SimpliVity releases the hyper convergent "data center in one device" on x86 platform combining computing powers, storage system and data transmissions with the built-in functions of deduplication, a compression, backup, replication, optimization of WAN and uniform management, allowing to reduce the cost of ownership of IT infrastructure to 3 times. The modular architecture supports horizontal and vertical (Scale In/Scale Out) scaling for creation of target configurations. The solutions SimpliVity do not require separate management tools as all HSS settings are performed in the VMware vCenter interface.

The headquarters of SimpliVity is in the city of Vestborough, State of Massachusetts. By the beginning of 2017 the company attracted investments for 276 million dollars and has 750 employees around the world. The business model of SimpliVity is guided by indirect sales channels: solutions and professional services of the company extend in the different countries through network of sellers and distributors.

Scopes of the solution can be integrated in several main groups: consolidation of data centers, work with crucial applications, virtualization of jobs (VDI), cloud computing, testing and software development, continuous monitoring of data and analyst and some other. The vendor also offers a system for implementation in the filial and distributed structures as transfer of initially optimized traffic improves possibilities of data exchange, at the same time the additional solution will not be required to purchase the organizations.

According to Forrester, SimpliVity offers a broad set of opportunities on data management in georaspredelenny environments, thanks to architecture with global deduplication. Including a complex set of opportunities for backup, deduplication, creation of instant pictures and cloning with replication of data between platforms and also postdisaster recovery with optimization of communication channels of WAN.

Business in Russia

In the Russian market the hyper convergent infrastructure SimpliVity platform is available both in the form of the independent product OmniCube, and in the form of integrated solution of OmniStack with the Cisco UCS and Lenovo System x servers.

History

2017: HPE buys SimpliVity for $650 million

On January 17, 2017 the American producer of IT solutions Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) announced SimpliVity purchase. The cost of sale of equipment manufacturer for data centers was six times less than the amount which the mass media which learned earlier about the transaction reported.

HPE will pay about $650 million own means for SimpliVity acquisition. According to the results of a financing round which passed in March, 2015 the startup attracted more than $275 million investments and was estimated more than at $1 billion. In November, 2016 the The Register edition attributed to HPE plans to purchase SimpliVity approximately for $3.8-3.9 billion.

Near HPE headquarters

It is going to close the transaction on merger of SimpliVity by HPE company in February, 2017. HPE calculates that this acquisition will increase the profit of the company according to the results of the first financial year after accomplishment of all formalities concerning this transaction.

HPE intends to sell the ProLiant DL380 servers with the software of SimpliVity. Besides, in the second half of 2017 in the market there have to be integrated hyper convergent HPE SimpliVity systems constructed on the HPE ProLiant servers.

According to analysts of Gartner, in 2015 SimpliVity revenue from sales of the integrated systems for data centers jumped by 110.7% that is the highest rate of growth among leaders of this market. The second place on dynamics was taken by Nutanix with 77.4 indicator of rise.
