Development of lasers for fight against cancer

On October 5, 2016 Rostec announced that the Ruselectronics holding entering into state corporation develops lasers for fight against cancer. The new technology will be applied not only in medicine.

It is about lasers of infrared range (2–5 microns) of quantum and cascade type which are going to be used for increase in accuracy of diagnosis of diseases and also for selective destruction of cells of cancer tumors and when healing wounds.

Quantum and cascade lasers are the layered heterostructures consisting of active areas in which there is a radiation of photons, and injection areas through which carriers fly by to the following active area.

The head of Ruselectronics Igor Kozlov says that the holding did not decide on the directions of development of new lasers yet
The head of Ruselectronics Igor Kozlov says that the holding did not decide on the directions of development of new lasers yet

Rostec notes that effective continuous work of IR lasers at the room temperature is prevented by strong dominance of processes of a nonradiative recombination of nonequilibrium carriers over process of a radiating recombination. Besides, in IR lasers the losses of energy connected with intraband absorption of radiation are big.

In attempt to solve these problems Ruselectronics creates quantum and cascade lasers on intersubzonal transitions and lasers on interzonal transitions on the basis of semiconductor heterostructures with quantum holes and supergrids.

In addition to health care, new lasers can find application in optic and space communication, molecular spectrum analysis of high resolution, highly sensitive spectrum gas analysis, in particular in volcanology, at control of emissions in the atmosphere and the fast-proceeding technology processes.

The CEO of Ruselectronics Igor Kozlov reported what by October, 2016 the holding selects in what applied direction it is worth developing this technology. Also he noted that to speak about terms of an exit of development still prematurely.

Ruselectronics by 2019 will integrate the enterprises in 7 integrated structures

Ruselectronics (enters into State Corporation Rostec) plans during the restructuring program by the end of 2018 to integrate most the enterprises in seven integrated structures. Each company will pass to the single share, the CEO of Ruselectronics Igor Kozlov[2] reported[3].

"We are going to implement the program taking into account duration of a legal design during few years, by the end of 2018", - he told during the press conference which took place on Thursday at the central office of Interfax. At the same time Igor Kozlov did not exclude that in the long term process of consolidation in holding will be continued.

According to him, based on Ruselectronics the Moscow enterprises in the field of production of a very high frequency technologies (NPP Pulsar and "The state plant "Pulsar"), certification and microelectronics (scientific research institute of the microelectronic Progress equipment) and also the enterprises of holding occupied with production of special materials (Moscow "Spetsmagnit", St. Petersburg "Ferrit-Domen", Krasnoyarsk Germany) will be joint. In total in the united company it is going to include 21 enterprises of holding with total sales at the end of 2015 of 14.3 billion rubles I. Kozlov reported that in 2016 the predicted level of revenue of consolidation is 15.9 billion rubles, a target indicator of 2020 – more than 23 billion rubles.

The second integrated structure will be created based on NPP Istok of A.I. Shokin (Fryazino, the Moscow Region). The total amount of revenue of the integrated enterprises in 2015 was 13.5 billion rubles, the forecast of 2016 – 15.3 billion rubles, 2020 – more than 22 billion rubles.

The Saratov NPP Almaz will merge the assets of Ruselectronics located in regions of the Volga region with a total amount of revenue in 2015 of 4 billion rubles, the forecast for 2016 4.3 billion rubles, 2020 more than 6 billion rubles.

The Omsk scientific research institute of instrument making will integrate the enterprises for production of signal equipment with the total amount of revenue in 2015 of 7.3 billion rubles, the forecast of 2016 of 7.5 billion rubles, 2020 about 11 billion rubles.

St. Petersburg the scientific research institute of television will become head enterprise of Ruselectronics in the field of photoelectronic devices and means of information display. The total revenue of the integrated enterprises in 2015 of 2.1 billion rubles, the forecast of 2016 of 2.6 billion rubles, 2020 about 3 billion rubles.

I. Kozlov explained that now work on search of the most effective form of government as many assets of holding is continued. According to I. Kozlov, in the course of restructuring the holding expects to reduce administrative costs approximately by 20-25%. It is expected that about 297 thousand sq.m of the production and administrative areas will be released.

For the purpose of assessment of production capabilities and formation of specific investment projects of upgrade Ruselectronics started carrying out internal technology audit. The holding started formation centralized R&D-центра to which fund it is going to send about 1.5% of revenue. "If to consider from the consolidated revenue of the created clusters, then there are about 7.5 billion rubles a year", - I. Kozlov noted.

