Far Eastern Federal University is federal public autonomous educational institution of higher education. DVFU is created by the decree of the Russian President of October 21, 2009 (No. 1172) and the order of the Government of the Russian Federation of April 2, 2010 (No. 503-r). Functions and powers of the founder are performed by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. (The history of the university begins since 1899). In DVFU students from 75 regions of Russia and also, more than 2000 foreign students from 35 countries of the world study. In the 2012th the new campus of the university on the island Russian became the venue of the summit of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC). DVFU is included into the rating of the leading research universities of the world (OS) and is the only Russian university as a part of Association of the universities of the Pacific Rim (PR).
The volume of scientific and pedagogical, educational and administrative personnel is over 50 thousand human. As priority activities of DVFU till 2019 the following is selected: resources of the World Ocean; energy resources and energy-saving technologies; industry of nanosystems and nanomaterials; transport and logistic complex; economic, technology, cultural interaction with the countries of the Pacific Rim and biologo-medical technologies.
In these directions the peculiar clusters combining three directions form. These are educational programs which in the maximum degree are focused on the employer, the research centers of world level in each cluster and structure of commercialization of research and development. At present the campus of the University is placed to Russky Island in the territory of which in 2012 there took place the summit of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation
Russians found a cheap method to create microlasers for photon computers
The effective, fast and cheap method is found to create perovskitny microlasers — sources of strong luminous radiation for optical microchips which then will be used in computers of the next generation. On March 13, 2019 reported about it to TAdviser in Far Eastern Federal University. The technology was developed by scientific DVFU together with the Russian colleagues from ITMO, scientists of the University of Texas of Dallas and the Australian national university. Read more here.
Robotics of DVFU won in the international championship Singapore
The joint command of Far Eastern Federal University (DVFU) and Institute of problems of sea technologies of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IPMT FEB RAS) won a victory in the open Championship of Asia on underwater robotics — Singapore AUV Challenge-2019 which passed in the Singapore polytechnical university from March 8 to March 11, 2019. 35 commands from India, Indonesia, Japan, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong and Macau, Thailand, Taiwan, Malaysia, Kenya, Turkey and Russia fought for a victory. Only 16 of them the selection qualification stage was succeeded to pass and to act in the final, reported TAdviser in DVFU on March 12, 2019.
The team of winners included undergraduates of School of digital economy of DVFU Andrey Makhlyarchuk, Aleksandra Zhikhareva, Nikita Utin, Alexey Shchurov and also students of a bachelor degree of Engineering school of university Ivan Chemezov and Vadim Saburov. Mentors of steel for them representatives of IPMT FEB RAS Alexander Pavin, Grigory Eliseenko and Maxim Sporyshev.
In the final the Russian team bypassed rivals from the Bogorsky agricultural university of Indonesia, the Northwest polytechnical university of China, the City University of Hong Kong and School of technology and management of Mukesh Patel in India — the national teams of the listed educational organizations took the first, second and third prizes respectively.
In Singapore Far Easterners provided the device which is called Pandora. He prepared especially for the championship. The robot is able to perform different functions under water, in particular to distinguish separate objects by means of eyes video cameras, to transport loads, to lift and reset them in a certain place. During the final the smart machine, using only own "sight", without communication with the person "performed" all tasks delivered by organizers: it overcame the set distance in the pool, passed in gate and found a pinger — the ultrasonic underwater beacon.

According to representatives of university, underwater robotics — one of the priority directions of development of Far Eastern Federal University. In this area the university has the international authority which is confirmed by successful performances of students and graduate students at prestigious competitions. So, since 2012 the DVFU command annually becomes the prize-winner in a class of independent robots on the world RoboSub tournaments and the Asian Singapore AUV Challenge championships, declared in organization.
The agreement about Insystems on creation of the 3D Center - design
The Insystems company (enters into group of LANIT) and Fund of support of a technology entrepreneurship of Far Eastern Federal University signed on July 30, 2018 the agreement on creation of the 3D Center - design based on university. The main objective of education center — training of specialists, having skills of work in modern design-time environment. It is expected that the center will contribute to the development of technopark Russian which is created also based on the university.
The students who completed a training course in the center will seize basic skills of work in software packages Autodesk Revit Civil 3D Navisworks. Given software is the most demanded and widespread in the field of BIM- modeling of buildings and constructions of industrial civil engineering. The received skills are useful to design engineers, builders, construction management specialists, engineers of services of operation and estimate business, noted in Insystems.
Training will take place in a specialized class in the territory of the university. The premises is equipped with computers, devices of a video conferencing and conducting the presentations. The program includes internal seminars, webinars and also remote occupations. Also examination-papers are provided control.
After successful passing of a rate students will be able to pass a training in training center in the territory of a campus of Far Eastern Federal University. Further perspective — employment in the 3D Center - design Insystems or in branch of the company in Vladivostok.
