Leaba Semiconductor

 Leaba Semiconductor is the Israeli semiconductor company which is engaged in development of chips which provide the effective and configured routing of web traffic. The startup is founded in 2014, by the beginning of March of the 2016th it attracted in total $16 million investments.

2016: Cisco sale

On March 2, 2016 the Cisco corporation announced  Leaba Semiconductor purchase, hoping that technologies of the Israeli company will help to improve a technical part of network equipment.

The Cisco company will pay $320 million for Leaba acquisition. About when it is going to close the transaction, it is not reported.

According to the vice president for corporate development of Cisco Rob Salvagno, merger of Leaba will allow to accelerate development of the innovation strategy and will provide to the products Cisco higher differentiation in the market.

"Having integrated experience of Leaba in the semiconductor industry with a team of engineers of Cisco, we will accelerate implementation of our plans for creation of a product portfolio of the following of generations and delivery of new opportunities to the market" — Salvanyo said.

After accomplishment of all formalities concerning merger of Leaba, all staff of this startup (about 45 people) will get over in the division of Core Hardware Group headed by the senior vice president of hardware business of Cisco Ravi Cherukuri.

As the founder of Constellation Research research company Er Ray Wang (R Ray Wang) told the TechCrunch edition, by the beginning of March, 2016 Leaba has no only no ready-made product, but also even the finished prototype. Cisco purchased this firm only for the sake of her employees who will be engaged in development of new generation of chips for network equipment, the analyst considers.^[1]

The source of Reuters, close to Leaba, confirms that the American IT giant needs from the Israeli chipmaker only it "the talented command working on something that is of strategic interest to Cisco".^[2]
