Viadeo in Russia

According to Kommersant[1], the professional social network Viadeo conceding in popularity only to LinkedIn leaves the Russian market, without having executed rules of law on work with personal data. Viadeo stores registration information of the Russian users on server platforms in the USA. The law requires processing and storage of such data in the territory of Russia.

The Viadeo company worked at the territory of Russia five years. The maximum number of the Russian owners of accounts in social network was 1.5 million. This indicator was reached in the current year. Recently the interests of Viadeo in Russia were represented by Viadeo of the Independent of Media company. The structure which is initially organized by the Finnish and French companies passed into a liquidation stage.

Natalya Moiseenkova, the head "Viadeo of the Independent of Media", told that the parent company narrows the business to borders of France therefore offices are closed in other countries. In particular, last year representatives of Viadeo announced closing of representation in China. Now there is an active work on closing of the Russian office and data center which is placed in California.

In case of complete liquidation of the Russian office without work there will be 20 people. Nevertheless, the Russian-speaking website of social network of work did not stop, on it further everyone can be registered.

According to Natalya Moiseenkova, the solution of the management of Viadeo on narrowing of a territorial framework of business is connected with sharp reduction of capitalization of the company. If its cost was estimated at 270 million euros, then it almost 10 times less now two years ago.

2011

In December, 2011 it became known that Viadeo creates the joint project with the Finnish Sanoma Independent Media (the co-owner "Business of the news of media" issuing the Vedomosti newspaper). It is about Russian-language network of professional contacts.

The project will integrate the professional community created around the business rb.ru portal belonging to SIM and the Viadeo resources. The Cyrillic cover will be available to network at the beginning of 2012.

Viadeo expects the active growth of the Russian market — according to the chairman of the board of directors of SIM Elena Myasnikova, "in the following several years Russia will become the largest media market of Europe". Viadeo purpose for the end of 2012 — 2 million participants in Russia, writes[2].
