2018: Paul Montford is the new CEO of Riverbed

At the beginning of April, 2018 the Riverbed Technology company offering systems for performance improvement of corporate IT infrastructure announced change of the CEO. It appoints Paul Montford instead of the cofounder Gerry M. Kennelli ( Jerry M.  Kennelly) which will officially leave the company in April. Read more here.

2016

Aternity company takeover

On July 28, 2016 Riverbed Technology announced purchase of Aternity conducting solution provider for monitoring of interaction of the end user and performance control of applications. Acquisition will expand Riverbed SteelCentral product line for end-to-end visibility of performance management of network, applications and experience of the end user.

"Aternity is strategically important purchase for Riverbed company. Their innovation offer for monitoring of experience of the end user ideally supplements and expands our solutions of SteelCentral line — Gerry M. Kennelli, the chairman of the board of directors and the chief executive officer of Riverbed company comments on the transaction. — After increase in use of mobile devices, virtual desktops and clouds an opportunity to manage experience of the end user becomes more and more important and difficult task for IT departments. Thanks to this acquisition, Riverbed and our partners will have a unique opportunity to provide Chief information officers and the organizations with unobstructed sight of work of networks, applications and end users in one solution".

The checked Aternity technology helps the companies to see all process of interaction of users with each application started on any device, creating a point of the overview of application performance on behalf of the user. There is no this function in many more narrowly targeted instruments of monitoring of network performance or appendices which are had in the market. Transforming each device — physical, virtual and mobile — to the platform of self-monitoring which considers the user experience, the organizations have an opportunity of proactive control of the IT focused on needs of the end user which considerably reduces number of stops in work of business and increases productivity of employees.

This transaction supports the new direction of development of the solution Riverbed SteelCentral which was considerably recently is improved in the field of cloud monitoring of performance of applications and equipped with the new features allowing to accelerate accomplishment of business processes and to increase productivity of work.

It was expected that acquisition of Aternity will be complete in August, 2016. Financial terms of transaction are not disclosed.

Merger of Ocedo

In January, 2016 Riverbed purchased Ocedo company which allowed to bring in April to the market the solution for SD-WAN (software-defined WAN network) considering specific features of applications — SteelConnect.

SteelCentral changes the mode of work of IT departments, providing them with the technologies of performance management of network presented in one solution and helps to improve visibility of delivery of applications, to detect and correct problems before they affect work of end users and performance of business.

2014: Thoma Bravo и Teachers' Private Capital купили Riverbed

In December, 214 the Riverbed Technology company announced Thoma Bravo acquisition, private investment fund, and Teachers' Private Capital, investment division of the Pension fund of teachers of Ontario. Under the terms of the agreement shareholders of Riverbed company will encash 21 dollars for the stock that in total makes $3.6 billion. The agreement was unanimously accepted council of directors of the company of Riverbed after the comprehensive analysis of the strategic and finance alternative decisions published by the company in October, 2014.

The chief executive of Riverbed company Gerry Kennelli will remain in the company in the same position. The transaction which is supposed to be completed in the first half of 2015 should be approved by shareholders of Riverbed, is approved by regulatory authorities, including antimonopoly checks in the USA, Germany and Taiwan, it is necessary to undergo testing and to get approval of Committee of foreign investments into the USA and to satisfy other commonly accepted conditions of closing of the transaction. There are no financial restrictions connected with the offered agreement.

In the spring of 2015 the private investment fund Thoma Bravo and investment division of the Pension fund of teachers of Ontario (Teachers' Private Capital) signed the final agreement about acquisition of Riverbed Technology company, the leader in the field of implementation and support of infrastructure of application performance management. The cost of the transaction was about 3.5 billion US dollars. Each of shareholders of Riverbed company will encash 21 dollars for the stock. Due to the closing of the transaction the Riverbed company stopped the stock trading at the NASDAQ exchange under the exchange RVBD code.
