2020: Creation of division

In the middle of June, 2020 it became known that Facebook creates venture division for investment into startups within experimental applications.

Facebook tries to define the following key player in the market of social networks to purchase it as it happened to Instagram and WhatsApp or to compare basic functions, as in a case with Snapchat for a long time. Hardly Facebook will can do one more large acquisition, considering serious antimonopoly check of the company. Therefore she tries to find other methods of assessment of new trends and perspective competitors before they become significant threat. Start of the official investment program focused on startups will allow Facebook to control the market even if the companies will prohibit to make major purchases in the future.

Facebook creates venture division for investment into startups

Facebook published a vacancy of "the head on investments" for the New Product Experimentation (NPE) command, ideally with 10 years' technical experience. "In this role you will manage multimillion fund which invests in the leading private companies along with venture firms and private investors", - it was said in the publication of Facebook.

The company confirmed that it found the candidate for this position, but refused to tell his name or to disclose the volume of investment fund. The New Product Experimentation command for the first time provided in the summer of 2019 is headed by the old chief executive of Facebook Ime Archibong. The new head of investments will directly submit to it. It is known that the former employee of Google Shabih Rizvi and Kleiner Perkins (Kleiner Perkins) who worked in Gradient Ventures, one of the corporate venture firms belonging to Alphabet will also manage new fund.[1]
