+ RT-proyektnye technology (RT-PT)

JSC All-Russia Institute of Light Alloys is the strategic enterprise in the field of creation of new technologies and production of metallurgical products from special alloys.

The institute VILS has the closed metallurgical production cycle integrated with testing and research facilities. As of February, 2018, in the innovative portfolio of institute there are 98 patents.

Scientific personnel and production capacities are concentrated on the uniform platform in Moscow. The largest shareholder of JSC VILS is the child structure of Rostec state corporationJSC RT-Proyektnye tekhnologii.

VILS performs the technical cooperation with the centers of additive manufacturing aiming creation of the closed production cycle on receiving parts from powder metalcompositions using additive technologies.

History

2018

The main objectives of development 3D are called there are printings

Specialists of "All-Russia Institute of Light Alloys" (enters into Rostec) designated the main objectives of development 3D there are printings. In article VILS of May 4, 2018 of one of key tasks is called increase in cost efficiency of production. So, by estimates of specialists of institute, 3D - printing will allow to reduce the cost of production of parts from titanium alloys by 30%. Read more here.

Use of metal powders in additive manufacturing

"All-Russia Institute of Light Alloys" (enters into Rostec) in February, 2018 announced that the metal powders received by it were used as material for a spherical pipe of the combustion chamber of the DG-4M turbojet used in missile systems. The pipe was made by the Samara national research university of the academician S.P. Korolev by method of the selection laser fusing relating to additive technologies. The product successfully passed tests in the conditions which are brought closer to real.

Powders (granules) were received from hot VV751P nickel alloy which is the patented development VILS.

As a result of joint works with the Samara university during which VILS acted as the supplier of powder from the innovation VV751P alloy and also as the developer of technologies of heat treatment of products, high mechanical product characteristics were received. They conform to requirements which are imposed to modern materials for engine building, including regarding indicators of strength, a tear strength and long durability — Marina Zenina, the leading specialist on metallurgy told VILS, Candidate of Technical Sciences.

In addition to the specified project, VILS joint works with "The center of technology competence of additive technologies" (Voronezh) and "Institute of laser and welding technologies" were carried out (St. Petersburg). The Voronezh center and specialists VILS interacted regarding production of samples and models of products using technology of the selection fusing. With the St. Petersburg institute works on receiving parts from powder of hot EI698P nickel alloy were conducted by method of laser heterogeneous powder metallurgy.

Compliance of granules VILS was confirmed to requirements imposed to additive manufacturing with testing of the SLM Solutions GmbH organizations (Germany), URFA (Yekaterinburg), ILIST (St. Petersburg), "UEC Aircraft engine" (Perm).

2017: Creation of "Engineering center of additive technologies"

The engineering center of additive technologies (ITs AT) will work as the center of coordination, creation, selection and adaptation of solutions on use 3D - modeling and printing for industrial enterprises of Rostec. "RT-Proyektnye technologies" as the largest shareholder VILS comprehensively promotes this activity. The share VILS in share capital structure of ITs AT will make 34%, other 66% of stocks as it is supposed, will belong to holdings of Rostec and private partners.

The full range of activity – from detection of requirements on use of additive technologies at the enterprises of Rostec before implementation of "turnkey" ready-made solutions and further service maintenance of customers enters tasks of ITs AT. Experience of ITs AT will be used for the benefit of other market participants interested in system approach to development of additive technologies. Among them – Roskosmos, Rosatom, Transneft, Gazprom and other enterprises, scientific and educational institutions, different laboratories.

The engineering working groups integrating specialists of ITs AT from VILS and the staff of the enterprise customer will be responsible them for detection of customers needs and the choice necessary industrial 3D - technologies. The feasibility statement about working off of the selected technology with indication of the necessary equipment and materials will become result of activity of group. Then certification and stage of experimental production of products by 3D method. At the same stage pass digitization of products for receiving their digital parametrical 3D model, testing of a ready sample, quality control and geometry of the made products is exercised. Activities for import substitution, including selection of the Russian supplies and working off of operation parameters at already available import systems of the enterprises of Rostec will become an important stage of experimental work.

Receiving a ready sample and the technology of its production fulfilled "turnkey" will become a result of experimental activity. Then the technology using ITs AT will be implemented at the customer's capacities along with training of specialists of this enterprise and certification of a product. After mastering of ITs AT technology is responsible for service warranty and post-warranty service of the customer and also in compliance with requirements uses the developed technology at the capacities.

On August 16 the State Corporation Rostec announced that based on All-Russia Institute of Light Alloys "Engineering Center of Additive Technologies" (ECAT) for the enterprises of Rostec will be created. More than 30 uoskorporatsii enterprises already declared determination for discussion of conditions and perspectives of joint work with "Engineering Center of Additive Technologies".

It is planned that ITsAT will act for the benefit of the enterprises of Rostec counting upon collective use of additive technologies. Specialists of the center will be engaged in coordination of research works, processes of selection and adaptation of solutions on use of additive technologies and also digitization and control of geometrical parameters of products.

Implementation of additive technologies 3D - modeling and production using 3D - printings is among the most dynamically developing directions of world metallurgy. And a task of State Corporation Rostec — to provide to the Russian metallurgical industry an opportunity to apply these technologies to support national sovereignty in the field of aerospace, power, ship engineering. Cooperation of scientists and producers based on the new center will allow to achieve synergy effect and over time to provide complete import substitution in production of materials for additive technologies — the deputy CEO of State Corporation Rostec Alexander Nazarov said.

Preliminary negotiations about cooperation took place also with equipment suppliers and supplies for additive manufacturing and digital measurements. For ensuring import substitution of supplies in additive manufacturing the possibility of creation of modular unit for production of powders of different alloys on VILS, applicable both for new, and for classical methods of production is studied that, as expected, will promote improving competitiveness of the Russian granulny metallurgy and, at the same time, to decrease in cost value of domestic metallurgical production.
