2014: Tokuo Fukuichi is the new head of Lexus

Tokuo Fukuichi has been running Lexus since April 2014. According to him, Lexus in a quarter of a century did not manage to achieve the level of consumer confidence that premium Germans Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz are famous for. Therefore, the company cannot afford to risk quality even for the sake of increasing production. The new head of the brand first of all said that Lexus would not be done in China. Cars will continue to be imported to China, although due to high duties, the cost of Lexus is uncompetitive compared to the "Big German Three."

In particular, we are faced with the need to expand by attracting younger audiences who value technology, dynamism, and bright, futuristic car design. Immediately after being appointed to the post, Mr. Fukuichi stated in one of his first interviews that he would no longer create a sleek design.
