Cisco, Intel, etc.).

In the fall of 2016 Sberbank participated in the first transactions between banks (tested a MasterChain – a prototype a blockchain service for data exchange about clients) and also together with FAS Russia started a pilot project of Digital Ecosystem on exchange of documents on the basis of blockchain technology.

As for Big Data development, at the beginning of 2016 Sberbank invested in the developer specializing in it is GridGain Systems company (GridGain). Gref characterized it as the company, "who won the tender against Oracle, IBM and others, it appeared 10 times more these largest companies" (in more detail - in the separate article).

Besides, in November, 2016 Sberbank started the Open Data project based on Big Data technologies [1] (in more detail).

TAdviser SummIT: Sberbank told about revolutionary transformation of IT systems

Agile-transformation start

In March, 2016 Sberbank selected McKinsey the consultant for the principles bimodal and Agile software development-организации. The company will provide trainings and will prepare the description of possible organizational models, approaches to transformation of management model and structure of bank (is more detailed here).


The main results of informatization in 2015

In the reporting of Sberbank published in May, 2016 it is announced the main results of informatization of bank in 2015.

The bank worked on simplification of an IT landscape, reduction of terms of an output to the market of banking products, reliability assurance and the necessary performance of systems, optimization of project activity of bank. Were added to these tasks: ensuring quality of the implemented programs; IT maintenance reduction in cost; development of the platform of support of business development for ensuring strategic advantage of group in the market of banking services.

The key systems in 2015 worked at constantly growing loading – transaction loading in the systems of bank grew approximately by 1.5-2 times in comparison with previous year that is connected with development of functionality of systems and growth of the customer base. At the same time the purposes on reliability of systems are executed at the expense of the 99.99 program in which reservation is implemented and the emphasis at pro-active work with operational risks is put.

Sberbank managed to provide at least a semi-annual stock on performance of the critical systems that allowed without significant failures to sustain traditional peak load at the end of 2015.

Still high level of DDoS attacks on resources of bank remains. The attacks become more intellectual, their power grows. Thanks to measures of the 99.99 program in 2015 any of the attacks did not achieve the goal; for comparison – in 2014 as a result of DDoS attacks providing customer service in full lasting about an hour was broken. In bank own center for counteraction the Internet to the attacks works.

For the purpose of achievement of technology break as main basis of strategy implementation of development of bank till 2018 at the end of 2015 the Technologies block based on the IT block and the Operational block was created.

In 2015 the unprecedented program of centralization of IT systems on scope "Centralization 2.0" which was implemented four years by a team of 32 thousand people was complete. As a result 15 thousand systems of territorial banks are consolidated, databases are centralized. One of the world's largest the centralized IT platform is created. Due to creation of a common information space terms of an output to the market of new banking products for clients are reduced.

Within the Reliability 99.99 program more than on 60% of systems cumulative idle time made no more than 52 minutes a year. The mode of duplication at which customer service continues in the mode of limited functionality at failure or carrying out technology works that allowed to avoid idle times of the general lasting more than 275 hours in a year works.

In 2015 work on the "Creation of the Platform of Support of Business Development (18+)" program with involvement of world experts in the field of architectural questions was begun. The purpose – to provide strategic advantage of group in the market of banking services, having created the platform which will meet requirements of business on the horizon of 2018-2023, to reduce terms of an output to the market of new products, to reduce the cost of ownership of IT - infrastructure, to increase efficiency of a back office.

Within the Centralization 3.0 program 118 inappropriate systems and one DPC, in plans – an output of 410 more inappropriate systems and replacement of the IT equipment for receiving economy of the estimate are taken out of service. The purpose – to complete centralization of a landscape, significantly having increased cost efficiency of IT assets.

The stage of transformation of an organization structure of divisions of IT maintenance within the Everest program is completed. End-to-end chains of command and supports of services are created. The effect of the held events was 650 million rubles. Personnel management of Sberbank is conducted in a single system of SAP HR. It is the world's largest project on SAP implementation of HR which covers all employees of the bank working in 11 time zones in 82 subjects of the country. 89 separate historical systems are taken out of service.

For employees of all regions the possibility of planning of 100% of operating expenses in a single centralized system with significant acceleration of execution of operations is provided.

