History

2019: Amazon was purchased by E8 Storage

At the end of July, 2019 officially announced Amazon acquisition of E8 Storage for the purpose of expansion of the storage systems in data centers. Terms of transaction are not disclosed and though the Israeli media twisted that purchase cost Amazon $60 million, this digit is considered too overestimated.

At the same time the source, close to the company, confirmed purchase and told that all employees received the offer on work in Amazon Web Services, cloud division of Amazon. The Israeli command should integrate with the staff of AWS development center in Tel Aviv.

Purchased Amazon the developer of fast DWH for data centers

Amazon takes the leading positions in the market of cloud infrastructure long ago, and AWS became an important source of profit for Amazon in general. According to Gartner, in 2018 AWS controlled 47.8% of the market of cloud services while the share of Microsoft made 15.5%, and a share of Alibaba of 7.7%. For the purpose of optimization of the offered services AWS selected for acquisition the company which specializes in the equipment for fast work with data. According to information on the E8 Storage website, hardware products of the company provide 10-fold performance improvement in comparison with other SDH.

It is not the first Israeli startup in the field of data processing purchased by Amazon. So, in 2015 the American corporation purchased the Annapurna company which is engaged in equipment manufacturing for data processing centers. To the middle of 2019 Annapurna continues the activity and releases the different equipment for computer centers of AWS.[1]