Scientific DVFU investigate influence of particles of aerosol on climate of the planet with assistance of IBM
Scientists of Far Eastern Federal University (DVFU) with assistance of IBM company (Armonk, the State of New York, the USA) will conduct a large-scale research of influence of particles of aerosol, including dust and other pollutants, on climate change. Using resources of the international technology giant the staff of DVFU will study interaction of the most fine particles with the sunlight. The research will show how they influence atmosphere temperature and whether it can become the reason of global warming or a cold snap, reported on April 27, 2018 in DVFU.
According to the leading researcher of DVFU School of Natural Sciences (SNS) Evgeny Zubko, scientists of the university are engaged several years in modeling of light scattering in micron particles of cosmic dust and got considerable experience in this sphere.
| ||According to experts of the UN, one of the most unexplored factors influencing climatic changes are aerosol particles. They reflect sunlight, both towards Earth, and in open space, reducing a flow of solar radiation. It leads to cooling of a surface and near-surface layer of air — Evgeny Zubko explained. — However, interacting with aerosol particles, a part of solar radiation is absorbed by material of particles that heats the atmosphere. And still it is not clear what of these actions is stronger. Studying of particles over 5 microns in size is of special interest, but big computing powers are for this purpose necessary. Using our methods and resources of IBM we will be able to answer this question.|| |
Entered into group of researchers ten scientific DVFU: employees, graduate students and students of older years. The research supervisor of the Nanotekhnologii center of DVFU, professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences Kirill Golokhvast acts as the co-director of the project. The collective will be helped by specialists and volunteers of World Community Grid who will conduct calculations and to send results to head office IBM in Chicago (USA) and further — in DVFU. Within the project scientists of the university will also get access to meteodata of The Weather Channel and to the IBM Cloud Object Storage platform. On the basis of these resources publications which will provide new knowledge of influence of particles of aerosol on the atmosphere will prepare.

Astrophysicists of DVFU as a part of the international groups participate in several research projects. Partners in work are the University of Granada, Institute of astrophysics in Andalusia (Spain) and Astronomical institute of the Slovak academy of Sciences (Slovakia).
Experiment on cages using methods of bioinformation science and computer simulation
Cages of live organisms are capable to transfer more than 2 bits of information. Such data were obtained by the scientist of School of biomedicine of Far Eastern Federal University (ShBM DVFU) Vladimir Katanayev with colleagues from Switzerland based on experiments on cages using methods of bioinformation science and computer simulation, reported in March, 2018 in DVFU. Information on a research is published in the international magazine Nature Communications.
| ||The receptors tied with G-proteins (GPCR) are a target of a half of all nowadays existing drugs. Therefore it is essentially important to know the information volume which the cage can authentically receive through these receptors — the head of the laboratory of pharmacology of natural connections of department of pharmacology and pharmacy of SHBM DVFU Vladimir Katanayev explained relevance of studying of communications between cages.|| |
During the experiments scientists subjected cages to influence of different concentration of a chemical signal and wrote their reaction. Data analysis and modeling allowed to draw a conclusion that GPCR receptors are capable to transfer, at least, two bits of information — much more, than was considered earlier.
| ||Using the calcic answer measured in separate cages at repeated stimulation of muskarinovy receptors we show that signal systems of GPCR have much higher data capacity, than was considered earlier — Vladimir Katanayev explained. — We estimate the throughput capacity of this transmission system of a signal higher than two bits. It means that the cage is capable to distinguish authentically, at least, four levels of concentration of agonist (chemical which causes a receptor response).|| |
The researcher noted that opening solves an old biological riddle about the principles of intracellular signal transmission. The received results will be useful to all who are engaged in medical researches and development of drugs. Research associates of the University of Lausanne (Switzerland), the Swiss institute of bioinformation science and other scientists also took part in work.
Let's remind, before Vladimir Katanayev as a part of the international group of researchers opened one of important mechanisms of formation of shoots of nervous cages. Scientists first-ever defined a signal chain which provides growth of the terminations of nervous cages in different organisms from insects to the person.
The prototype of the space microsatellite will be collected by participants of World Skills in DVFU
The prototype of the spacecraft will be designed, participants of the Open selection championship "Young Professionals (WorldSkills Russia)" in Far Eastern Federal University (DVFU) will collect and will test. The new competence "Engineering of the Space Systems" became the eleventh in the program of competitions in international standards of WorldSkills which will go to DVFU from September 19 to September 22, 2017.
As reported in September, 2017 the chief expert of competence "Engineering of the Space Systems", the director of the Center of project activity of DVFU Stanislav Karpenko, students will assemble the functional model of the microsatellite for shooting of Earth from space. The device includes all necessary systems for work in an orbit and also the camera of remote sensing.
