Ustream is provider of cloud services for video broadcasts of any actions – from corporate reports before live broadcasts from concerts. Both large enterprises, and the broadcasting companies use company services. Ustream provides services of video broadcasting and start of video on demand for 80 million viewers a month. Among clients of the company: NASA, Samsung, Facebook, Nike and Discovery Channel TV channel.

Video became one of the most important methods of customer interaction and the staff of the companies, thanks to availability of big set of multimedia tools, such as online broadcastings, trainings and educational webinars, customer services, video selections with a practical advice, etc. Demand for a safe, scalable and open cloud solution for management of video services results.

2016: IBM purchased service for video broadcasts of Ustream

On January 22, 2016 IBM announced acquisition of Ustream company, provider of cloud services for videotraslyation. This step will allow to expand possibilities of the IBM Cloud platform using which corporate customers will have an opportunity to realize all potential of video. Financial terms of transaction are not disclosed.

Ustream will join recently created division of IBM Cloud Video Services in which the assets of research laboratories IBM and technologies received thanks to other strategic acquisitions of the company will be merged. IBM will have an extensive portfolio of video services which includes development of open API interfaces, digital and visual analytics, solutions for the simplified management and consecutive implementation in all industries.

Jarrett Braxton will become the head of IBM Cloud Video Services. This division will work at the market of cloud video services and software which, according to the company, is estimated at 105 billion dollars.
