2019: Singapore published national standards for unmanned vehicles

At the beginning of February, 2019 Singapore published the national standards for unmanned vehicles intended for production control and information security of such transport.

The document was developed during 2018 by representatives of the sector of pilotless transport, research and public institutions and received the name "Tekhstandart No. 68". The main work was carried out by Committee on manufacturing standards of the Singapore council and also included the recommendations of foreign experts. Representatives of committee noted that technical standard No. 68 will be improved as production technologies of pilotless vehicles continue to develop, and the industry constantly provides new data.

At the beginning of February, 2019 Singapore published the national standards for unmanned vehicles intended for production control and information security of such transport.

The test center for development of standards and ensuring safe production of pilotless vehicles in Singapore was open in November, 2017. The center occupying two hectares in the innovation area Dzhurong was jointly developed by Management of land transport of Singapore, the Technology university of Singapore Nanyang and the Joint technical committee. On test section different elements are reproduced by local road infrastructure which are necessary for testing of navigation aids of UAVs. An object also includes the simulator of a rain and a zone of flooding for check of navigation capabilities of vehicles under different weather conditions.

The Chairman of the Committee on pilotless motor transport in Singapore Sucker Ngai Seng (Loh Ngai Seng) said that the first unmanned vehicles will appear in Punggola, Tenge and the area Dzhurong at the beginning of the 2020th years, and the new technical standard will ensure safety of this project for all involved persons. Besides, national standards offer a strong basis for business which will provide the compatibility of data and cyber security necessary for deployment of pilotless vehicles in the urban environment. The new technical standard will help to create the industry ecosystem including startups, the small and medium enterprises and also service providers on testing and certification of unmanned vehicles.[1]
