The amount of the world market of the software for management of the cloud systems and services in 2018 reached record $5.6 billion, having increased by 33.2% concerning the 2017th. These growth rates almost for 80% exceed positive dynamics of 2017. Data of analysts of IDC demonstrate to it.

They consider sales of solutions for management of cloud infrastructure and applications and cover public, private, hybrid and multicloud computing architectures, including virtual machines and container environments.

Segments of the market of software for management of cloud environments, data of IDC

The most part of the considered market (about 44.6%) is the share of SaaS and solutions for management of IT infrastructure (IT Operations Management, ITOM). They help to automate the processes connected with providing infrastructure, distribution of capacities, performance management and routine maintenance of all elements of IT infrastructure.

The second place on distribution is taken by software intended for setup and automation of work of cloud services. One more category in the market are programs for management of cloud services which:

  • Implement functionality for the order of services;
  • Manage lifecycle of service;
  • Provides an order of reservation and aktivation of services.

The countries of North and South America (mainly the USA) of which 65.2% of sales in 2018 were the share remain the largest sales market of software for management of the cloud systems and services. Shares of other regions are given below. Leadership of America is caused by presence of a large number of the large companies and placement of public clouds there.

Expense allocation on software for management of cloud environments depending on regions, data of IDC

VMware of which 20.9% of revenue in the market at the end of 2018 were the share remains the largest software maker for management of clouds. Afterwards Microsoft and IBM with indicators of 14% and 8.3% were located.

Many leading vendors, including VMware, AWS, Microsoft, IBM and Cisco, in 2018 offered new options of management of the clouds optimized for work with multicloud computing and hybrid computing architectures.

Besides, year was marked by a number of large acquisitions and the remaining expansion of products from suppliers of public clouds. Among significant transactions it is possible to note merge of Flexera and RightScale and also sale of CloudHealth of VMware company.

The analyst of IDC Mary Johnston Turner says that growth of the market is fueled by implementation in the companies of big multicloud computing and hybrid computing architectures which include containers and infrastructure on the basis of containers. Besides, increase in complexity and value of such environments therefore more advanced and competitive means for monitoring, the analysis and automation are required affect, she added.

Market leaders of software for management of cloud environments depending on regions, data of IDC

According to experts, in the conditions of market development of software for management of the cloud systems and services importance of own managing services from suppliers of hyper scalable clouds grows. Many corporate clients want to involve such solutions within the concept which is distinguished by modularity and abilities to integrate through API to provide managements of cloud applicaions of infrastructure.

As a result of the enterprise refuse purchase of vyskointegrirovanny single platforms for management of clouds for benefit of the ecosystem products covering different offers.

In addition to the built-in functions of monitoring and configuring, business invests in complete solutions for expense optimization and performance of multicloud environments and unifitsirirovanny technologies for the organization of management of numerous diverse public or private clouds.

About 31.5% of costs for software for management of the cloud systems and services in 2018 were the share of public clouds.

IDC say that the strategy of the companies in the field of management and development of infrastructure unambiguously are based achieving good results in the field of automation of cloud applicaions. From here high demand on local solutions and SaaS model.

The first place of VMware in the market of analytics is connected with vision of the company which consists in creation of the program architecture allowing any application to earn in any cloud and to any application to be started on any device. For this purpose the company resorts both to purchase of assets, and to organic growth. Also VMware actively builds partner with suppliers of hyper scalable cloud products, like AWS, and developers of the equipment and services, such as Dell.

As for Microsoft, the company redistributes resources from the solution Microsoft System Center (simplifies management of a data processing center and IT infrastructure) towards Azure and therefore recorded significant growth of use of the all solution portfolio of Azure for cloud management.

Cisco continued to expand set for management of the CloudCenter multicloud environments by integration of technology of orchestration from the CliQr company purchased in 2016 and also abilities to manage with expenses and optimization of clouds from Cmpute.io company (it is absorbed at the end of 2017).

Also Cisco actively advances business on product output of AppDynamics subsidiary company which before accession to Cisco showed fast distribution of solutions SaaS. Now partners of Cisco advance the integrated offers of CloudCenter and AppDynamics worldwide.[1]

2017: Growth in sales of software for management of cloud environments for 18% to $4.2 billion

In October, 2018  results of a research of the world market of the software used for management of cloud environments were published by analysts of International Data Corporation (IDC). The leader does not change five years here.

In 2017 sales of software of management of clouds on a global scale reached $4.2 billion that is 18% more, than the previous year. The first place still saves VMware at which income in the considered market rose by 20.7% to $906.7 million that corresponds to a 21.7 percent share.

In 2015 sales of CSM solutions were on a global scale measured by $2.9 billion against $2.3 billion the previous year. The greatest demand for it of software fell on corporate clients, and among regions leaders appeared North and South America where the large-scale multicloud computing architectures supporting a number of ultimate important workloads become regulation, the analyst of IDC Mary Johnston Turner notes.

Microsoft caught up with IBM in the market of software for management of clouds

According to her, adverse exchange rate fluctuation contained growth of the market of CSM in the countries of Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Pacific Rim, however interest in these products continues to grow in the specified geographical zones.

IDC predict that by the end of 2017 about 80% of the companies will switch to the hybrid clouds consisting of several public and private cloud services and also traditional IT solutions.