The complete relevant reference base of clients of Sberbank on all segments of retail business due to connection of the systems of territorial banks to the system of a uniform profile of the client online is created.

SMS informing clients on the status of release and delivery of cards is started. The client can receive the card in any region of presence of Sberbank regardless of the place of maintaining its account now.

Payment of the state and municipal payments for benefit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Federal Bailiff Service, Rosreestr in real time in all territory of the country is unified.

For the purpose of operational identification of the persons involved involved in terrorism and extremism, counteractions to illegal financial transactions, within performance of Federal laws No. 115-FZ, to No. 134-FZ and No. 152-FZ interaction the EXPERT the STOP-LIST with bank AS is transferred to a real-time mode. It will allow to identify quickly unreliable clients at commission of transfers to accounts of deposits and bank cards by them and to stop financing of terrorism and legalization (washing) of income gained in the criminal way.

The industrial system of the class fraud-monitoring for channels remote bank to services for individuals is implemented. A system reduces risk of plunder of money of clients and reduces the reputation losses of bank resulting from carrying out fraudulent transactions.

The solution reducing the term of an output to the market of the interest rate realignments on deposits that accelerates reaction of bank to change of economic conditions is implemented.

Interaction from SWIFT which will allow to exchange SWIFT documents with other banks at disconnection of Sberbank from SWIFT Alliance Access is finished.

The technology of issue of the housing credits issued through Credit Factory allowing to change the selected product at any stage before issuance of credit is implemented. Clients submit applications for the housing credits in any VSP without participation of the mortgage manager, at the same time at change by the client of a type of a real estate or type of the transaction there is no need to get approval of bank repeatedly. The number of the clients who refused the transaction will be reduced.

The automated process of assessment of credit history in Credit Pipeline and Credit Factory technologies for client segments "Micro Business" and "Small business" is implemented.

In 6 thousand Sberbank branches through the whole country the Wi-fi network for employees and clients is organized. More than 10 thousand employees of these departments use corporate tablets for customer service and connection by it of products and services of bank.

The new version of a corporate portal integrated all territorial banks on one platform – up to this point there were 15 separate portals.

The technological solution on electronic document management with state bodies which allows employees of the bank to check the fact of issue of the notarial power of attorney via the corporate business portal is implemented.

In MEGADPC of Sberbank the data processing center for SberbankEurope is created. It is the first project in Russia on IT support of European Banks which saved to subsidiary banks about 50 million euros for costs of maintenance of IT.

In subsidiary banks of Belarus, Ukraine and Kazakhstan the solution of the Humming-bird online is implemented that will reduce time of a design of international transfers by 40%.

Sale of products of welfare through Sberbank Online is started. The possibility of acquisition of products of insurance companies of group on the Internet is implemented.

Emphasis on high-quality study of projects regarding IT infrastructure is put. It allowed to satisfy completely projects with IT resources, at the same time having lowered original requirements on resources by 11 billion rubles.

Intermediate results of the Reliability program

The Reliability of Critical AS program of Sberbank was started in 2013. Its purpose is increase in level of availability of the critical systems to 99.99% that means no more than one hour of idle time of each of them a year. The program is strategic and has the first priority in Sberbank. More than 1 thousand employees of the bank are involved in its implementation.

For the end of 2015 Sberbank increased the level of availability of a number of the critical systems to the level of 99.99%, the senior vice president of bank Nikita Volkov in December told. Prior to the beginning of reliability augmentation program implementation as Volkov told TAdviser, each of the critical systems stood idle on average in 7-8 hours a year, including both technology idle times, and incidents. On those systems where the target indicator in 99.99% is not reached yet, a downtime was also reduced from the moment of the beginning of the program.

Sberbank explained TAdviser that the level of availability of systems of 99.99% is reached for the realization account of the StandIn mode – one more circuit of protection of customer services in addition to traditional reservation in the second DPC. StandIn is applied on renewal period of operability of a system in the main or reserve DPC. In this mode only the services, most crucial for clients, are provided and AS works in the mode of limited functionality.

In 2014 the works on implementation of StandIn were completed on such AS of Sberbank as the integration layer connecting all the critical systems of bank, mobile bank according to cards, the retail Internet bank, the part of a processing system which is responsible for service of the cards emitted by Sberbank. On each of these systems interruption of customer services since the beginning of 2015 made less than one hour.

