Library

The library of Diplomatic academy has the long-term history. The foundation was laid for it during creation in 1920 of rates of the National Commissariat of Foreign Trade (NCFT) and People's Commissariat for Foreign Affairs (PCFA) on training of the Soviet representatives abroad. Funds of library for personal instructions of A.V. Lunacharsky directly from Centropechati were replenished, and in 1933 a part of editions of diplomatic faculty of Institute of oriental studies of Narimanov were transferred to library of rates.

History

2006: Start of training of masters on specialization "The right and law-enforcement practice of the European Union"

The academy together with the Danube University (Austria, Krems) begins the educational project on training of masters of the European researches on specialization "Right and law-enforcement practice of the European Union".

2004: Set on the first higher education in "Hotel and tourist management" is open

The academy opens set on the first higher education on faculty "World economy" on the main specialty the bachelor of world economy and additional specialty "Hotel and Tourist Management". Training in additional specialty is provided together with Cesar Ritz Hotelconsult Colleges Institute (Switzerland).

The academy receives the repeated Certificate on the state accreditation (Series A No. 001425 of March 9, 2004) and the repeated License for the right of conducting educational activity (Series A No. 001753 of March 2, 2004).

The academy solemnly celebrated the 70 anniversary. Anniversary was celebrated in the Hall of Church Cathedrals of the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour on December 17.

1999: The faculty of World economy is open

Due to the intensive development of foreign economic relations in Academy the faculty of World economy opens.

The academy receives the Certificate on the state accreditation and the repeated license for the right of conducting educational activity in the field of professional education.

1998: New charter of Academy

The new Charter of Academy is accepted.

1995: The evening department is opened

The evening department opens.

1992: Free acceptance of listeners is open

The academy opens free acceptance of listeners.

1987: Creation of faculty of advanced training

In Academy the Faculty of advanced training is created.

1974: Conversion to Diplomatic academy MFA of the USSR

VDSh will be transformed to Diplomatic academy MFA of the USSR.

1964: The beginning of acceptance of listeners from the countries of allies

For study listeners from Albania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Vietnam, the GDR, Cambodia, Cuba, Mongolia, Poland, Czechoslovakia are accepted.

1950: Start of training of the senior diplomats

VDSh passes to training of the senior diplomats – secretaries, consuls and advisers.

1947: Advanced training courses of the leading diplomatic workers are created

At VDSh permanent Advanced training courses of the leading diplomatic employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR are created. Annual set – 30 people, duration of training is 9 months.

1943: Increase in number of the taught languages to 23

During World War II despite difficulties of wartime VDSh continues to work, the range of the learned languages extends: in 1943 - 1944 in VDSh 23 foreign languages were taught.

1939: Renaming into the Higher Diplomatic School (HDS)

The institute is renamed into the Higher Diplomatic School (HDS). Two departments are created: western and east with training terms 2 and 3 years.

1934: Creation of institute on training of diplomatic and consular workers

At the People's Commissariat for Foreign Affairs "The institute on training of diplomatic and consular workers with the two-year term of training" is created. A task of Institute – training of secretaries of plenipotentiary representations, vice consuls, attache and reviewers.
