2017: Cisco buys MindMeld

On May 11, 2017 the Cisco corporation announced acquisition for $125 million a startup of MindMeld, engaged in development of advanced technologies in the field of the artificial intelligence (AI). It already the second acquisition of the American giant in May: at the beginning of a month Cisco announced purchase of Viptela company which specializes in development of the cloud program configured global networks (SD-WAN).

As note in Cisco, the unique MindMeld AI platform allows clients to create intelligent and humanoid dialogue interfaces for any application or the device. Thanks to machine learning the MindMeld platform allows to interact with voice assistants and chat-bots by means of the natural speech.

Cisco expects to use the patented developments of MindMeld for creation of new dialogue interfaces in the software products for joint work. In particular, it is about a flagman product line for unified communications and joint work of Cisco Spark, reports the CRN edition with reference to Cisco.

The transaction is going to be issued within the fourth financial quarter of Cisco which will last from May to July, 2017. On completion of formal procedures, on the basis of MindMeld the command on development of cognitive solutions for joint work which will be included into division of Cloud Collaboration Technology Group (CCTG) under the leadership of the senior vice president of Cisco of Jens Meggers will be created.

The working space of the future will be based on artificial intelligence technologies — Rowan Trollope, the senior vice president of Cisco for Internet of Things and applications (IoT and Applications Group) is convinced. — Integration of MindMeld into the Cisco Spark platform radically will change interaction of users in spaces of Spark Spaces, Cisco Spark Meetings and Cisco Spark Care.[1]
