History

2017: Arris buys Ruckus

On December 1, 2017 the transaction on sale of Ruckus Wireless of Arris International company was closed. The equipment manufacturer for wireless networks is sold twice cheaper, than Brocade in 2016 for $1.5 billion was purchased.

In February, 2017 Arris agreed about acquisition of Ruckus for $800 million. In addition to Ruckus, the transaction includes the assets connected with switches of the Brocade ICX family.

Arris says that the company, having purchased Ruckus, strengthened the leading positions to the sphere of wire and wireless network technologies: both to the house, and addressed segments of education, public spaces, the enterprises, hotel business and medicine.

Within Arris business division which focused on the wire and wireless technologies executing requests of the different vertical markets was created. The structure under the name Arris Enterprise Networks was headed by the former operating officer of Ruckus Dan Rabinovitsj. Passed all personnel of Ruckus (about 1700 employees) into the structure of Arris Enterprise Networks.

The Ruckus brand remained in the market, however it will move ahead not as Ruckus Wireless, and as Ruckus Networks.

According to the top manager, Ruckus is integrated with the big and stable company which has a huge investment potential and ambitions. The united company will increase expenses on the solutions IaaS, CBRS and OpenG LTE, Rabinovich added.

Closing of the transaction on sale of Ruckus of Arris company was initial is planned for August-September, 2017, however there was a delay because merge of Brocade and Broadcom was issued with delay concerning the stated terms.[1]

2016: Sale to Brocade company

At the beginning of April, 2016 the decision maker for infrastructure management of storage systems and data processing announced Brocade Communications Systems purchase of Ruckus Wireless for $1.5 billion.

The transaction price of an equivalent is $14.43 for the stock Ruckus that is 44% more than the cost of securities to closing of the exchange on April 1, 2016. On April 4 the stocks Ruckus rose in price up to $13.24 apiece, and quotations, Brocade, on the contrary, noticeably dropped — almost by 14%, The Wall Street Journal tells.

Brocade buys the developer of the equipment of wireless communication Ruckus for $1.5 billion

As a result of Ruckus sale shareholders of this company will encash $6.45 and 0.75 ordinary shares Brocade for each security belonging to them. The cost of the transaction can fluctuate before its closing planned for the third quarter 2016, said in a joint statement of the companies.

Net proceeds of money from sale of Ruckus are estimated at $1.2 billion. The CEO of Ruckus Selina Lo it will be necessary to direct this company as a part of Brocade and will submit to the head last Lloyd Carney.

The operating officer of Ruckus Dan Rabinovitsj said that his company did not aim at sale, however the Board of Directors positively reacted to the offer of Brocade.

Lloyd Carney was recognized that on acquisition of Ruckus he was pushed by two large merges in the market of the equipment for wireless local area networks: merger of Meraki by Cisco corporation for $1.2 billion in 2012 and Aruba Networks purchase by Hewlett-Packard company for $3 billion in the 2015th. Having purchased Ruckus, Brocade will be able to compete with Cisco and Hewlett-Packard, without being afraid of the fact that partners on behalf of IBM and Dell sell the competing computing solutions and storage systems, Carney reported.[2]

Ruckus technologies support the high range of communication. In adaptive arrays modern methods of management of signals which allow to avoid radio interferences automatically are used. From real time of the antenna select the best signal path for each session of the Wi-fi broadcast, i.e. set the best possible connection.

2012: Start of sales in Russia

BeamFlex technology

Main advantage of Ruckus Wireless is that the company successfully solves problems of Wi-fi of an interference (radio interferences) and a covering in places of big accumulation of users with difficult radio Wednesday, using dynamic antenna systems under the name BeamFlex.

  • BeamFlex allows to reduce interference level when receiving a signal from the user and respectively can hear better users with a poor signal. The antenna system is made of several individual directed antenna elements with high gain amount.

  • Thanks to adaptive antennas from several elements, there is a formation of a directed beam of a radio signal towards the user. Energy of the antenna is focused in the direction of the user and as the result occurs considerable signal multiplication on the user's antenna, performance improvement (the signal level is higher, the data exchange rate is more) and, at last, is provided serious increase in a coverage of access point.
  • The software of access point uses necessary elements of the antenna for formation of the necessary direction characteristic in real time for each separate packet and on some points more than 4000 unique configurations of antennas are supported. It allows to receive more considerable signal multiplication in comparison with traditional MIMO devices and that is especially important, it gives the chance to a point in real time to react to movement of the user and change of radio of a situation, providing reliable and stable connection.

As the signal is focused towards the user, influence on the devices located nearby as a result is sharply reduced and the negative impact from multibeam distribution decreases.

  • The SmartCast technology of management of traffic includes the advanced mechanism of buffering. It provides four selected queues for each user of a wireless network (for comparison standard 802.11e uses from 4 to 8 queues for all network). SmartCast is the expansion of standard 802.11e which is specially optimized for work with voice, video and data. From SmartCast the user of a wireless network can receive at the same time stream video, conduct search in the Internet, use Skype for voice connections, at the same time all traffic will be prioritized individually and correctly.
  • SmartMesh considerably reduces the implementation cost of a wireless network, without requiring a cable eyeliner to each access point, and a bigger covering of our points, requires less devices.
  • ZoneConnect using the patented mechanism of setup of clients of a wireless network Zero-IT and the dynamic general Dynamic PSK keys, allows to simplify process of connection of users to network and to raise the security level.
  • The technology of dynamic general keys allows to select automatically for each user an individual 63-bit key and to automatically make setup of connection of a wireless network on the user's device. It excludes need of manual adjustment of the general key on each device and raises the security level since each user receives the individual key.
  • The software package FlexMaster with the multi-user interface allows to manage and monitor big and territorially spaced wireless networks.
