In November, 2016 the Siemens company announced acquisition of Mentor Graphics company.

History

2017: Mentor Graphics was a part of Siemens PLM Software

In April, 2017 it was announced that Siemens closed the deal on acquisition of Mentor Graphics corporation — the leading system provider of automated design of electronic devices (EDA). The Mentor company became a part of division of Siemens PLM Software therefore there was the leading world supplier of the industrial software for designing, computational modeling, control of project solutions, carrying out tests and production of products. In modern products — from smartphones and home appliances to cars, airplanes and technology equipment — difficult built-in electronics is more and more widely used. The Siemens company holds unique position at this time and offers the integrated, full-function automated design engineering systems of similar products.

Since 2007 the Siemens company invested about 10 billion dollars in different developer companies of the software and significantly expanded the presence in this market, having purchased such companies as UGS, LMS, Camstar, Polarion and CD-adapco. With acquisition of Mentor company the Siemens company will continue policy of embedding of the new organizations and technologies in the solution package for digital production. This packet allows customers to create the most exact and complete digital doubles of products and technology processes.

2016: Siemens buys Mentor Graphics for $4.5 billion

On November 14, 2016 the German industrial giant Siemens announced acquisition of Mentor Graphics for the purpose of gain of software business and strengthening of the positions in the American market.

Siemens will pay about $4.5 billion or $37.25 for the stock of this company for Mentor Graphics purchase that is 21% more than a quotation rate according to the results of biddings on November 11, 2017.

Siemens buys the CAD developer Mentor Graphics for $4.5 billion

As notes the Bloomberg agency, the transaction with Mentor Graphics will become the largest acquisition of Siemens since 2014 when the concern announced purchase of Dresser-Rand Group for $7.6 billion.

Mentor Graphics purchase cost not too high, analysts of Baader Helvea consider. According to them, the transaction will allow Siemens to increase the competitiveness in the market of industrial software.

Siemens calculates that merger of Mentor Graphics will pour out in an additional profit before interest and taxes more than in 100 million euros within four years from the moment of closing of the transaction which is planned on the second quarter 2017. At first the companies should get permissions from regulators.

Assets of Mentor Graphics will add a portfolio of industrial software of Siemens used for design, testing and modeling of the electrical and electronic systems, the board member of the German corporation Klaus Helmrich reported.

After a design of sale (development of IT solutions for production companies) which revenue according to the results of the financial year closed in September of the 2016th made 10.2 billion euros at the total turnover of concern in 79.6 billion euros will become Mentor Graphics a part of division of Siemens Digital Factory Division.[1]

2015: Revenue of $1.2 billion

According to the results of 2015 financial year which came to the end on January 31 the 2016th calendar revenue of Mentor Graphics made $1.2 billion, and the corrected operating profit margin — 20.2%. The number of employees of the company exceeded 5700. The network of the company contains more than 80 divisions worldwide, the headquarters is located in the city of Uilsonvill (Oregon, the USA).
