Russian center of protection of the wood (Roslesozashchit)
The history of formation of FBU "Roslesozashchita" begins with the government decree of 1938 about creation of a lesopatologichesky expedition at All-Union forest management office "Lesproyekt". Functions of supervision of emergence of dangerous types of wreckers and diseases and the organization of fight against them were assigned to it.
The Russian center of protection of the wood was organized in 1998 based on the Moscow specialized expedition Vniitslesresurs. In March, 2001 it was reorganized by the order of the Ministry of natural resources of the Russian Federation into "Russian Center of Protection of the Wood" Federal state institution. At the same time the centers of protection of the wood existing in the Russian subjects were transferred to the structure of the organization as branches.
As of 2012. "The Russian center of protection of the wood" (Roslesozashchit) incorporates 42 regional centers of protection of the wood and several other separate divisions.

- Radiation monitoring of the woods;
- Forest genetics;
- Quality evaluation of seeds of forest plants;
- Formation and storage of federal fund of seeds of forest plants.
