The Penza CHPP-1 is combined heat and power plant of the city of Penza. Is a part of PJSC T Plus.

The set electric power — 385 MW.

History

In 1937 the decision on construction in Penza of combined heat and power plant with a power of 50 thousand kW was made. Design of combined heat and power plant as workshops of a velzavod of Frunze is begun in April, 1938. However because of tense world situation — war with Finland and military operations in Poland — the volume of construction was sharply reduced. By 1941 managed to lay only the foundation for the main building of combined heat and power plant.

For February 26, 2016 the Penza power supply system - steadily working in the integrated power system of the Volga region.

The heatgenerating capacities of the station provide 89% of deliveries of thermal energy for the population living in municipal housing stock.
