2022: Increased assets and profits

The net profit of the Belarusian Sber Bank OJSC (a subsidiary of Sberbank of Russia) in 2022 amounted to 150.06 million Belarusian rubles, which is 1.1% less than a year earlier. The assets of the credit institution during this time increased by 1% - from 4.97 billion to 5.03 billion Belarusian rubles. Such data are contained in the bank's statements disclosed in early May 2023. The official rate at the time of publication of the data is 2,9018 bel. rubles/$ 1.

According to Interfax with reference to the materials of Sber Bank, by the end of 2022 the organization's loan portfolio amounted to 2.47 billion bel. rubles (a decrease of 4.1%), investments in securities - 788.3 million bel. rubles (a decrease of 15.9%), placed funds in the National Bank of Belarus - 745.5 million bel. rubles (an increase of 28.6%).

Belarusian Sberbank increased assets and profits

The obligations of the financial institution over the past year practically did not change (a decrease of 0.2%) and amounted to 4.18 billion bel. rubles, including customer funds - 2.85 billion bel. rubles (an increase of 2.8%), funds of other banks - 1.08 billion bel. rubles (an increase of 5.9%). According to the statements, the bank's authorized fund at the beginning of 2023 was 72.74 million bel. rubles, having decreased over the previous year by 1.2%.

It is noted that in the first half of 2022 in the banking sector in Belarus there was a repetition of the situation of 2020, when the increased demand for foreign currency, coupled with significant fluctuations, allowed banks to significantly increase revenues from operations with foreign currency. As a result, the contribution of this source to the income of the banking sector has grown significantly.

Sber Bank was able to strengthen its position by rising two steps in terms of assets in Belarus (from 6th position to 4th), one in terms of equity (4th instead of 5th place), two in terms of loan portfolio (from 6th position to 4th).[1]

2021: Decision to rename Sber Bank OJSC

On June 2, 2021, OJSC BPS-Sberbank held an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders of OJSC BPS-Sberbank, the agenda of which included the issue "On renaming OJSC BPS-Sberbank" and amending and supplementing the Charter of OJSC BPS-Sberbank. "

The Meeting of Shareholders decided to rename BPS-Sberbank Open Joint Stock Company to Sber Bank Open Joint Stock Company, as well as to approve amendments and additions to the Charter of BPS-Sberbank OJSC, including those related to the renaming of BPS-Sberbank OJSC.

Officially, OJSC BPS-Sberbank will be considered renamed from the moment of state registration of amendments and additions to the Charter of OJSC BPS-Sberbank in the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus.

In December 2009, the Government of the Republic of Belarus and Sberbank of the Russian Federation announced the signing of an agreement on the purchase by Sberbank of Russia of a 93.27% stake in BPS-Bank OJSC and the conclusion of an investment agreement on the long-term development of BPS-Bank.

In September 1991, the joint-stock commercial Belpromstroybank was established, and in March 1992, the meeting of founders decided to open a subscription to the bank's shares and after its completion it became an open-type joint-stock company. Following the Charter and the strategy approved by the shareholders, in the 1990s Belpromstroybank made a significant contribution to solving the problems of reforming the national economy and financial stabilization of enterprises.

1987: Formation of the Industrial and Construction Bank of the USSR

In the process of reform of the banking system, carried out in 1987, the Industrial and Construction Bank of the USSR was formed. The structural division of Promstroybank in Belarus began to carry out a full range of banking operations and services related not only to investment, but also to production and supply and sales activities of enterprises and organizations.

1959: Formation of the USSR Construction Bank

In 1959, the All-Union Bank for Financing Capital Investments was formed - Stroybank of the USSR. The Belarusian office of Stroybank focused on financing the construction and reconstruction of industrial enterprises, construction industry facilities, transport, communications, housing and social and cultural purposes (90% of capital investments carried out in the republic) and short-term lending to contracting construction organizations.

1941: Suspension of activities

In 1941, due to the temporary occupation of the territory of the republic, the bank's activities were suspended. In the difficult post-war years, the bank in a short time resumed its activities and ensured the fulfillment of the task of effective use of funds allocated for the restoration of the national economy.

1932: Formation of the CCC Capital Construction, Transport and Communications Financing Bank

In 1932, as a result of the reform of the credit system, the Bank for Financing Capital Construction of Industry, Transport and Communications of the USSR was formed. In the 1930s, the Belarusian office of the bank expanded its activities, opened the Gomel and Mogilev branches and financed more than 700 construction projects in 73 districts of the republic.
