In Civil hope to solve a problem of a crisis of confidence in modern media using a blockchain and also to offer a new business model for mass media. The startup is going to set up similar cooperation with other representatives of the press.

According to the senior vice president for strategy and development of corporate applications of Associated Press Jim Kennedy (Jim Kennedy), the subject of observance of licensing rights is relevant now more than ever as in the agency worry that the published materials can be used by people free of charge and also for creation of fake news and introduction of readers to delusion.

Expression "fake news" (fake news) began to be used after the president USA Donald Trump used it in the context of expected intervention Russia in the American elections. The term became a phrase of 2017 according to English of Collins English Dictionary.

The founder and the CEO of Civil Mathew Ayles (Matthew Iles) said that partnership with Associated Press is aimed at that creators of content gained recognition - as in respect of authorship, and compensation - for the works created by them. By estimates of media companies, from 50% to 70% of materials are republished without mentioning of a source or compensation.[1]
