The world market of SOA according to IBM Market Analysis, 2007
Distribution of SOA solutions in "Gartner square" on given for the beginning of 2008

In 2007 the companies spent for SOA - on software and on services - 1.4 million dollars, according to AMR Research poll. Chief information officers from the USA, Germany and China participated in a research: the market of SOA grows in these countries most quickly - more than for 100% a year. In total 405 companies representing large business (i.e. with staff from 500 to 10,000) - production, trade, distribution, a telecom and the financial sector were covered. Impulsive causes for investments into SOA projects respondents called an opportunity to implement new IT quicker, cheaper and with smaller risks (22%), an opportunity to implement individual projects (18%) and also expense reduction on IT (17%). 16% hope to be prepared thus by a new technology era, and another 14% want to upgrade the architecture. 45% of the companies which already began transition to the service-oriented architecture spent in 2007 for SOA more than 500 thousand dollars. Their quantity doubled for 2007. 59% of retailers already applied SOA at least in one project - as well as 58% of distributors, 54% of telecom operators or 42% of banks. In general the financial sector most of all spends today for SOA - 63% of respondents indicated that they spent more than 1 million dollars, thus that from retailers could invest the similar amounts of only 30%.

Despite already appeared negative emotions, SOA continue to promise the big future. In particular, by 2010 wait for integration of SOA platforms into more than 60% of the enterprises from the rating of Global 3000. At the same time IT projects for 80% will consist by this time of work with SOA, consider in Gartner. Development of SOA platforms, probably, will happen against the background of prosperity of Web 2.0, on the one hand, and increasing efforts of the consulting companies, to another further. To strengthen the positions in the market, the large companies will probably save consolidation strategy and will buy small firms which applications they allow to expand basic functionality of SOA. So, fall of 2008 of Oracle purchased ClearApp specializing in solutions for management of compound applications which will be included in a product family of Oracle Enterprise Manager now.

According to Gartner, today SOA — one of the leading directions in the field of infrastructure of development, deployment and support of applications of an enterprise scale. Gartner selects two main options of use of SOA: the solution of private integration projects and systematic implementation in a framework of the enterprise in general. In the latter case support of SOA requires the multifunction infrastructure of applications often created in the form of a combination of technologies of different vendors. However implementation of SOA is possible here only on condition that in the organization IT strategy is developed, and the IT service executes a role of the customer and designer of IT infrastructure and also the system integrator.

In a magic quadrant (2010) of Gartner provided 23 IT companies which includes both the leading world IT suppliers, and specialized software developers. But the leading three of suppliers of SOA solutions are IBM, Microsoft and Oracle.
