2018: Fitbit buys Twine Health

On February 13, 2018 the producer of fitness trackers and the Fitbit smartwatch announced purchase of the American startup of Twine Health. The transaction which cost is not disclosed will promote further expansion of presence of Fitbit at a health care segment.[1]

Commenting on news about the transaction, the head of Fitbit James Park noted impressive results of Twine Health in respect of the help to patients with chronic diseases, such as diabetes and hypertension that is of great interest to Fitbit. Having integrated Twine practices with the experience in the field of maintenance of health, Fitbit expects to help specialists of health sector to improve customer service out of walls of clinics that should promote increase in efficiency of treatment and expense reduction on medicine.

In the long term Fitbit is going to make available advantages of the Twine platform to users of the wearable devices and also to expand possibilities of the application, having covered bigger number of diseases, MobiHealthNews tells.

Within the agreement of Twine Health signed by the companies, founded in 2013, will be a part of division of Health Solutions group. Besides, the head of the company doctor John Moore who was earlier working in the American research laboratory MIT Media Lab will pass into Fitbit to a position of the medical director.[2]
