2023: PostgreSQL World DBMS Developer Ranking Leader

EnterpriseDB (EDB) topped the global developer rankings DBMS with, open source PostgreSQL prepared and published in late March 2023 by EDB analysts. The top five also includes companies,,, and Postgres Professional Fujitsu Microsoft (). Amazon AWS

The EDB ranking ranks companies by their contribution to the 15 version of PostgreSQL, released in September 2022. For analysis, EDB used release notes as well as a list of PostgreSQL committers. The analysis did not take into account independent and freelance developers. Read more here.

2020: EnterpriseDB buys PostgreSQL DBMS developer 2ndQuadrant

At the end of September 2020, EDB, which develops the PostgreSQL DBMS, announced the purchase of a competitor - 2ndQuadrant. Its participants did not disclose the financial component of the transaction. Read more here.

2019: Great Hill buys EnterpriseDB

On June 26, 2019, the sale of EnterpriseDB to private equity firm Great Hill Partners was announced. The cost and other terms of the agreement remained confidential.

The developer's former DBMS PostgreSQL owner, investment firm Catalyst Investors, will retain a minority stake in EnterpriseDB.

By the end of June 2019, EnterpriseDB has approximately 4,000 customers in different countries.

Great Hill Partners specialises in investing in companies whose businesses grow about the same as the market they operate in. By the end of June 2019, Great Hill Partners has 50 companies in its portfolio. As a rule, it invests $40-250 million and retains investments for 3-7 years.

EnterpriseDB engaged Jefferies as a consultant in a deal with Great Hill Partners, with Canaccord's Authenticity Group providing strategic support.[1]

2018: Revenue growth of 40%

In 2018, EnterpriseDB's revenue increased by 40%, and revenue from software subscription sales grew 37 consecutive quarters.
