More than 20 years ago the company, being the specialist in the field of Internet security and the beginner in protection against viruses, developed the first anti-virus software. For the last 5 years of G Data became the most titled producer of the antivirus software and takes the leading positions in national and international testings. The G DATA company is the leader in the field of quality and combines the best world security technologies in the products. Examples are Technology of double scanning with two virus scanners independent from each other and also instant protection against epidemics.

With implementation of technology of double scanning in 2002 the success story of G Data Security began. From this time, at first G Data AntiVirus, and then G Data InternetSecurity and the solution "all-water" G Data TotalCare are constantly received by the appreciation and wins victories in tests of the most famous domestic and international specialized editions.

Business in Russia

In August, 2010 it became known that G-Data until the end of 2010 will open official representation in Russia, Roman Karas managing sales of vendor in retail and future CEO of office told CNews. The representative office will be in Moscow, search of the premises is now conducted. At the time of opening at the Russian office G-Data about 4-6 people who are responsible for sales and promotion of products will work.

In November, 2011 the German software developer of G Data Software reported that at the beginning of 2012 he intends to open representation in Moscow. Still, since the end of 2009, products of the company are presented at the Russian market through partner distributors.

The antivirus of G-Data is presented at the Russian market since December, 2009, however all this time the company performed deliveries through distributors. The main efforts are going to be concentrated on the corporate sector. Now, according to Karas, corporate sales exceed sales in retail approximately twice. Until the end of 2010 the company is going to occupy 1% of the Russian market, and by 2013 – 3%. For comparison - according to all available data from anti-malware information and analytical center, in 2009 McAfee share in this market in Russia made 1.6%, and Panda Security – 0.6%.

Estimates of competitors

Competitors of G-Data consider that chances of the company of success in Russia are extremely small. So believe in ESET (nod32 antivirus) that now it is extremely difficult to new players to win even a small piece of "anti-virus pie" as the input threshold on the market is extremely high. "Trends of the market are like that that only leaders grow, shares of players of "the second echelon" constantly decrease. Chances of growth of the companies of "the third echelon" which also new players treat are extremely low. In retail to leave impracticable now – networks want to work only with those producers whose products are already in high demand", - Anna Alexandrova, the marketing director of the Russian representative office of ESET says.

Speaking about corporate clients, Alexandrova noted that here the situation looks similarly – the competition is too high. "A lot of things will depend on the correct creation of the sales channel and also investments into marketing", - she concluded. The exact amount of such investments in representatives of G-Data in a conversation with CNews was refused to be called, but emphasized that locate "considerable funds" for marketing.

"If to speak specifically about the Russian business market, then the contact to him is complicated by additional factors among which - special technical requirements of state regulators and also the high level of the competition. It is improbable that the company which is not among global manufacturers of antiviruses will manage to occupy a significant share here in the next 10 years", - Gudilin concluded. He also mentioned examples of unsuccessful exits in this segment. In particular, about Sophos company which left the Russian business market, having limited to "several accidental transactions". "The problem was that this company was guided by corporate clients, without staking on gaining trust of home users", - Gudilin told. Let's remind that about two years ago the Bitdefender company tried to enter the Russian market also, however in several months the producer of antiviruses contracted the representation.

Shabanov also expressed bewilderment, concerning at the expense of what the market share of the company in Russia will grow. "In my opinion, in a technical aspect in their product there is nothing special, - he told. – The antivirus of G-Data is based on two third-party engines – Avast and BitDefender – however it in itself does not bear serious advantages: protection level strongly does not increase, but more "stops the computer". Besides, with two engines the probability of false operation of an antivirus increases", - Shabanov noted. The analyst also added that he did not see positive reviews of users about this product.
