History

2023

Turkey Market Entry

It took about a year to enter the Turkish market. The domestic developer began to discuss the terms of cooperation with partners at the end of 2021, and from the beginning of 2022, registration of a local legal entity and the Nanogoz trademark began for local promotion. Additionally, the compatibility of the infrastructure with local solutions was improved and the interface was localized.

The threat of leaks of confidential information is relevant not only in Russia, but throughout the world. Our solution prevents the capture and transfer of sensitive data by company employees - the system recognizes attempts to copy, photograph or forward it, and notifies managers of the incident. The creation of Nanogoz was a strategic decision - the Turkish brand allows you to promote the product not only in the MENA market, but also opens up access to European countries, "explained Alexander Kanatov, Operating Director of Stakhanovets.

Over the year, the personnel monitoring system was introduced in 20 companies and by the end of the year their number is planned to be increased to 35 with installation on 2500 devices. Among the customers are government agencies, SMEs and Enterprise.

The company's solutions are already used in more than 5,000 organizations around the world. Among the features in demand are an intelligent analytics system to prevent employee burnout, and Antifoto, which blocks attempts to take a screen photo with valuable information. Meanwhile, Stakhanovets plans to continue expansion and the next region is considering Latin America.

In early 2022, the Russian IT solutions market changed fundamentally. Cybersecurity, information security and data protection have become the number one need for business and the state, - comments Alexander Kanatov, Operating Director of Stakhanovets. - Confidential data leaks can lead to litigation and serious financial losses, they deprive you of competitive advantages and damage business reputation. Misuse of working hours and a decrease in employee loyalty have a negative impact on the work of the entire company. We strive to provide information and economic security to both companies that use our solution and users of the services and products of these companies.

The goal of the project is to finalize and commercialize the Stakhanovets: Missile Defense software complex - as part of finalizing the solution, the developers will integrate the software with domestic DBMS, providing an analysis of personnel security risks, and making the solution interface easier and clearer.

The Development-NTI program of the Innovation Assistance Fund started in 2016. The National Technology Initiative is a long-term comprehensive program to create conditions for ensuring the leadership of Russian companies in new high-tech markets, which will determine the structure of the global economy in the next 15-20 years.

"Stakhanovets" kicked out of Ukraine "for ties with the FSB." Director in shock

On April 26, 2017, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) reported that its employees conducted searches and seized computer equipment in eight companies that used and implemented "Russian spy software" with hidden functions of access to various information[1]. In total, according to the SBU, more than 1,000 licenses of such software were used on the computers of these companies.

Among the organizations where the searches took place were the largest investment company of Ukraine Dragon Capital and the largest Ukrainian producer of natural gas and gas condensate Ukrgazdobycha.

A day later, at a briefing, the head of the staff of the SBU chairman, Alexander Tkachuk, said that we are talking about the Russian software product Stakhanovets. The SBU says that it allows, without the owner's knowledge, to control remotely everything that is processed on his computer and upload the information received to the servers that are located in Russia[2]Among the capabilities of the program in the SBU are also called remote activation of microphones and webcams of computers.

We have clear evidence that the company, which is the developer of this software product, is cooperating with the FSB of the Russian Federation, Tkachuk said at a briefing.

In 2016, the use of this product in Ukraine was prohibited due to the fact that it was recognized as a special technical tool, Tkachuk added.

The Criminal Code of Ukraine provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of 3 to 7 years for "illegal use of special technical means of secretly obtaining information," including if these actions "were repeated, by prior conspiracy by a group of persons or an organized group."

According to the SBU, a total of about 300 companies use Stakhanovets software in Ukraine as of spring 2017.

Developer reaction

Nikita Rogozin, executive director of Stakhanovets, calls the SBU's statements about his company's cooperation with the FSB nonsense: "Over the past ten years, I have not seen a single FSB officer."

In addition, he told TAdviser, the company does not have a tool that allows you to transfer something somewhere. The Ukrainian security forces do not provide any results of examinations, no evidence indicating the presence of the software capabilities they claim. Rogozin says his company is ready to disclose the source codes of the product for examinations.

Nikita Rogozin denies all accusations of the SBU

According to him, the architecture of the Stakhanovets software does not allow it to transfer data outside the perimeter of the organization where it is used. If the decision gave out some traffic outside, any company that has a firewall would notice this, and no one would buy such a product, Rogozin explains.

Unlike many other products, in Stakhanovets, the developer himself cannot even initiate a software update - it can only be performed internally by a user with administrator access rights. Similar access rights are needed for the initial installation of the product, so it will not be possible to secretly install it in the company, added Nikita Rogozin.

File:Aquote1.png
Products intended for such a subject area as personnel control a priori must be protected from any outward output of information. Otherwise, these are colossal reputational risks for the vendor and risks of information and economic security. This approach is typical for the products of our sector as a whole, both for Russian and for world developers, - said Rogozin in a conversation with TAdviser.
File:Aquote2.png

He added that one of the functions of the product is to identify the risk of information leakage from the company.

According to Nikita Rogozin, before the SBU came to the offices of Ukrainian customers of the Stakhanovets software, the security officers "visited" the office of Stakhanovets itself, which focused on sales and product support. Searches, seizure of equipment and detention of Ukrainian employees of the company took place in 2016. Rogozin says that in addition to the office, security guards went to the homes of Stakhanovets employees, seizing equipment. The employees were accused of spying for Russia.

In addition to the developer himself, the SBU went with searches and to his local partners who sold the software. Rogozin suggests that it was the security forces who took out the lists of clients, which they then decided to go through. We chose the most iconic clients, he said.

Hostages of politics

Rogozin considers the political factor to be one of the real reasons for inspections and searches. When unfriendly relations were established between Russia and Ukraine, the SBU began to conduct inspections in many companies that are associated with Russia, he says. On this wave, Stakhanovets also fell under the distribution.

File:Aquote1.png
There is a deep internal political game that we got into. Our company does not have the scale so that we can come under attack, so that the head of the SBU says that we are organizing a spy network, - said the representative of Stakhanovets.
File:Aquote2.png

In some cases, a commercial factor may also be present. For example, in the case of Dragon Capital. The general director of this company, Tomas Fiala, told Economic Pravda that the real reason for the search in Dragon Capital may be the desire to put pressure on him to purchase shares in the Sky Mall shopping and entertainment center located in Kyiv.

In the same boat with colleagues

Stakhanovets is not the only software company associated with Russia that the SBU has taken up. According to TAdviser, earlier security officials also came to the Ukrainian offices of companies Atom Security,,. SearchInform NetworkProfi

On April 27, the SBU also reported on the "exposure" of the Kyiv commercial structure engaged in the "illegal sale of the software product of the Russian company" 1C "in the territories of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics (DPR and LPR)[3]The security forces called for caution in the use of Russian 1C programs.

Closing of the Ukrainian office

Nikita Rogozin told TAdviser that in November 2016, representatives of the SBU began to come to the Ukrainian office and home to the Stakhanovets employees with searches and seize equipment. The employees were accused of spying for Russia.

After this persecution began, the company was forced to disband its local office. The pressure from the Ukrainian security officials was so serious that it was necessary to do this, he explained.

Increase in Softline's share in the company

According to the Kontur.Fokus database, in June 2016 Softline gained control of the company, increasing its share to 51%.

2014: Softline Seed Fund invests in Stakhanovets project
