Systemically significant bank

Orders of 1/30/2013 No. OD-102, No. OD-103 and No. OD-104 the head of the Central Bank Elvira Nabiullina transferred Gazprombank, Promsvyazbank and Raiffeisenbank from under supervision of General Directorate of the Central Bank across Central Federal District directly to central office of the Central Bank — under observation of the director of the department of supervision of systemically significant banks Mikhail Kovrigin. These banks became the first whom the regulator recognized systemically significant and took on a specific mode of supervision.

This department in structure of the Central Bank was created still on October 1, 2013 for establishment of special supervision of the largest players. However the list of such systemically important banks is still not ready: according to instruction No. 3174-U "About determination of the list of systemically significant credit institutions", the Central Bank had to begin preparation of this list only after the introduction of the document in force, i.e. since February 2 of the current year. It is supposed that it will include banks which assets are 0.17% and more from total assets of the Russian banking sector. Besides, the volume of attraction of deposits of natural persons and transactions in interbank market at them should be also 0.17% of a cumulative indicator on the market. Experts consider that under such supervision about 20 banks can get.

According to the results of 1 quarter 2011 Gazprombank borrows: on assets - the 3rd place; by the amount of the capital - the 3rd place; on the credits to the non-bank sector - the 3rd place; on means of individuals - the 3rd place.

In November, 2010 Moody's Investors Service reviewed the forecast for the rating of financial stability of Gazprombank for Positive and confirmed the long-term rating of foreign currency deposits at the level of Baa3; the rating of Gazprombank on debt obligations in a foreign currency and rating on long-term domestic currency deposits at the level of Baa3. The rating of financial stability is at the level of E+.

According to the consolidated IFRS reporting the net profit of the GPB Group (joint stock company) for the first half of the year 2011 was 38.1 billion rubles against 32.7 billion rubles the previous year. Comprehensive income for the first half of the year 2011 was 26.8 billion rubles in comparison with 35.6 billion rubles for the same period of 2010.

The capital of the GPB Group (joint stock company) increased in comparison with the end of 2010 by 9.8% to 244 billion rubles at the expense of the got profit.

The main sources of a group profit are interest and commission income. The normalized stable bank income from crediting and commission business of Gazprombank in the first half of the year 2011 grew in comparison with the same period of 2010 more than twice and was 32.5 billion rubles. In addition in 1 half-year 2011 the credit commissions in the amount of 12.1 billion rubles representing income from single transactions were received.

Significant growth was shown by the loans granted to individuals – from 96 billion rubles for the end of 2010 to 114 billion rubles on 6/30/2011 (growth by 18.8%).

In 1 half-year 2011 the share of means of clients in structure of obligations grew from 68.5% as of the end of 2010 to 71.4% on 6/30/2011. As of this date means on accounts of corporate clients made 984 billion rubles, having increased by 3.9% in comparison with the end of 2010, deposits of individuals – 260 billion rubles that represents growth by 9.0%.

The net profit of Gazprombank at the end of 2011 grew by 2.7 times and was 39 billion 162.3 million rubles against 14 billion 460.4 million rubles, says credit institution the previous year. Data are provided without events of a postreporting date.

At the meeting which took place on December 29, 2011 the Supervisory board of the "Development Bank and External Economic Activity (Vnesheconombank)" State corporation made the decision on participation of Vnesheconombank in the capital of GPB (joint stock company) for the total amount of 50 billion rubles by acquisition of 2,500,000 shares placed during additional issue.

Earlier, in December, 2011, at the GPB extraordinary General shareholder meeting (joint stock company) the decision on increase in authorized capital of Bank by placement of additional ordinary registered shares on the closed subscription was made. In connection therewith the solution major shareholders of GPB (joint stock company) – JSC Gazprom and Gazfond also increase the amount of the equity participation of Bank by total amount of 40 billion rubles.

Perspectives of commercialization of quantum technologies

Gazprombank "sees essential potential in commercialization of quantum technologies regarding communications", including in terms of the "essential results" achieved by Russian Quantum Center which financing performs bank. It on Finopolis 2019 in Sochi was said by the vice-president of bank board Dmitry Zauers. He also noted that quantum technologies need to be certified, and now Gazprombank "conducts discussion with the Central Bank" about creation of such standard [1] (in more detail).

2018: Formation of JV MF tekhnologii

The MegaFon company announced on May 8, 2018 creation of joint venture JSC MF tekhnologii (MFT) with Gazprombank, Rostec and USM Holdings for digital service development and projects implementation in the field of digital economy. Under the terms of the transaction, MegaFon will enter to joint company 11,500,100 of the stocks Mail.ru Group of class A owned by it (that makes 5.23% of economic and 58.87% of the voting share in Internet holding).

2011

  • Expenses of Gazprombank on the works and services connected with information technology development in 2011 made 473 million rubles. It is 13 million rubles more than a similar indicator of 2010.

  • In the 4th quarter 2011 the bank spent about 209 million rubles for IT that also exceeded an indicator 4 quarters 2010.

  • In the first half of the year 2011 expenses of Gazprombank (payments to partners) for the works and services connected with information technology development made 156 million rubles. In the first quarter 58 million rubles, in the second – 98 more million rubles were spent for these purposes, said in the reporting of bank.

