The Russian International Olympic University is founded on October 21, 2009 according to the Memorandum of understanding between the International Olympic Committee, the Organizing committee of Sochi 2014 and Olympic Committee of Russia and also the order of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 774.
Founders: Ministry of Sport of the Russian Federation, Olympic Committee of Russia and Interros group. The board of trustees of RMOU is headed by the Russian President Vladimir Putin. Activity of the university is focused on training of highly qualified specialists in the field of sports management for the Russian and world industry of sport, the Olympic and Paralympic Movement. The main educational product is the annual program MSA ("The master of sports administration"). RMOU – the main humanitarian heritage of the Olympic Games in Sochi.
