In November, 2013 IBM announced Fiberlink purchase: one of the first companies which began work on adaptation of use of sensational points from Google, Google Glass, for industrial tasks. The key market for FiberLink Communication is the market of the solutions MDM (mobile device management is mobile device management).

The systems of the class MDM allow to coordinate the companies work of the portable devices used by employees including smartphones, tablets and notebooks (in IT terminology this concept received the name "take the device with yourself", "bring your own device" or BYOD).

The purpose of IT administrators is not absolute control of contents of such devices, but at the same time they should be sure that their use does not contain threats for corporate information security in interaction of devices with business systems, just this problem is solved by MDM.

The market of MDM only forms so it is not surprising that IBM made the decision to purchase the company pioneer in this market. FiberLink as it was already told above, is the first MDM developer for Google Glass devices. According to forecasts of Gartner, the Google Glass device widely will enter corporate use by 2017.

Terms of transaction the parties do not reveal, however, it is known that in 2003 FiberLink received investments of $50 million from Technology Crossover Ventures.
