2019: Toyota provided the system of protection of a car spraying lacrimogeneous gas in stealing attempt

In March, 2019 Toyota disclosed information on the new system of protection of the car which will spray lacrimogeneous gas in stealing attempt.

Such anticreeping method is only a part of an advanced system which "recognizes" the driver and selects the corresponding smell. Recognition of the person is performed by means of the mobile phone — after synchronization of the device with automobile electronics the aroma which is preferred by the car owner will come to inside of the vehicle.

Among interesting features of development the deodorant deleting smells which can lead salon to a neutral status after engine shutdown and blocking of doors appears. Besides, the aroma can be extended remotely i.e. before the owner of the car sat down in it.

On it possibilities of Toyota technology are not limited. It as it is supposed, will be able to spray lacrimogeneous gas in case of unauthorized engine start — when the car is wanted to be stolen. The Japanese car maker does not disclose technical details of work of such function. It is obvious that before implementation of such idea having serious effects, Toyota needs to carry out numerous tests and to get approvals from regulators.

By March, 2019 the systems of aromatization of air are used in some expensive  Mercedes-Benz cars  and  BMW from which it is possible to select favourite aroma using a cartridge. Toyota suggests to build in a barrel with lacrimogeneous gas as an anticreeping measure. After appearance of this owner the car independently blows salon and  fills it with the "correct" aroma on  air ducts.^[1]

Toyota actively is engaged in measures of protection of the cars from foreign penetration as products of the Japanese company are among the most stolen cars in the world and in Russia, in particular.

2018: Toyota will protect in Russia cars from stealing by means of micropoints

In September, 2018 Toyota announced in Russia a new complex of protective measures from stealing of cars. The car maker hopes that the implemented developments will allow to lower the interest of car thieves in machines of the Japanese brand and also will open new opportunities for check of purity of history of the car at  secondary market purchase.

Special anticreeping identifiers which do senseless counterfeit of VIN numbers for the subsequent resale will be applied on the Toyota and Lexus cars.

The identifier with the PIN code is executed in the form of special imperceptible to a naked eye of micropoints with a diameter of 1 mm from which information can be read out only at their removal from a body and repeated increase

The identifier with the PIN code represents up to 10 thousand micropoints with a diameter of 1 mm which are applied on pedals, door loops directing seats, branch pipes and casings in a motor compartment. They cannot be made out with the naked eye. For reading information it is necessary to remove them from a body and to increase repeatedly. Even if criminals will replace separate parts, police officers all the same will be able correctly to identify the machine.

Besides, Toyota will increase the number of plates with VIN number on cars, and will allocate them with capability to self-destruct in attempt of rebonding and to shine in ultra-violet light. The company will also create a special online service by means of which it will be possible to check compliance of the actual parameters of the car to passport data and to compare the PIN code with VIN number.

Within implementation of a package of measures for hijack protection of Toyota Motor LLC also places additional plates with VIN number on different parts of the car

At last, Toyota will improve also regular anti-theft systems of the cars. For example, with change of model year of Toyota Land Cruiser 200 received sensors of an inclination, towage and internal volume.

 The next generation of the Lexus ES sedan will become the first Toyota model in the Russian market which will be marked by the new identifier. Identification protection  from the very beginning of sales will also provide the new compact  Lexus UX crossover, and  by  July, 2019 anticreeping marking will be present at  all  new Lexus cars sold in Russia. In  2019 the technology should appear on  all Toyota models.^[2]
