2018: System implementation, defining the person with weapon in crowd

At the end of September, 2018 the Athena Security company announced implementation of the system using artificial intelligence capable to identify the person with weapon in crowd. The new technology was developed in response to frequent cases of firing at the American schools.

Athena Security developed the software with algorithms of machine learning for the video surveillance systems used in shops, the companies, schools, etc. Software is started on the powerful computer equipped with the video card Nvidia 2080 RTX and supporting fast integration with security systems.

As soon as the camera, using machine vision, recognizes firearms, a system sends the notification to the panel of police or the security organizations. Also it can broadcast video through the application and block doors or stop elevators by means of the connected security systems.

New cameras learned to distinguish weapon and to call the police

According to developers, their technology, analyzing appearance and behavior of people, can define in crowd of the person who has a weapon. And does it with a 99 percent accuracy and high speed as all image processing happens locally, note in the company. The first new development began to be tested at one of schools in the American State of Pennsylvania.

Decided to implement a system from schools not accidentally. According to    the Gun Violence Archive organization created in 2013 for accounting of cases of firing  in the 2017th 346 such incidents in the USA were recorded. The problem became sharp, and educational institutions began to undertake different measures (equipment by metaldetectors, scanners of bodies, as at the airports, etc.) not to allow violence.

According to poll of PDK, in 2018 34% of parents worry for safety of the child at school that there is three times more indicator of the 2013th.[1]

Athena Security works on subscription model. The option with a full range of AI functions is offered for $100 a month, and the cheapest rate assuming only recognition of people — for $20 a month.
