2015: Lancope purchase by Cisco company

On October 27, 2015 the Cisco corporation announced Lancope purchase more than for $450 million. Thus, the American producer of network equipment continued to strengthen the business in information security field (cybersecurity) due to absorption of profile assets.

Under the terms of the transaction which Cisco is going to close within the second financial quarter (will come to the end in January, 2016), the company will pay for Lancope about $452.5 million cash and options and also will issue awards to employees who will join it from the absorbed firm. It is approximately about 300 employees who will pass into the Information security department of Cisco Security Business Group headed by David Goeckeler.

Cisco buys the IB-large developer of solutions Lancope for $453 million

Cisco are familiar to Lancope technology as the companies cooperated for several years: the American giant sold the network infrastructure together with the solution Lancope StealthWatch.

Cisco says that purchase of Lancope will add the strategy of the company aimed at providing protection against threats at all stages – from their prevention before elimination and mitigation of consequences. The portfolio of the cybersecurity products Cisco will extend, in it means of the analysis of network behavior will appear.

"For many years Lancope was a part of cybersecurity solutions of Cisco within successful commercial cooperation, and now we merge in one command — the vice president for corporate development of Cisco Rob Salvagno says. – As a result of Lancope incorporation our integrated solutions will be able to turn client networks into control facilities behind security".

From 2013 to 2015 Cisco actively improved the technologies of ensuring cyber security by means of purchase of cybersecurity developer. In particular, the companies Sourcefire OpenDNS, by ThreatGrid, Portcullis and Neohapsis were purchased.^[1]
