2015: $22 billion - the profit of Google on Android in 7 years

For the first seven years of existence, the Android operating system brought to the Google corporation which released it income in the amount of $31 billion and $22 billion profit. Such digits in court were provided by the lawyer of Oracle at the beginning of 2016. This corporation has legal proceedings with Google at this time, accusing her of copyright violation on the Java language^[1].

The specified amounts were calculated based on the values received by Oracle from confidential finance documents of Google. The Google corporation itself never disclosed these values and, having learned that the lawyer of Oracle voiced them publicly, demanded from court to enter prohibitive measures concerning this information. The corporation explained that the opened data are for it of huge importance and were intended "only for the lawyer's eyes".

Oracle aimed to show that Google in a hurry used the Java language as soon as possible to profit by a new initiative. The corporation insists that the search giant should pay it compensation proportional to the profit got from Android. "Here the huge commercial benefit is available" — the lawyer of Oracle Annette Hurst said.

Advertizing — one of two ways of profit earning with Android. The second is a sale of applications through Google Play. The corporation receives 30% from sale of each third-party application and only 70% give to developers. It is the standard circuit of work which operates in all other similar shops, including App Store at Apple. From here also follows that the more Android devices, the it is more profitable than Google.

2010: Income of $132.1 million for the first 5 months

In 2010 for the first 5 months - till May income from Android was $132.1 million, including $26.8 million from advertizing and $1.6 million from sale of applications. The company earned $103.7 million more from the Nexus One smartphones which sales in January of the same year it started independently.

2009: $16.8 million - revenue of Google from Android for the first year

For 2009, i.e. for the first complete year of presence of Android in the market, revenue of Google from the platform reached $16.8 million, from them: $15.7 million from advertizing which Google placed in applications, and $1.1 million from sale of applications.
