Business in Russia

In September 2009, QNAP Systems announced the opening of a representative office in Russia and the CIS countries. Cunep Rus Limited Liability Company was registered in the spring of 2009. Prior to this, the company founded in 2004, in addition to its headquarters in Taipei, had offices only in China and the USA. Until the beginning of 2009, QNAP had 2 Russian distributors: Bitech and Inprice, and starting in 2009, a third was added to them - Koodoo (formerly Boston).

As noted in QNAP, the Russian market occupies an important place in the company's development strategy. Turbo NAS network drives and video surveillance systems have been NVR/VioStor promoted in Russia since 2007. With the opening of the representative office, the company will open the prospects for creating new channels for product promotion and closer interaction with partners and customers in the capital and regions, QNAP expects. Among the company's priorities are to create and develop a partner network to promote QNAP products and solutions, conduct marketing campaigns and programs, training seminars, organize technical support and a network of service centers.

According to Shawn Shu, QNAP's vice president, the company expects to increase its share of the NAS (Network Attached Storage) market in those segments where it is currently present to 50% over the next 5 years. At the same time, the cost of products will be the same in all countries, regardless of duties or other state measures to regulate the market, Sean Shu emphasized. He also noted that at the moment the company's products are positioned as a premium class; and the company's market share will grow, primarily due to the attraction of a mass buyer.
