2014: Creation of investment fund with the capital of 500 million euros

In November, 2014 Deutsche Telekom announced creation of investment fund with  the capital  in the amount of 500 million euros. The new company which received the name Deutsche Telekom Capital Partners (DTCP) will be engaged in financing of perspective startups and the innovation projects.

The telecommunication holding claims that the created investment fund which will earn at the beginning of 2015 will become the largest in Europe. It should help the German company to increase the volume and a scope of investment of a venture capital and also to contribute to the development of technology innovations. The priority in receiving direct investments will be given to firms and developers in Germany.

Deutsche Telekom creates investment fund for support of startups

The team of experienced investment managers who should distribute half a billion euro within 5 years will be attracted to work in DTCP. The staff of fund will also render consulting services to Deutsche Telekom. DTCP, responsible for work, appoints Thorsten Langheim who holds a position of the senior vice president of group on development of the corporate direction in Deutsche Telekom.[1]

"DTCP combines experience and force of large corporation with dynamism and flexibility of small investment company" — one of top managers of Deutsche Telekom Tim Hotdzhes (Tim Hoettges) noted.

Before creation of DTCP the telecommunication giant conducted investment work through the venture division of T-Venture founded in 1998. It will stop financing of new projects, but will save the investment portfolio numbering about 100 companies. Since 2015 will perform new investments of Deutsche Telekom only through DTCP.