In 2015 works on implementation of the Stand In mode were carried out in the eTsOD systems and Sberbank Branch which are responsible for performing transactions on deposits. Sberbank expects that it will feel effect of implementation of these works in 2016. The same year Sberbank is going to complete implementation of the StandIn mode in all the critical systems.

The greatest total interrupt time of customer services in 2015 is recorded by assorted EKS (A single corporate system) which basic functions are settlement and cash services and payments of corporate clients (11.5 hours since the beginning of year), reported TAdviser in Sberbank. The maximum delay time of client payments made 2 hours 18 minutes at an incident at the beginning of February, 2015. In general, all the time of unavailability of customer services in EKS was the share of the first half of 2015. In the second half of the year work of AS of EKS is completely stabilized, speak in Sberbank.

As the most frequent reasons of idle time of the critical systems Nikita Volkov called TAdviser of a problem with the application software (the mistakes made when programming, but not revealed in testing) and also failures in databases.

Volkov notes that Sberbank always very carefully tests the systems before start in operation: regression, functional, stress testing and acceptance tests is held. When a system turns into commercial operation, it begins to interact with all landscape of systems: "Banking systems now very difficult also arise joints".

"Any application software shows errors all the time, since software for the smartphone and finishing with complex systems. Failures were, is and will be, it is inevitable. Errors arise both in processing, and in core banking, practically in any systems. The question is in that, the client notices them or not, and how fast we can get out of the situation", - Nikita Volkov noted.

Emergence of failures in systems in Sberbank is explained also with the fact that some systems are unique and have no analogs in the world. For example, such configuration of processing as at Sberbank at anybody is not present any more, Volkov notes: "It is the whole consortium Oracle and IBM, a configuration which to us nobody in the world used".

He added that in many cases clients do not notice that an incident occurred, but the bank anyway fixes them.

"Bonuses" for failures for clients

Sberbank considers the possibility of introduction of compensations for the clients feeling discomfort because of failures in systems, Nikita Volkov in December, 2015 told. According to him, the bank works on this idea and, perhaps, will develop the system of compensation processes in 2016.

The bank has yet no preliminary list of options of compensation and cases in which clients will receive them, Volkov notes. As an example for a situation in which compensation could be applied it gave a situation with the dubbed account transactions of the client when money is charged off two times. However, such problem usually arises on the party of payment system, Nikita Volkov added, having noted that he would not like to outline situations on examples of the systems of Sberbank so far.

Volkov so far could not give specific examples of "bonuses" for failures too, but told that he likes "encouragement" which one of German banks entered for the clients during the FIFA World Cup. The bank announced a special deposit when the deposit interest rate increases on percent shares depending on number of the goals scored by the German command.

To clients for inconveniences because of Sberbank bank borrowed the idea of compensations from world practice. The senior vice president of Sberbank for IT noted that it is not really widespread, but it carries it to discharge of best practices of banks.

The choice of contractors on testing of information systems in 2015 - 2016.

On October 30, 2015 Sberbank defined winners of two tenders (20 lots) on services of functional and stress testing of the automated systems (AS). Their total initial amount was about 1.9 billion rubles.

Nearly a half of this amount was won by Aplana company - she won eight lots for 940 million rubles. Aplana will be engaged in stress testing of a management system for analytical solutions and management systems for the credits and also functional testing of the core systems, processing and the corporate service bus, CRM, risk management systems, intraeconomic activity and personnel, the systems of customer service in remote links.

I-Teco won five lots for the total amount of 520 million rubles. The company will be engaged in stress testing BPM, CRM and RBS (front end) and also functional testing credit and front end of systems.

Four lots for 203 million rubles were won by Bell Integrator company (Bell Integrator, BIG Group). It will test on loading applications for remote banking and a management system for processing. Functionally the company will test BI and the system of government of investments.

Luxoft won in two lots for 144 million rubles. The company will hold stress testing of risk management system and investments and also functional testing of BPM.

Jet Infosystems won lot for 89 million rubles and will be engaged in stress testing of the core systems of Sberbank.