The Ruselectronics is going to enter the market of protective tags

The enterprises of holding developed several production technologies of protective tags. In particular, in Ruselectronics tags on the basis of a bacteriorhodopsin – photosensitive protein of galobakteriya which is an analog of a visual rodopsin are created.

The bacteriorhodopsin-containing films save fotokhromny properties more than 17 years of storage at a daylight and temperatures from -40 °C to +40 °C. For the guaranteed identification of authenticity of products more than 6 different characteristics of a bacteriorhodopsin can be used. At the same time synthesis of protein is so difficult technology process that excludes its receiving out of specialized production and, as a result, - counterfeit of tags.

The weight of a tag does not exceed 5 mkg, diameter – 3 mm, thickness – 3 microns. However, the product can be reconfigured under specific objectives of the customer.

Functional material of tags passed the examination in the different international organizations, including, Munichinnovative Biomaterials GmbH (Germany), Labor für chemische und Inneraum-Analyzen (Austria), Institute of Plant Genetic Recourses (The central institute for Eastern Europe), the National center for infectious and parasitic diseases (Bulgaria). Experts confirmed high technical characteristics of material and lack of environmental problems and restrictions at its use.

"It is the only technology of this sort in Russia. Its products are reliable, universal and ecologically net throughout all cycle", - I. Kozlov noted.

Specialists of Ruselectronics also developed small-size wearable (400 gr) and the built-in devices of determination of authenticity of tags.

Protective tags can be applied to marking of a wide range of products: excise stamps, tickets, securities and also any component parts. The world market of tags is estimated at several hundred millions of euros.

The head of Ruselectronics Igor Kozlov reported that the holding is interested in cooperation with national operators of services in the field of health care

According to him, Ruselectronics has an extensive solution portfolio from the different directions of medicine: oncology, ophthalmology, hematology, cardiology and cardiovascular surgery and also urgent medicine.  At the same time it is as about devices of the average level of complexity, and the hi-tech complex equipment.

«
In some cases the market piece, for example, installations for stereotaksichesky radio surgery of pathologies of a brain — here not to do us without the state as uniform customer. But our developments of devices for blood test or an antiglare nanocovering of the tool have the broadest application — from obstetrics to surgery — and are many times cheaper than import analogs, at the same time often have the best characteristics — the head of Ruselectronics noted.
»

He considers that a problem is the absence of the industry integrator capable to connect research, design, production capabilities of Ruselectronics and requirement of medical clinics in a uniform technology chain. The holding needs the partner who will undertake logistic and financial functions, Igor Kozlov added.

At the "Defense Industry Complex of Russia — New Opportunities for the Medical Industry" exhibition (will take place on July 1, 2016 in Tula) Ruselectronics will show a number of new medical developments among which — devices for visualization of a hypodermic venous blood-groove and for ultrasonic diagnostics and therapy of new growths of dairy and thyroid glands, suits for personnel from the radio absorbing and radio shielding materials, the equipment for early diagnosis of glaucoma and the mobile device reader for work with the immunochemical test systems.

On triple substitution of import component base five years are required

In June it became known of plans of Ruselectronics holding by 2021 to increase a share of substitution of the import electronic and component base (ECB) in the Russian market more than by 3 times – up to 70%.

«
Today import substitution is in the sector of EKB at the level of 20%. The holding aims to increase production not of normal components, but the so-called "critical base" ensuring reliability and safety of functioning of the national electronic systems. It does not make special sense manufacture normal condensers or resistors in Russia today - it is the mass goods which are not containing unique technologies. And here the radiation resistant base – yes, coherent processors, a domestic operating mobile system – yes, because is a national security issue. Level of localization of domestic production on radiation resistant and critical base by 21 year will be, I think, around 70%.

The head of holding put 10 years on perspective of development of domestic electronic industry. During this time, according to him, it will become competitive on all indicators and will take the worthy place in the world market.

Kozlov considers, Russia received an own backlog - the Russian Federation, did not touch the Soviet Union on which long lived. Also there are people who are able to implement this backlog. Time for concentration of efforts is required to transfer this backlog to the practical plane.

«
Dynamics of the industry does not mean single-step momentary victories. It is big system work for which it is necessary to spend time and efforts.
