2014: Unify communication frameworks

For the beginning of 2014 Unify concentrates on development of universal communications, i.e. consolidation within the enterprise of all communication links, devices and applications. The current development is called Project Ansible, its first components should appear in the market in 2014. The platform will be available according to the scheme of lease (SaaS). To this Siemens Enterprise Communications developed the similar OpenScape family.

2015: Unify is sold to Atos for 590 million euros

At the beginning of November, 2015 Atos announced Unify purchase more than for half a billion euro. Thanks to this absorption the large system integrator expects to strengthen the business in the field of corporate telephony.

According to terms of agreement, Atos buys from Gores Group and Siemens of 100% of stocks Unify and will pay for them about 340 million euros cash. Besides, the French company will undertake a net debt of Unify in the amount of 50 million euros and pension liabilities for 200 million euros. Thus, the cost of business of Unify was estimated by the buyer at 590 million euros.

The supplier of corporate telephony of Unify is sold to Atos for 590 million euros

Within this transaction of Atos she intends to create "the unique integrated project for unified communications and opportunities for expansion of social interaction in real time, digital conversions and business performance of clients".

"They look for complete service solutions for the digital portfolios and the reliable partner who could service their requirements from beginning to end. Still regulators should approve Unify purchase by Atos company. In case of lack of any obstacles in a way to execution of the transaction it is going to be closed in the first quarter 2016.

Along with the declaration of acquisition of Unify the Atos company announced that 12% of its stocks will remain with Siemens till 2020. The companies began close cooperation in 2011 when Atos purchased division of Siemens IT Solutions for 850 million euros.[1]

2014: Unify reduces personnel by 3800 people from 7700 employees

The Unify company at the global level announced on June 3, 2014 steps of conversions which problem will be an adaptation to quickly changing market conditions of unified communications and satisfaction of the increasing needs of modern users for the program focused products. Plans provide restructuring of the company at the global level, transition to the multilevel strategy of an output of products to the market and consolidation of divisions of Unify worldwide, including future location of the headquarters of the company. The total quantity of personnel should be reduced approximately by 3800 people (from about 7700 employees worldwide). At the same time 50% of reductions is necessary to Central Europe.

2013: Renaming of the company into Unify

The Siemens Enterprise Communications company in October, 2013 at the global level announced the new name - Unify. On an explanation of the company - emergence of Unify – the response to changes which happen in the field of corporate communications under the influence of a number of trends, such as personalisation of information technologies, implementation in corporate practice of the concept of BYOD ("bring your own device"), general mobility of employees ("anywhere workers"), increase in the importance of team work. These and other factors radically change usual methods of interaction of employees and set new tasks for developers of products and services for corporate communications.

Representation of a new brand was preceded by active development of the company in different spheres: marketing, product, ideological. The company began the first conversions in response to new realities of the market in 2011 under the slogan "The Shortest Way to Unified Communications". Next step, concept "amplifyTEAMS: increase in efficiency of team work", it was announced at the end of 2012. The company essentially changed criterion of efficiency of the work, having displaced focus from the number of ports to the interests of end users. Ansible project development – platforms for communication and joint work designed to erase borders between numerous sources of information and business applications became a new round of evolution. The first draft of the platform was for the first time submitted to the market in June, 2013 and was highly appreciated from customers, analysts and partners of the company.

Ansible task – to integrate all available communication resources of the enterprise, from infrastructure to social networks, having provided to employees the most convenient and easy way of communication. In its basis experience of users, specifics of their work and preference of these or those means of communication is put. Emergence in the market of the first Ansible components is expected in 2014. At first the platform will be available in the form of the software as service from a cloud (SaaS) and will become for customers logical addition to already installed solutions of the OpenScape family and also to alternative communications systems.

Unify completely saves structure of property, organizational and managerial structures, the current solution portfolio, the nomenclature of products. The company organized rebranding process so that to make it the most comfortable for customers. Specifics of contracts, the system of service maintenance, the structure of project teams and bank details remain invariable.

2009: Revenue of 3.21 billion euros

2008: The American The Gores Group redeems 51% of the company

On July 29, 2008 The Gores Group redeemed 51% in Siemens Enterprise Communications. As a part of a payment for this asset in the amount of $550 million Gores Group transferred the Enterasys and SER Solutions companies belonging to it. 49% remained at the German Siemens AG.