Competitions at the choice of suppliers for testing of the automated systems which are used in Sberbank were announced in June, 2015. Within contracts on the first[9] from them with the maximum price of 1.29 billion rubles was supposed functional testing of systems by 11 functional areas. Within the second[10] of the maximum price contract in 605 million rubles was planned carrying out stress testing of systems by 9 functional areas.

In total lots on both tenders include more than 100 systems which need to be tested. Validity period of the general agreement on each lot – 12 months.

On execution of works are specified as the purposes of functional testing of systems in terms of reference: reduction of a share of functional errors in commercial operation, check of AS by compliance to the stated functional requirements, confirmation of preserving of functionality of AS after upgrade and also identification of the maximum share of functional errors on earlier test stages.

Stress testing is held for the purpose of reliability augmentation of systems, determinations of maximum capacity of a system, reduction of probability of emergence of the errors connected with performance in commercial operation and also check of fault tolerance.

Sberbank said TAdviser that these tenders are not connected with the beginning of large-scale works on testing in their bank. Testing of critical (class Mission Critical and Business Critical) and less critical systems (class Business Operation and Office Productivity) takes place in the planned mode according to project deadlines by forces "Sberbank-Technologies" or with involvement of external suppliers. The volumes designated in competitive documentation are indicative and Sberbank reserves the right not to place supplier orders on all designated volume in the specified period.

Bank representatives added that, meanwhile, approach to holding procurement procedures of works and services of testing changed: "Aggregation of volumes and carrying out two tenders on all requirement of bank is connected with transition from a tactical format of carrying out tenders to strategic, with the conclusion of long-term agreements and we build partnership with suppliers".

In addition to the won companies Auriga,S&T,Performance Lab,Cinimex,Epam,Technoserv and "Technologies of quality" took part in tenders for testing.

IT systems of Sberbank are centralized

Migration on PostgreSQL

In September, 2015 the chief architect of IT of Sberbank told TAdviser that its bank very attentively considers a question of use of the open source (OS), including - transfer of a number of systems to PostgreSQL DBMS.

In November, 2015 in Sberbank told TAdviser that the bank conducts PostgreSQL testing to study its opportunities for optimal positioning in the infrastructure.

2014: Start of strategy implementation of technology development till 2018

In 2014 the Bank started implementation of new Strategy of technology development till 2018.

In the reporting of bank as the main focuses of conversions were selected:

  • simplification of an IT landscape;

  • reduction of terms of an output to the market of banking products, completion of works on transfer of 16 territorial banks on centralized systems;

  • ensuring reliability of automated systems and business of a stock of their performance, necessary for growth;

  • optimization of project activity, increase in productivity of projects with an IT component, cardinal improvement of quality of project management.

Within the strategic program "Creation of the Single Centralized IT Platform of Bank" in the Moscow, Central Chernozem and Northern banks in commercial operation the automated system on service of legal entities was implemented.

"It is an important milestone on the way of creation of the effective centralized bank platform which will allow to optimize the cost of ownership of an IT landscape of bank and to increase the speed of implementation of new products and services", - it was said in the reporting of bank.

The Moscow, Central Russian, North Caucasian and Central Chernozem banks were transferred to an automated system of crediting of individuals.

Seven territorial banks were transferred to the "Uniform Center of Processing of Deposits" system. Within service "Zelyonaya Street" clients could make operations on deposits irrespective of a point of opening of a deposit in any territorial bank and also in both territories of the Moscow and Central Russian banks.

Within the program of centralization cost reduction on IT due to economy of equipment costs (servers and storage systems) and on premises of data centers in territorial banks, savings of benefits from implementations of AS and the system application software, development of systems by forces of employees "Sberbank – Technologies", development and support of direct systems – more than 2.5 billion rubles was reached.

Sberbank opened the new strategic program "Creation of the Platform of Support of Business Development (18+)" within which the innovative technologies will increase performance, to reduce total cost of ownership group IT infrastructure, to reduce the term of start of new products.

In 2014 both Sberbank, and group actively worked in these directions, despite influence of the changed external circumstances and some other difficulties, said in the reporting of bank:

  • In 2014 Sberbank did a great job regarding reliability augmentation of automated systems. In comparison with 2013 for 20% idle times of the critical systems are reduced because of incidents, breaks of the critical systems are more than twice reduced because of carrying out technology works, it is provided necessary for growth of business reserved productivities of systems.

