2017: The market of "smart" lighting made $4.6 billion

In 2017 the volume of the world market of "smart" lighting in money grew by 95% and was $4.6 billion. By 2020 almost triple increase in revenue and turnover in the amount of $13.4 billion is expected. The division of analytical company TrendForce, published on March 20, 2018 is reported in the report of LEDinside, research.

"Smart lighting" provides power saving, convenience and simplicity of management. In addition market development stimulates implementation of technologies of Internet of Things.

The size of the market of "smart" lighting in 2017 was estimated at $4.6 billion

The largest scope of "smart" lighting analysts call industrial and commercial use. By LEDinside estimates, in 2017 the market share of this segment made 60%. On the second place — the systems of "smart" lighting for premises which contribution is estimated at 23%. Also analysts will manufacture "smart" lighting for streets and public places (market shares of 11% and 6%).

According to specialists, construction of infrastructure in public places remains the main driver of growth of the market of "smart" lighting. In this category the prevailing direction is development of "the smart cities". Thanks to government support of such programs worldwide projects in the field of "the smart cities" are multiplied, so, development of systems of "smart" lighting for the public sector will be given further priority.

LEDinside notes that producers of the systems of "smart" lighting use different strategy and turn out products as for mass market, and more high quality solutions with a bigger margin. Among the leading brands analysts listed the companies Philips Lighting Osram, Cree General Electric (GE), to Ledvance, LIFX and Acuity Brand. Besides, several Chinese companies, such as Opple Lighting, Feilo Acoustics and Unilumin Group are mentioned.[1]
