Being independent the company made the equipment for a video conferencing (VIDEOCONFERENCING) of high definition, solutions of telepresence and mobile systems of video conference. At the company two headquarters worked: in New York and Oslo. Also the company created the equipment and the software for audio-, video conference and data transmission. Was engaged in delivery and hardware maintenance for video conference more than in 90 countries of the world. Stocks of TANDBERG company officially were quoted on the Norwegian stock exchange.

In 2009 Marthin De Beer predicted End of the Word (the fast end of text information) as on the Internet the era of video technologies approaches: by 2013 90 percent of all Internet traffic – and about a half of mobile traffic – will make video records. In Cisco of video it is already used that is called to the full extent. The vast majority of offices Cisco is equipped with the Cisco TelePresence systems, and due to their use for the previous four years the company saved 753 million dollars whereas profit on performance improvement of work of staff of Cisco exceeded 280 million dollars on sharp reduction of office trips. At offices Tandberg there are no phones at all – for communication with each other employees use only video conference.

One of the last developments of Tandberg as independent company – MOVI video technology allowed to hold in December, 2010 in St. Petersburg a press conference with participation of the curator of incubatory projects of Cisco Christopher Thompson who at that moment was in San Jose (State of California). Nevertheless the St. Petersburg journalists communicated more than an hour with it using MOVI allowing to transmit over any distance an audio-and high-quality video information. And week earlier at the initiative of Embassy of France in the Russian Federation within the French-Russian scientific experiment on fight against Alzheimer's disease the virtual chess tournament first in the history with participation of players was organized 60 years are more senior. According to doctor Benoit Lavar from the Commission on fight against Alzheimer's disease at the President of the French Republic, "the made experiment became an important step in promotion of active lifestyle among elderly people, cooperation of the Russian and French scientists and use of the innovative technologies for the solution of the major social tasks", and we are proud of the fact that such experiment became possible thanks to use of Cisco TelePresence technology.

In December, 2009 the American company Cisco Systems became the owner of 91.1% of stocks of Tandberg. The transaction cost the buyer 19 billion Norwegian kroner ($3.3 billion).