At the same time, according to the results of the first two quarters 2010 the similar budget of Gazprombank made 191 million rubles (76 million rubles and 115 million rubles respectively on quarters). It should be noted that the most part of IT expenses in Gazprombank traditionally are the share of the second half of year. For two last quarters 2010 they made 79.4 million rubles and 192 million rubles respectively. Thus, the general IT budget of bank in 2010 made 462.4 million rubles. As stated in the reporting of Gazprombank, investments require three main directions: upgrade of the automated banking system (ABS), the corporate data warehouse (DWH), and, at last, analytical applications using which employees of the bank make decisions in the field of asset management and risks (BI). Also Gazprombank lists the main partners in informatization in the report: IBM, Hewlet-Packard, Microsoft, Oracle, Sybase, SAS Institute, Experian Scorex and also Russian Diasoft, R-Style, CFT, BSS. Despite serious reduction of the IT budget, the board member of Diasoft Alexander Gentsis did not notice reduction of works on informatization in Gazprombank. "We do the core banking system of bank, finished the project on retail centralization (i.e. in regions work with individuals is conducted in a single central system - a comment of CNews), on ourselves did not feel any reductions, - he says. - As far as I can judge at Gazprombank ambitious IT strategy". As the development director of BCC Revaz Bukhradze considers, decrease in IT costs of bank can be connected with the termination of one of IT projects.

2010

Internet banking House bank based on the solution BSS was brought into commercial operation. Now services are provided to holders of plastic cards of bank. In 2011 it is going to expand its functionality for service of accounts, transfers and the credits of natural persons. Also in 2010 transfer to the centralized personnel system based on "The boss - the company" was complete.

In the next plans — start of electronic document management based on Documentum and also upgrade of corporate telephony and call center on the solution Avaya.

Among the principles from which the bank at informatization of the activity proceeds in the reporting orientation to scalable industrial IT solutions, development of IT infrastructure on the principles of service-oriented architecture (SOA), componentization and standardization of solutions are selected.

Local IT solutions in a branch network should be unified and as a result are replaced with the centralized analog. For centralized operation IT resources in Gazprombank create DPC.

As earlier Alexey Shirokikh told CNews, cloud computing was also taken into account when developing IT strategy of bank, however he calls public "clouds" still insufficiently mature.

A. Sh.: We finished centralization of the systems connected with service of retail clients, just in line with that global trend directed to centralization about which I just spoke. Based on the # Diasoft 5NT FA platform in our bank the centralized system of support of retail transactions is constructed. Based on the platform of CFT the settlement center was implemented, also on this platform the project of centralization in the field of settlement and cash services of corporate clients of bank is implemented.

Other project completed in 2010 which from my point of view is sign for bank, this implementation of automation of transactions in financial markets based on solutions of Calypso company. The uniqueness of the project is that we using consultants of Calypso company and their Russian business partner – Neoflex company managed to pass in seven months a way from zero – from the description of business processes on automation of transactions prior to operation of a system. The project, in my opinion, perfectly showed the fact that we in the country have companies able to implement the western solutions, which are the best in the class in very short terms.

It is possible to note also start in commercial operation of the solution for Internet banking. The modern bank cannot effectively work without such functionality any more. Today, high-quality and intuitive Internet banking is one of important criteria for clients when choosing bank for service.

A number of projects was directed to increasing internal efficiency of work of employees of the bank. The new Website of bank which is the business card of bank and allowing to find quickly information on bank, the services offered them and products for clients of bank and its partners was started. Within increase in level of informatization of bank the project on creation corporate the intranet portal of bank which purpose was a creation of information environment for employees of the bank for more operational and effective interaction was implemented. As for IT infrastructure, works on a clustering of key and crucial information systems of bank were carried out. Now practically all systems are clustered, i.e. in fact the fault tolerance and the continuity of work of all key information systems of bank is provided. As result of this work, now at emergence of failure in any of systems, other components automatically undertake a part of its functions. Thus, we had an opportunity to provide the continuity of provision of services: at emergence of failures performance of systems decreases, but provision of services does not stop.

Signing with Sberbank of binding documentation on sale of 35% of a share "MF of Technologies"

Sberbank announced on November 19, 2019 signing of the binding documentation on acquisition of 36% in JSC MF Tekhnologii controlling 58.3% of voting shares of Mail.ru Group at JSC Gazprombank (in the amount of 35%) and Rostec state corporations (in the amount of 1%) and becomes the equal partner in this company. Intention to open 100 departments in 2020

On October 18, 2019 it became known that in 2020 Gazprombank intends to open 100 additional physical departments across all Russia. For October, 2019 it in the country has 400 departments, thus, their quantity will be increased by 25%.

According to the vice chairman of the board of Gazprombank Dmitry Zauers, about 30% of sales of retail products of bank are performed on digital channels. Such strategy of bank assumes that it will focus on development of these channels. The top manager reported that since the beginning of 2019 Gazprombank managed to increase the number of users of mobile bank several times.

However the aspiration to digitalization does not prevent bank to go for increase in number of physical departments consciously.

Closing of the transaction on sale of shares of CST

Sale of 51% of a share block of CST to Sberbank

On April 12, 2019 Sberbank announced TAdviser the conclusion of the transaction with Gazprombank and Digital Horizon venture capital company within which the share block in CST group, the Russian developer of biometric technologies purchased at Gazprombank 51%. The capital of CST also included Digital Horizon. Financial terms of transaction do not reveal. It is going to close it until the end of May, 2019.
