The South Korean company Robostar founded in 1999 specializes in creation of robots who are used by production of semiconductor products and cars.

History

2018: LG was purchased by Robostar

In July, 2018 announced LG Electronics Robostar purchase. Thereby the South Korean producer of consumer electronics continued to invest in robotics actively .

Under the terms of the agreement, LG received 30% of shares of Robostar, and by the end of 2019 the share will grow to 33.4%. For 53.6 million wons ($47.6 million) 1.95 million ordinary shares were purchased. Besides, LG purchased the securities belonging to the management of Robostar, but the cost of this part of the transaction did not open.

Purchased LG Electronics the producer of industrial robots

LG is going to apply Robostar technologies to development of the "smart" factories having high extent of industrial automation.

LG takes active steps for expansion of the presence at the industry of robots. In 2017 LG started in the territory of the international airport Incheon in the test mode several robots. One of them — the robot guide plying on the airport building for providing information and the help to passengers, and the second — the robot cleaner helping to keep floors of halls clean.

In June, 2018 for the first time invested LG in a foreign robotic startup. In the American company Bossa Nova Robotics known on cooperation with the world's largest riteleyr of Walmart (delivers for it the robots intended for control and management of trade inventories), $3 million were invested.

Besides, invested LG in several South Korean robotic startups, such as SG Robotics, Robotis and Acryl. Due to cooperation with similar companies LG expects to accelerate development of new robotic solutions using artificial intelligence and pilotless technologies.[1]