  • The key systems worked in the conditions of constantly increasing loading. So, for 2014 the number of transactions in Sberbank Onl@yn increased by 2.5 times that is connected also with development of functionality of systems, and with increase in the customer base. In the conditions of the raised loading the Bank executed the purposes on reliability augmentation of systems thanks to the Reliability 99.99 program: special technologies of reservation and optimization are implemented, focus at pro-active work of IT services with operational risks is made.

  • In the middle of December there was a sharp growth of load of all systems of Bank in connection with an unstable financial situation and an information attack to Sberbank. All systems fulfilled steadily.

  • Significantly the frequency and power of DDoS attacks increased by Internet services of bank (in 2014 42 such attacks are recorded). Thanks to measures within the Reliability 99.99 program of the attack had no significant impact on customer services. Margin of safety of a system of Sberbank many times exceeds the current capacities of the DDoS attacks recorded on the Russian Internet.

In 2014, according to the reporting, the huge step was taken in improvement of services Sberbank Onl@yn and Mobile bank for different platforms, possibilities of self-service terminals are expanded.

The bank started the application for social networks "Odnoklassniki" and "Vkontakte" in which clients can do money transfers from the card on Sberbank Card by the phone number, pay mobile communication, without connecting from a personal account to the web.

In reporting year works on the organization and maintenance of payment infrastructure at the Olympic Games in Sochi are carried out.

The CRM platform, largest in Europe, by quantity of products and users is created.

The automated control system for personnel in 11 territorial banks is brought into commercial operation. Thereby the most large-scale implementation of a centralized system in Russia on the SAP platform is complete.

Vadim Kulik replaces Victor Orlovsky as the curator of the IT block

At the beginning of 2013 in Sberbank the curator of the IT block was replaced. Instead of Victor Orlovsky the head of the Risks block Vadim Kulik became him. At the same time Orlovsky did not leave bank, and saved a post of the senior vice president and as the president of bank German Gref spoke,[11] had to "focus on innovations"[11].

The major result on the IT direction in 2013 the bank called the adoption of strategy of technology development of Sberbank till 2018:

"The mission of IT services for new strategy consists in support of bank as the effective and reliable supplier of traditional banking services and the leader in implementation of the innovation products. The basic principles of new IT strategy are industrial approach to production of IT services, creation of factory of the development and operation of IT services providing the most effective and transparent use of investments into development and support of technologies".

The principles of strategy also included the maximum simplification of an IT landscape, the maximum concentration of financial and human resources for the solution of the most priority tasks for bank, attraction, deduction and development of key IT specialists, it was told in the report of Sberbank.

The program aimed at secured provision of required level of reliability of all key automated systems was open for ensuring reliability of work of automated systems in the conditions of dynamic business development and growth of volumes of transactions in Sberbank. In its framework the reengineering of architecture of IT systems allowing to increase cardinally their scalability was conducted.

Within the program of standardization and integration of IT infrastructure of subsidiary banks the direct automated banking system was selected and uniform standards of target IT architecture Sberbank Europe are defined.

In the report it was also said that for the purpose of increase in investment soundness in IT agreements with key suppliers of IT solutions were reached upon reduction in cost of the equipment and transition to new model of interaction with bank – to direct deliveries of the equipment. Cumulative effect of these actions in the 4th quarter 2013 was economy more than 5 billion rubles.

Among other key results on the direction of informatization gave the beginning of acceptance of the Visa payWave proximity cards allowing clients to pay purchases in seconds in Sberbank: for this purpose it is necessary to bring the card to the terminal equipped with technology of acceptance of contactless payments.

Together with VSK Insurance House, SCCP and Visa companies in 2013 the pilot project on mobile POS acquiring within which insurance agents of SOAO "VSK" in Moscow and the Moscow region had an opportunity to accept payments of clients on bank cards was started, using the smartphone or the tablet.

Besides, since 2013 mobile application "Sberbank Onl@yn" for smartphones became available on three leading mobile platforms:iOS,Android and Windows Phone. Also the list of the online stores supporting payment of purchases using Sberbank Onl@yn Internet bank was expanded.

