According to researches of the independent agencies (2010) - Infonetics, Synergy and Dell'Oro - Genband is supplier number one in global market of VoIP providers on program switches, media gateways, boundary controllers of sessions, media servers and application servers.

Products & Services

Genband specializes in the solutions VoIP for the fixed and mobile networks and is present at the markets of more than 80 countries of the world. In addition to the solutions VoIP the company proposes solutions for convergence of wire and cellular communication (FMC), IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) and LTE.

Genband will support and develop all products Nortel. Genband is going to invest in 2011-2012 about $100 million in R&D. After purchase of the world-best solution VoIP of Nortel, the only logical way - to support and develop this asset. The plan consists in integration of the products Genband, in particular - media gateways, in wider switching product line which got to Genband from Nortel.

In addition to Nortel equipment for the fixed networks and VoIP-solutions of Genband, the company brings a number of the innovation products to the Russian market. First of all, it is the boundary controller of sessions (SBC) which is widely used worldwide (the solutions SBC - S3 and S9). A situation in the Russian market such is that operators had no choice until recently - technically worthy solution was only at one producer. From here and price. The solution Genband is absolutely competitive that is checked by numerous projects in the world, and at the same time it is significantly cheaper. We see the big future behind this product, it is already certified, and we actively bring it to the market.

Other interesting solution - DPI (Deep Packet Inspection) - too has good perspectives. The analysis and traffic management which it provides can help operators to reduce loading of network, to liquidate malware and undesirable applications and also to create a basis for delivery of new user applications. DPI is a new solution, but almost all Russian operators to whom in the company talked, are already interested in such technology.

In future Genband will save focusing on migration of networks on IP technology, we want to take part in IP transformation of the fixed and mobile infrastructure.

History

  • The company is founded in the USA, in the State of Texas, in 1999. From the moment of the basis the company is characterized by the stable and rapid growth caused as organic development in the market, the successful partner strategy, and absorption of strategic assets.

  • In May, 2010 Genband Inc. purchased VoIP- business Nortel. All assets of Nortel in the field of VoIP, including offices worldwide, divisions of sales and projects implementation, all technical expertize, division R&D and also intellectual property were purchased. It gave to Genband a complete portfolio of the standardized VoIP-solutions and provided an opportunity to work with operators who pass from the traditional fixed networks to the latest IP and IMS technologies and also from networks 2G and 3G to the solutions LTE/4G. With merger of Nortel the Genband company grew from 400 to 2.5 thousand employees.

It was difficult, but at the same time and the obvious solution. It was clear that this absorption will give the chance to integrate solutions of two leaders in this segment of the market, and these solutions integrally supplement each other. Surprisingly, but consolidation took place ideally harmoniously - to each product of each company there was a place in the integrated solution portfolio as if they were specially created for each other. Consolidation of a product line of the best gateways Genband in the market and program switches of development Nortel which took high market positions created VoIP solution portfolio holding the highest place in the world ranking. The company called this portfolio of Power of One - unity force.

  • In May, 2010 Genband Inc. created the Russian legal person - Dzhenbend Rus LLC. General managing director of Genband Inc. across Russia and the CIS Evgeny Dryakin was appointed. Nortel had in Moscow an office which represented also Nortel VoIP. Many staff of Nortel passed into staff of new Moscow office Genband. The company saved all key assets which were located by Nortel, including divisions of sales and project implementation, engineers and technical support.

Clients

Among clients of Genband there are such successful world companies as Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, TELUS, TMobile, PAETEC, CenturyLink, MetroPCS, Leap Wireless, Bell Canada, Rogers, British Telecom, BSNL, Globacom, China Mobile, China Unicom and NTT.

In spite of the fact that the Genband brand is new to Russia, products of the company successfully work at networks of many Russian operators. Before merger of Nortel the Genband company worked mainly through global partners, such as Nokia Siemens Networks, Alcatel-Lucent, NEC, etc. which built technological solutions including using the products Genband. Within that strategy practically did not work with final customers of Genband. So if the Russian operators will attentively study the equipment used by them, then many of them will detect the products Genband.

The VoIP-division of Nortel at the time of purchase by Genband company occupied in Russia and the CIS countries the leading positions in the field of Carrier VoIP networks with the installed base to several million ports. Thus, Genband equipment, including the installed Nortel CVAS base, can be met on networks of most of large operators in Russia and the CIS.
