History

2023: Death of Ukrainian Interior Minister and dozens of others in Airbus helicopter crash

On the morning of January 18, 2023, in Brovary near Kyiv, a Ukrainian helicopter crashed at a kindergarten, which housed the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, including the head of the department Denis Monastyrsky. After the crash of the aircraft, a powerful fire broke out in the building and its environs.

Judging by the colors and fragments of the car, we are talking about the helicopter of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Ukraine H225 Super Puma, produced by the French aircraft corporation Airbus. These devices have been in the service of state structures of Ukraine since at least 2018.

At the time of the tragedy, there were children and educators in the building, who were hit by debris from the explosion. It is known about eighteen dead citizens, several crew members and high-ranking officials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The nature of the fire, which spread to almost the entire courtyard, suggests that the helicopter was almost completely refueled. Ukrainian media report that the device that caught fire in the air hit a high-rise building, after which it collapsed.

2018: Sale of non-liquid Super Puma helicopters to Ukraine

The French in 2018 sold used Super Puma helicopters to Ukraine under a contract worth more than 550 million euros for the supply of 55 helicopters (light N125 and N145 and heavy N225 (Super Puma)). At the same time, Paris banks credited Kyiv with 85% of the transaction cost, just to get rid of unnecessary cars.

2016: In Norway, the propeller of the Super Puma helicopter came off in the air, 13 people died, all Western countries abandoned this model

The operation of the French Super Cougar helicopters of the Airbus Helicopters company was suspended by all Western states, after the crash of one of them in Norway in 2016 (13 people died), the propeller in the air broke off.

Since then, these helicopters have become illiquid in the world market.
