Bezant

Company

The company was known as a monopoly supplier of secure electronic control tapes (ECLs) designed to ensure the non-correctability of fiscal data of cash registers (CCPs). Bezant does not have its own production facilities, and EKLS is manufactured at third-party enterprises, for example, at the Angstrom plant.

Bezant was the only distributor of EKLS in Russia until the end of 2009 - the beginning of 2010, when it had a competitor with its own EKLS product - Scientific Devices CJSC. The competitive advantage of Bezant over Scientific Instruments was that the EKLS of the latter did not have a certificate of conformity issued by the FSB.

Due to the position of the monopolist, the company was repeatedly complained to the authorities by[1]. In 2009, there were several dozen appeals on the president's website about this, containing complaints about the high cost of the EKLS, which, since October 2004, should be equipped with all the country's cash desks. Especially entrepreneurs are outraged by the sharp increase in ECL prices in the midst of the crisis - in December 2008 and February 2009.