In the first day of the championship participants will design the device in the program of three-dimensional modeling, will carry out numerical calculations of its movement on an orbit and will program the on-board computer. Further students will assemble the satellite and will execute comprehensive tests of systems. In final, the third, day will take place functional test of the device — for simulation of flight conditions the satellite will be placed on the special stand.
| ||Since new academic year the astronautics will become one of subjects for project work of students in the new Center of project activity of DVFU — Stanislav Karpenko told. — We are going to gather teams of bachelors and masters of the different directions which will develop, collect and as a result will launch the small spacecraft of a format kubsat. In general 65 students of the higher and secondary professional education, including branch in Nakhodka will participate in the WorldSkills championship in DVFU. Experts, teachers and representatives of the enterprises — the plants "Progress", "Dalpribor", Hyundai hotel, Tiger de Cristal, the Far East representative office Skolkovo and others will estimate participants. The business part directed to transformation of educational programs of DVFU under standards of WorldSkills and also an interaktiva for school students on acquaintance to future professions is planned.

DVFU and ASI Cyber of Russia will start the program of a magistracy Game development & VR
Far Eastern Federal University (DVFU) and the project of ASI Cyber of Russia agreed about start based on university of the program of a magistracy Game development & VR since September 1, 2017 in six directions. It is planned that students of Game development & VR will learn to develop and implement perspective types of the software based on technologies of virtual and augmented reality.
"By 2020 we are going to let out more than 100 specialists qualified and demanded in IT market and also to receive the experts-tutors capable to train children and to help them to be guided with the IT sphere" — the vice rector for development of DVFU Dmitry Zemtsov told.
According to him, in a magistracy on 135 budget places teachers of university and the invited specialists Cyber of Russia will teach students to game design, creation of the user scenarios and models of operation of devices the virtual, added and mixed reality, development and optimization of VR/AR-applications for PC and mobile platforms in such directions as "Applied mathematics and information science", "Information science and ADP equipment", "Information systems and technologies", "Trade case", "Advertizing and public relations", Innovatics.
"When opening a magistracy in DVFU paid to the person attention to synthesis of classical specialties — marketing, PR, trade — and software development. It will allow specialists to implement successfully new technologies in the existing markets" — Dmitry Zemtsov considers.
The term of training will be two years. Instead of lectures students will be engaged in project practice and each half a year to represent and defend the projects during the hackathons Cyber of the East.
"As a result upon termination of the master program students will receive from one to four business projects which it is possible to develop and commercialize and also already created command. Our task — to help students to prepare the maximum quantity of projects for commercial use" — the head Cyber of Russia Roman Povolotsky emphasized.
Besides, the task of development of computer games and attractions of VR in technologies of virtual and augmented reality will be set for pupils.
Project activity will be based on the application software using VR, AR, MR technologies and also hardware and software systems Microsoft HoloLens HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, Samsung Gear VR and the Unity development environments, Unreal Engine. Upon termination of training students will receive the certificate of the international sample.
DVFU and Kaspersky Lab will open education center on the Russian island
Far Eastern Federal University (DVFU) and the Russian developer of information security systems Kaspersky Lab signed in June, 2017 the agreement on strategic partnership in education. In DVFU the Scientific and education center of information security of Kaspersky Lab will appear.
The parties agreed jointly to develop and implement the educational and scientific programs aimed at the development of the general and professional education of cyber security. A main goal of partnership — creation of the favorable educational environment for formation and development in youth of competences in cyber security and training for the industry of high technologies.
"Development strategies of the university and Kaspersky Lab move in one direction now, and we hope that we on key subjects quickly enough will come to success — the vice rector for development of DVFU Dmitry Zemtsov noted. — Kaspersky Lab is the international company having large-scale vision and focused on the world market. We expect to improve together educational programs of DVFU and also are ready for cooperation with offices "Kaspersky Lab". The time zone of Vladivostok allows to make a continuous chain for 24-hour development — a dream of IT specialists".
The parties will draw attention to cyber security, will support the talented youth wishing to master technologies and software products. Will create the educational and methodical base integrated into the educational, scientific and educational environment.

DVFU will act as the partner who will transform our knowledge to a format, convenient for students, and will implement them on educational Wednesday. Also we plan joint scientific research and we will be glad to interaction with your scientists — the head of educational programs of Kaspersky Lab Dmitry Postelnik told. — Besides, we have offices worldwide, and we want to connect DVFU with universities on the general scopes of developments, especially in the Pacific Rim".
The parties will also keep development of entrepreneurial skills and startups of students and teachers of DVFU. Dmitry Postelnik emphasized that Kaspersky Lab is interested to find the original ideas and to help to realize them in the software products and services interesting to the market.
In plans — to create in DVFU Scientific and education center of information security of Kaspersky Lab which will provide educational and information and consulting services as in university, and to external customers.
Victory in tender on use of the IBM World Community Grid resources
In 2017 it was decided to take part in tender on use of the World Community Grid resources — volunteer network of IBM corporation which gives ample opportunities for computer simulation. The scientific organizations from around the world participated in selection, the final was reached by over 70 requests.
The Russian project from DVFU on modeling of light scattering micron particles of cosmic dust became one of three winners on an equal basis with scientific centers from the USA (Emory University) and the Netherlands (Delft University of Technology).