Strategic partnership with IBM

At the end of October, 2013 the Sberbank of Russia and IBM concluded the memorandum of strategic cooperation which is directed to optimization of supplies of equipment and the software and also search of possible ways of upgrade of IT infrastructure of bank. According to the reached agreements the IBM company made the decision to change an interaction format with Sberbank in 2013 that will allow to pass to direct deliveries of the equipment and the software (S).

In addition to significant optimization of prices for products of IBM, the signed memorandum transfers the relations between two companies to essentially new level. Within the signed agreement IBM intends to authorize the Sberbank-Service company which is subsidiary company of Sberbank on deliveries of a broad spectrum hardware and the software of IBM. Upon termination of authorization process Sberbank will be able to increase considerably efficiency of purchases of products of IBM, performing them through Sberbank-Service directly at logistic partners of IBM.

According to the memorandum, Sberbank also has an opportunity of use of the latest technologies of IBM, and specialists of both companies will participate jointly in the program of upgrade of IT infrastructure of bank.


Bank, according to the reporting:

  • Included in the system of Internet banking new service - personal financial planning, the customer loyalty and to increase sales of banking products allowing to raise.

  • Integrated the channels of remote service with the system of Aeroflot, "what allowed to provide to clients of bank a convenient service on acquisition of air tickets".

  • Implemented a money transfer service via own information payment terminals for repayment of the credits received in other banks.

  • Implemented the self-training system a fraud monitoring controlling financial transactions and authorizations in real time.

  • SMS acquiring became one more new product of bank. It is a payment system which allows sellers to receive payment for the services through SMS messages without presentation by the client of the bank card. "This service is especially popular by the companies of small business as it does not require acquisition of terminal equipment", - consider in Sberbank.

The centralized purchase of components of IT infrastructure considerably cut down expenses of bank, it was told in the reporting: "In territorial banks expenses on services of operators of the international and domestic long distance communication and on 50% are cut down for 36% the cost of purchase of personal computers in regions is reduced".

The data processing center (MEGADPC) of Sberbank received certification of the international organization of Uptime Institute on the level of reliability Tier III meaning high rates of fault tolerance of engineering infrastructure (coefficient of fault tolerance of 99.98%).

At the beginning of November, 2011 the bank started the first stage of the megadPC in Moscow. Agreement with SAP on implementation of ERP

In September, 2011 Sberbank signed the agreement with SAP on delivery of licenses within the ERP system implementation project. Its amount, according to CNews, was about $36 million. "Conclusion of an agreement will allow Sberbank to implement more effectively plans for large-scale implementation of the ERP system", - said in Sberbank.

In October, 2011 the bank together with three Internet companies - "Профессионалы.ру", Wikivote and Witology - implemented the large-scale crowdsourcing project. Target architecture of DPCs till 2020

The concept of Sberbank provides that in 2019-2020 it in total should have three own DPCs, the senior vice president of bank for IT Nikita Volkov told, answering questions of TAdviser during the press briefing in December, 2015.

According to Volkov, at the moment at Sberbank the bigger number of the DPCs located in different regions of the country is considerable. They were under construction according to the old concept of Sberbank assuming creation of data centers at each of its 16 territorial banks. On these platforms banking systems were locally installed.

In 2011 Sberbank started the Centralization 2.0 program for transfer of all the territorial banks on the uniform IT platform. For its implementation in Moscow the new large data center –megadPC Southern port where now all crucial systems of Sberbank are based was created.

Volkov says that a part of the local noncritical systems for service of transactions in territorial DPCs still remained. In plans of Sberbank – to centralize also these systems and to leave some of data centers which will be used only for telecommunication tasks.

Task of Sberbank on the near future – to construct the second megadPC in Skolkovo, Nikita Volkov tells. Earlier TAdviser wrote that in December the bank began search of the general contractor for his creation. Sberbank is ready to pay about 13 billion rubles for a project work.

After that Sberbank is going to build the third large strategic DPC. Volkov told TAdviser that it will be located at distance more than 1 thousand km from Moscow, presumably - in the Urals. According to him, preliminary works on this project already began. This DPC will perform function of the reserve platform.

While Sberbank has no own reserve DPCs, it rents three reserve DPCs in Moscow. At once of three DPCs Nikita Volkov explains need of lease with the fact that Sberbank did not find uniform reserve data center of level of megadPC Southern port.
