Turkish investment fund bought Bosch plants near St. Petersburg

On December 19, 2023, it became known about Bosch's decision to sell its plants in Strelna near St. Petersburg to the Turkish investment fund Can Holding.

As the To the businessman"" founder of the manufacturer of household appliances Jackie's Huseyn Imanov said, the Chinese manufacturer electronic engineers Hisense withdrew from negotiations on the purchase of Russian assets Bosch, as the Turkish company "offered twice as much." According to one of the sources of the publication, Bosch "was ready to part with the plant for $20 million, but the fund offered even more." By December 19, 2023, the deal is undergoing approval. Imanov also told Kommersant that Bosch has already fired 30 managers remaining in Russia who were selling equipment to retailers.

Bosch consistently left the Russian market, fulfilling its service support obligations and to employees, before dismissal they were given an annual salary, - said one of the newspaper's sources.

According to another source, Can Holding wants to launch the production of refrigerators, washing machines and embedded equipment under its own brands, part of the production capacity will be provided to other vendors. The interlocutor emphasizes that the terms of the transaction do not provide for buyback.

If Can Holding manages to launch a contract production of household appliances with Bosch quality, then many Russian brands would be interested in these production facilities, including, said Dmitry Shashkin, CEO of the Kuppersberg household appliance brand. In his opinion, by the end of 2023, Russia had a shortage of high-quality factories for contract production.

A representative of Marvel Distribution, in a conversation with the publication, noted that Turkish plants are technologically closer to German, and they can more fully use Bosch's developments to produce their products.[1]

Hisense bought Bosch plants in Russia

China's Hisense has acquired a number of Bosch's Russian assets. The exact amount of the sale was not disclosed, but earlier Bosch plants in Russia were estimated at $3.8-4.4 billion.

According to Kommersant's interlocutor, the Turkish investor offered Bosch a large sum, but Hisense provided the German company with a profitable option to buy back assets if it decides to return to the Russian market.

Hisense acquired a number of Russian Bosch assets

A source in the electronics market said that in early 2023 Bosch "began an internal tender" and identified possible applicants. These included the Chinese Hisense and Midea. By June 20, 2023, it is not specified which assets of the German company entered the perimeter of the transaction with Hisense.

Managing Director of the direction of large household appliances GC "F + tech|Marvell" Dmitry Levin in a conversation with the newspaper expressed doubts that Hisense paid the entire estimated amount.

File:Aquote1.png
In the current environment, outgoing non-residents from unfriendly countries are allowed to sell assets no more than 50% of the real value, so the deal was probably closed for less than half the price, he said, adding that buying and restarting the plant would cost Hisense much cheaper than building from scratch.
File:Aquote2.png

Gleb Mishin, head of the representative office of the manufacturer of household appliances Candy-Hoover Group in Russia, disagrees with this assessment. In his opinion, due to the fact that the equipment at these facilities was intended for the production of Bosch equipment, new owners will need to either upgrade it or install a new one.

File:Aquote1.png
Both options require serious investments, so sometimes it is easier to build a plant on your own, "he stressed.
File:Aquote2.png

According to Gleb Mishin, it will take at least six months to launch production and re-equip sites near St. Petersburg.[2]

FSUE NAMI bought 100% of Robert Bosh Samara LLC

Claims for failure to fulfill warranty obligations on household appliances after the outbreak of the conflict in Ukraine

Things are especially bad in the auto parts market: a number of dealers have run out of basic parts due to sanctions, which are necessary for routine maintenance of warranty cars, not to mention details for emergency repairs. Some experts call the situation in this area close to a catastrophe, Izvestia writes.

The President of the Association of Internet Trade Companies Artem Sokolov told the publication that the point here is not in breakdowns or malfunctions, but in the fact that the manufacturer in any case must be responsible for its products and provide guarantees to consumers.[4]
