The Ural institute of management — branch of Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (UIU RANEPA) — a higher educational institution in Yekaterinburg. Before reorganization in 2010 the institute was called the Ural academy of public service.

On June 26, 1956 the Central Committee of the CPSU adopted the resolution "About Measures for Further Improvement of Preparation of the Leading Party and Soviet Personnel" according to which in Sverdlovsk based on three-year party school the Sverdlovsk higher party school with the four-year term of training which existed till 1963, and again recreated in 1968 was created.

In May, 1991 the Sverdlovsk higher party school was renamed into the Ural socio-political institute

In 1992 based on faculty of advanced training the institute of advanced training of the public and municipal servants of URAGS where in five years according to special educational programs had training of 15 thousand people is created.

On April 26, 1995 the Ural personnel center was transformed to the Ural academy of public service.

On September 23, 2010 there was an order of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 1562-r. according to which the Ural academy of public service as a result of reorganization by accession was a part of a RANEPA under the President of the Russian Federation as the Ural institute - RANEPA branch
